i strangly like the new d3 system better, it just seems more simple, less having to create multi accounts for things, though for some items they should take up more room.

Agreed, though I'm hoping for some sort of shared stash to alleviate that specific problem as well... I'll have to pray to Tyrael for that tonight.

For all the people complaining about the constant trips back to town in D2 to pawn stuff every 5 minutes, stop picking up everything you see. Be discerning, know what might be valuable for pawning. Look for the items that are worth a couple hundred/thousands gold and get those; forget about the 150 gold grey crap items. There's gold on the ground too, remember.
Diablo is a lot more fun if you learn to work with the inventory system instead of viewing it as a drag.
And the fact remains that the 'tetris system' is a staple of the Diablo franchise, and while some modifications can, and probably should, be made it, such as stackable potions, gems, etc., you can't completely remove the 'Tetris' without removing part of Diablo's soul.
That being said, it is a new game and evolution must take place. Though I find the tetris style to be fun.

If they continue like they are doing right now, then yes, D3 will equal hack and slash WoW.
How can you say this? We’ve seen barely anything of the game. What you said above is irrational and based on pure preconceived (maybe biased?) notions about both World of Warcraft and Diablo.

. Sure it might be unrealistic and it will definetly change the game, but in the end it interfered with the gameplay.
No, it was as much a part of the game play as the killing was. IMO it gave items a much higher value because you had to pick and choose which items to pick up and pawn (if you are smart about it).

Yes, but with the vision that Blizzard has about increasing the speed and "epicness" of the gameplay, I think they'll keep the slot mechanic to keep the pace. *shrug* That's my thought on it. I really have no opinion either way

I think the inventory of d2 and d1 was perfect, why change it ? Stacking items is also an illogical idea. The inventory tetris is nice because items that usually take more space are the one with more weight.
Potions shouldn't be stacked, so do scroll, it's not a card game ! Do you think it's logic to have space for : 10 big axe of thunder OR 10 ammy. No, it's not.
Bring back old inventory !
Here's the thing about your idea of the inverntory.. With a tetris type of inverntory, I won't have as much room for the items I like to use as I want to. I really like the new idea of taking only one slot per item regardless of how large the item is.. Coz I hate it when i see a really good item and my character says "IMPOSSIBLE" or "I CAN'T"... I just hate that.. So bring on the new concepts for the inventory..

I never liked the inventory system but i really liked other mmo systems like in wow, made carrying a lot of stuff feasible

"One item per slot and stackable items like other mmorpg" sucks!! The inventory of d2 and d1 was perfect!!!
And I like but stones in my wreapons and armors and shilds!!!!!!:thumbsup:
I honestly dont think I could say the d2 inventory was perfect, because there was a point in time where at the end of the game you could only really carry 3 or 4 weapons at a time and I thought that was kind of rediculous, its annoying having to TP to pawn shit every 10 minutes

Why not make a combination of the 2. have the teris style for most things and make some things, like similar gems stackable. That's sort of how it is in D2, keys are stackable, so are javelins and throwing axes. Just apply that to some more smaller items to save space.
The only thing that is retarded, is the fact that no one is giving any logical reasons why a one item to one slot inventory is bad. The next person that mentions that it is "too much like WoW" as an argument against it needs to grow up and start using his brain.
Here, I'll give a good argument, the inventory tetris adds a sort of minigame of management that is kind of fun to play around with and makes the items you get appear more valuable. It also gives you an additional and very real reason to go back to town once in a while other than to heal.
On the negative side, the tetris is bad because it's just not convienent to the user, and doesn't seem to be a step forward into modern gaming that has seen great advances towards making games easier and more simple to play. Maybe some people don't like going back to town very often. Not to mention that no one really likes throwing items away.
Sometimes I just can't get over how resistant to change people can be. I always thought that all the hardcore resistance came with becoming set in your ways as you get old.
I like the one slot, one weapon, stackable myself. It really is much more convenient. Besides, they can add a right click or mouseover function that brings up a graphic with a description of the item so you can still admire your pretty weapons.
Hey, I'm all for an option checkbox. "Yes, I want to play inventory tetris." "No, I do not want to play inventory tetris."
Make those who cannot let go of the past happy.
I can see a bunch of install options for d3 now, but this only seems fair. Maybe these folk would have been happier with a simple expansion. I use the one slot system without any problem. What is the problem with it? Why is it not convenient? I hated hearing "I'm overburdoned. I can't carry that." and then finding out I had plenty of space for it. Maybe it would be better if they automated the tetris game in the inventory - everything automatically shifts to make room if enough spaces are available. Not!
Nah, that argument is used over and over and over again in politics, but the real reason is not that people are resistant to change, or that they have sentiment, its that they simply don't see the point of the change, or atleast not how it could improve it.
Just like this "change", it doesn't add anything, but then i mean absolutely nothing apart from "more convenience".
begin sarcasm: Why not just give players everything from the start? ITS THE MOST CONVENIENT! / end sarcasm
The system we had actually added something to the gameplay, you couldn't run around with 10 outfits changing them depending on situation. You had to make good use of space, it was essential to your character. It looked great, even the old D1 stuff looks absolutely great in your inventor, way better then a stupid pictogram wich gives you the possibility to "examine" said item more closely (wich is bad design actually, any mediocer skilled designer can tell you that the more layers you make before being able to access info, the less good design becomes, wich means less convenience). The 1 slot system really adds NOTHING at all, just because "its a change", doesn't per definition mean "a change for the better".
You need to analyze the 1-slot system more closely. It is not a "pointless change"; it is infinitely more efficient. Think of Diablo 2. Instead of having to arrange a 2x4 sized bow, the bow would just take up 8 "units" of your backpack. Rather than having to rearrange your inventory to make those four blank slots form a square to allow room for those boots, you would just have 4 "units" available for the boots to be picked up. The tetris system was fun for a little while; it's dead now. It just kills efficiency.
I suppose that it depends on what one thinks is convenient. What is convenient for one person is not necessarily convenient for another, regardless of underlying factors. It tends to depend on how an individual prefers to interact with the game. I play EverQuest as well and I simply hate having my inventory nagging at me all the time. So what if it takes a few extra nanoseconds that I can't percieve anyway.

I don't see how a change in the way inventory is handled makes Diablo into another genre of game all together.
its not supposed to be a nice game
autostats are rediclous
lack of pots is not welcome
if it aint broke dont fix it! (diablo2)

lol at thinking shooting fire onto a mongrel you summoned from the ground to buff it is realistic
lol at thinking any game anywhere at anytime has been realistic
grow up, you want realism? go outside
Plus the single icon actually creates more chaos. I assume it was easier visibility and availability while in-inventory they were trying to achieve.
'Real sized' items work best. Period
