I hope you're right, I really do. But seriously, by the way they've been doing business lately, and becoming worse and worse all the time, I really wouldn't be surprised by anything nowadays.
Plus it would actually make more sense, as they'll have to introduce new items/ systems in Expansion anyway. So it's very doubtful they'd do something like loot 2.0 only a few months before the expansion.
Oh, you mean like how they allow you to access the new SC2 content in multiplayer even if you dont own it?
Or how every single WoW expansion is preceded by a patch that gives everyone access to the major game system changes?
Seriously people, this is a thread for getting excited about an x-pack based on nothing more than a teaser image, not a thread for bitching and moaning, there are enough of them already.
Ok a couple of points why I find Blizzard very greedy and possibly THE greediest company out there atm.
(rant, rant, rant)
1) Every trading system should have a difference between buying and selling price, basics principle of economics.
2) If WoW sucks so hard and all the other MMOs are better and cheaper, why is WoW the uncontested champion of all MMOs to ever come out?
3) Oh my god, a company releases something to make money. Call the cops!
Seriously, your accusations make you look pathetic. No one is forced into using the RMAH, no one is forced to play WoW, no one is forced to play Hearthstone. End of story.
@Loot2.0: As some people pointed out, whenever a patch was released for an expansion, the basic game always received most of the improvements as well (as much as possible). Maybe not the new items, but existing items will be adapted to Loot 2.0.
@Clan support, group chat, public games rant: Multiplayer is not the focus of D3, maybe you missed the memo but they dismissed all D3MMORPG plans in 2006.
So... are you finished now and can let us enjoy the anticipation for the upcoming announcement? It's hilarious how some people turn everything into a shitstorm. If at least you had good arguments... please create a new thread to channel your hatred.

Dunno anything about Starcraft, so I don't speak of it, only of stuff I'm familiar with. And WoW pre-expansion Patches aren't all that useful. What good are "new game systems" without any new content/ being able to choose new races/ classes? It just serves as a carrot for you to buy the expansion if you actually want to enjoy any of its content.
Loot 2.0 is a game system. You stated they would make you pay for it. Which they won't.
Asking for a free expansion (which you are) is a totally different thing.
So I was just looking at the Original Image, and this might me a redundant obvious point, but it clearly says in print " 2013 Blizzard Entertainment,Inc. Reaper of souls is a trademark, and Diablo is a trademark or registered trademark" sO THAT BEING SAID, IT HAS TO DEAL WITH dIABLO. IT BEING A xPAC OR WHAT WE DO NOT KNOW.

The jpeg that is used for the splash image is titled d3x_teaser, so it's pretty much a lock that this is the expansion;
What do you guys think about the timeline now? I stopped playing d3 sometime between christmas and easter, and I'm getting ready to pick it up again. As far as I know, loot 2.0 will follow blizzcon, but it seems unrealistic to expect the expantion in early 2014. More like summer at the earilest. So I don't think the system changes in loot 2.0 will be a primer for the expantion in a direct sense. A lot of assumptions here, I know.
While this is exciting news, unless they can make the necessary changes that this game desperately needs or at least ensure they will be there in the expansion..I won't be buying it.

I think that's a great fuckin' thing, isn't it?
I'm already busy revisiting old quotes from the main D3 game, I'm already looking forward to the announcement, the announcement trailer, the new class and all that shit they will address and the new system to come. They spent the last year reiterating systems they had previously in the game and improving them and fuck it... it's gonna be great! :)))
The excitement Blizzard always creates around their games is a huge fucking part of enjoying their products, don't you think? :))
I definitely agree with this
Can't wait for some more solid info so I can start infecting my friends with that hype all over again...

I was complaining about the bitching and moaning, not the getting excited about an x-pack based on nothing more than a teaser image.
Hell I've opened the teaser image web page at least 100 times so far today.
And with one simple image scorned hearts once again fill with hope.
The passion people have for this series is simply undeniable. Everyone wants to see D3 redeemed, and perhaps this will indeed be the expansion we've all been waiting for. Can't wait for some big news and juicy details!

"Fear is the mind killer. Fear is the small death that brings total obliteration."
I wonder how they will deal with our current profile/characters.
Is the expansion going to reset everything (chars, achievements, etc.) and we will have 2 "separate" games (and choose which we will launch and play, like LoD) or if it will work as an expansion and keep your characters but improve them (similar to MMORPGs).
I was actually hoping that they implemented a big reset option with Loot 2.0 as in if you wanna move on to the new patch/expansion, you have to archive everything you previously had.

LoD required new chars didn't it? I thought you had the option to create the character as either xpac or vanilla.

You guys are messing up my memories...
From what I recall, in online Ladder you couldn't "convert" you characters. Maybe in single-player mode (or non-ladder). And even then, iirc heading into Act 5 with the weaker vanilla gear and no charms was suboptimal. So what I remember doing is starting it all over again to experience Act 5 in Normal (instead of doing it in Hell difficulty, where I was) and slowly progress up to Hell again.
I really can't remember properly now. But Sabvre is correct, you either chose to create an xpac or vanilla character.
You guys got the point of my question, com'on!
