I tried searching to see if this has been discussed, but the search function doesn't let me search for "mf" since it's <4 characters
With the limited information we have from the beta and knowledge of class skills post-beta, which class do you guys think will be the best for MF runs?
I honestly don't see any class being better than another for MF now. All classes have equal killing power. All classes have a mobility skill. And all classes will have to balance out MF gear now.

Of course, if using that gets in the way of killing in later acts, could be proven wrong. I'm doubtful though
Good point with Grim Harvest...
But ultimately - whoever can kill the fastest with the highest MF..... DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I agree, and it'll be interesting to see if a particular class DOES develop into "the" MF class for one reason or another. If I had to guess, I'd probably bet on something ranged, as a ranged class can usually clear a given area faster, which makes them more efficient at MFing.

i would choose my own religion and worship my own spirit, but if he ever preached to me i wouldn't want to hear it. i'd drop him, a forgotten god, languishing in shame; and then if i hit stormy seas, i'd have myself to blame.
The question occurs of whether it is better to beef up your MF and sacrifice a bit of killing efficiency or just let MF be damned and murder everything which means you'll net more kills per minute which in turns means more chances of loot drops per minute. I haven't completely read up on loot tables and clvls of creatures in D3, but from what I understand most every creature in a certain difficulty level has the chance to drop almost any item, with a few notable exceptions (someone please clarify if this is flat out wrong).
People who are bringing up the 2 Barbarian skills that increase "Treasure" are wrong. There was a blue post a while back stating that by "Treasure" it means gold/potions.
I know they try to balance it so there won't be a large difference between classes. Melee classes can take more damage or have damage reduced passively so its possible if the dps is high enough, a player won't have to focus as much on defense gear.
I think DH with his high dex for damage and dodge while staying away from the fray may actually be the best choice. You could counter this saying the wizard/WD intell will add to their resists. Conclusion, MF with the class you got the best mf/dps gear with.

Do you have link? I don't particularly remember that and would be interesting to see it.

I'd like to know if you have a source for this as I'd not seen this before. It seems odd to me they wouldn't be explicit about how it works.
The fairness comes in the trade off between taking one of the mentioned runes, and not one that allows you to deal more damage. It's really the same trade off you make with items or gems. I guess if you were really looking to stack gold find and not worrying about anything else then maybe your class of choice would be the demon hunter, but that's obviously pretty extreme.
For Grim Harvest it's not the same as magic find, it's a 5% chance to drop additional treasure of any kind. More often than not it's probably going to be a potion, white item, or maybe gold.
Of course classes are in their intense balance testing phases right now, so there's really no saying what may change before release.
Stack dat crit and vitality with this build. Treasure ensues. I realize extra treasure could be crap items, but if the extra treasure is affected by magic find... then well lots of extra treasure helps

I wouldn't say that.
It says that it will drop potions and gold as well. That is HUGE. Do you realize how often gold drops?
This means that the odds of getting an actual gear(weapon or armor) from the 15% additional loot is quite bad.
Pulling a # out of my ass maybe 1/3 the amount, so 5% chance to get Gear.

"Best" MFing class is hard to pick atm, as we don't know how easily it will be to farm in late hell or inferno.
Will it be so easy that you just run around with your max movement speed, 1 shotting mobs left and right. Or will you need to keep most of your "normal" gear just to be able to kill the mobs at all? We just don't know yet. If I compare with D2, the Necromancer could definitely wear the most +MF gear and still kill stuff fast, but unless he had enigma (for teleport) he was nowhere as good as a Sorc when it came to solo boss farming.
As farming at end-game will probably mean: Run around, until you find and kill 5 champion packs (for max Valor buff), then go kill the act boss. It's quite hard to tell, yet, which will be the best MFer.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the WD is probably the class that can carry the most MF gear and still kill stuff well, but if the farming game is all about rushing from place to place, then a teleporting wizard (if the rune works as theorized), vaulting demon hunter (again, if rune words as theorized) or a tempest monk might be the best MFer because of sheer speed.
well, gold itself is going to be extremely valuable so that has a certain importance as well. I agree tho that with every class being based off core stats and wpn dmg, they should all be extremely balanced and all equally dependent on the gear they wear. I dont really see any class any better than any other.
The 2 reasons that Sorcs were so much better in D2 were because of static field which doesnt exist in D3 for any class and Teleport which given a few reasons (Higher Difficulty, more loot coming from champ packs rather than bosses, higher CD/energy cost, etc), it will not be a make or break skill in D3 like it was in D2. It was 100% broken in D2 and there is no way Blizz lets that happen again. So basically the best MF char is whichever class you enjoy the most.
Of course, if using that gets in the way of killing in later acts, could be proven wrong. I'm doubtful though

Basically this.
There will be some trade-off for high MF amounts, so you will have to balance mobility (how fast can you get from Rare to Rare), survivability (how well can you stay alive), kill-ability (how fast can you kill shit), and MF (how much MF can you wear while doing all of this efficiently).
Right now, there is no clear answer. In the future, there may be a clear answer, but it will still depend on the player.
If I can put 700 MF on my barb and still annihilate everything in a timely fashion, and you put 1000 MF on a Wizard but can barely kill things, my 700 MF barb will be a better MF character, as he will rack up Rare kills while your Wizard sits there pecking and dying over and over again.
The teleport rune I'm thinking of, might give you free teleports, just as the vaults might be free for the DH. We just don't know yet. But if that's the case, the Wiz would > DH in the sense that teleporting though mods doesn't hurt you, but vaulting can.
Even with movement, it's obviously going to boil down to who can kill the fastest while wearing the most MF gear, and GUESS WHATT
