posted a message on How do you guys get all those good legendaries?
I have over 1000 hours, probably closer to 1200 if i add them up. I do occassionally get lucky. Not like many people but I do get a good drop now and again. Last night I landed the Hallowed set plans. Man... I mean man I wish I had these before. Plan on messing around making a few more pieces for my chars before RoS starts. From what I understand most current mats won't be used that much in new crafting for items 61-70. I got tons of them so I can craft away until I get some nice pieces to RoS with. Of course these pieces won't last long but a nice spring board.

In D2 once the expansion hit, you had the option to make each character upgradeable to LoD. I kept a few characters in the standard D2 so i could play with friends who hadn't bought LoD.

The only problem I see with this is the shared stash in D3. Maybe characters not upgraded could not use items/loot from RoS. Don't know. I actually hadn't even thought about this scenario because I just assumed it would the same way D2 did. Probably won't though.

So I am back. I started playing the live version of 2.0 last week. To my surprise, the game does feel right now. Monster density, my biggest complaint has been fixed and some dungeons/caves/whatever now have more monsters than any other time in the games history. I found playing on t2-t3 was my best experience. I could tank on t4 and survive but the long killing time did not seem worth it for me. I only have 180 dps. Even playing for a week, my main (a wizard)never got an item that was an upgrade. Neither did my barb, my second most played character. But after that, many of my 8 other chars and many of my followers did get upgrades. I haven't played in a public game yet and will try it, but I was trying to get a feel for the game again after a long break. I have went up 10 paragon in my week in softcore and 4 paragon in hardcore. My hardcore character got many upgrades butI hadn't really put much time inhim. The drops seem about right for characters with low hours and not much in elite gear. Characters with a lot of hours in them probably won't be helped much but thats to be expected. The new monster affixes/animations spruce things up a little. The new legendaries affixes seem interesting, or at least have temporarly got me interested. I did experience some lag... long periods of hanging 15 seconds plus a few times. One hang was for over a minute, it gave me time to check internet and pull up another program which my pc ran with no problems, checked my task manager to see ifD3 was taking upusage perecentage which it wasn't, so it appears the lag seems to be on bnets side. Of coursewhen I asked in public chat if anyone else was experiencing this, i was told toget rid of my trash computer...internet wunderkinds are so stupid and predictable. One small annoyance is how if I want to get better gear for my followers, I need to play a class that would use the same gear as the follower. Thats my one beef about the smart drop system. I am gonna have to make a hc intel user for my enchantress since my only current hc chars are a barb and a monk. Another annoyance eventhough its really petty, is I wish the new game modes were still called normal, nightmare, hell, and inferno. Those are classic diablo and I feel somewhat sad everytime i see hard, expert, and master. Silly yes, but I am anold gamer trying to hang on to old ideas. The lag issues will always come and go with internet based games. All in all, i was impressed with this version of D3. I just preordered the expansion afterI thought I would not do it. Am I totally happy with the game, no. But its good enough to play. One last thing for Westane... yes you are correct. But I would still rather be Joan Jetted than Pat Benatared. Just my personal preference. edit: why does this format remove spaces between my words after I post a reply?. I proofread my reply twice only to see words pushed together. So odd.

Bumping my old thread from a month ago. I am still watching D3 from afar but still have no logged on to it. I read the new patch notes. Nothing about monster density. Give me monster density or give me death. Or at least the death of my heros. ( and not in the can no longer rez in boss fights kind of way.)

If anyone can see a higher monster density in game, I may download this latest ptr and try it. Otherwise back to netflix. Seeya. Hope they make the game so you guys can enjoy it at least.

You do remember that to play highest level of difficulty in vanilla D3 you've had to grind to level 60, right? Did you complain back then as well? It's an expansion pack, and it is the same for each and every game out there. You have to level to max before you can see whole content. Nothing new here, so if anything you can complain that Blizzard haven't developed completely new approach to that matter (which, as a side note, has worked very well for all those years), but it is not like you proposed any solutions for this either. As for necessity to buy deluxe version to have more character slots, your statement is simply not true and it has been already clarified several days ago.http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/10973357478?page=1#6
First, no this is not the same as the grind for D3 Vanilla. I was new to the experience. We had a complete fresh start, no gear in the economy. It was more difficult than what I experienced in PTR. Second, that is good news on the character slots, i tried for a while trying to figure that out and saw nothing. Thank you for the link. 3rd, Another guy said monster power and monster density is coming back, if thats true, I would probably play the game again. I just don't trust blizzard to fix it. I remember seeing the static map borders in the original beta and my heart sank. 2 years later, they are fixing that for expansion maps only. My complaining in the OP is due to that fact I have seen repeatedly the mistakes Blizzard has made and the lack of foresight they seemed to have in their initial fixes.

So your issue with the new patch is the difficulty desire and monster density.

For difficulty, you'll need to buy RoS to play in torment, worth it or not, your call.

Regarding monster density, believe blizz will tune it up else everyone will just farm at act3 again.

Monster Denisty is my main grief but this current itteration of the PTR seems much more hollow than live Diablo. When I look at gear now, its either, use, vendor, or salvage. Hate to say it, but i think i miss the decision process of deciding if an item is sellable. I suppose the chance at each paragon level up to make a unique character to others is a plus but not worth the game. Also, I'm not gonna waste my time boringly grinding to 70 before I can get a challenge again for these Torment levels. There is so many little things like needing to buy deluxe edition to get more character spaces that are putting me off. I have 2 of each type of class that i did for achievements. I would have to delete some if I wanted to play new class. Its not really a money issue, but a perceived greed I see from Blizzard thats upsetting me there. I could go on and on, but D3 seems to disappoint over and over again. Then they fix it, only to screw it up again with expansion.

Like I said in first post,I will continue to watch whats going on and if I see the changes are to my liking, and if so... I will come back to game. I really don't want to give up on the game. Biggest issue is monster density. If that is fixed in a before level 70 way(69, hell 65 isn't good enough,) I will probably throw my chips back on the table. As for now, I folded my hand and cashed in my chips. Watching the game from a distance to see if the right cards fall. If not, gonna play a different game in a different casino.

I started out fresh on PTR with a brand new level 1 wizard (no paragon points either.) I played on normal until i cleared The Weeping Hollow. I don't know if I took damage, let alone actually died. Ok, i am ready to die, lets exit game and restart in hardest mode available. Joan Jett me, hit me with your best shot PTR. Entered the Crypts, killed, and cleared them. Made my way upto and killed the Skeleton King. I still rarely took any damage, even vs the skeleton king. Wave of force was fun to spam for destroying breakables, wiping out almost all monsters in 1 or 2 hits. Got a few what looked like smart drops. The loot for killing the SK was so underwhelming,I just stopped playing. I have killed the SK countless times, most of them in the original beta and I don't recall ever feeling so low about a first kill of him. Ok so thats not really that important. What is importantis how the endgame is. Copied in myfleet of level 60's. Picked my monk, he is the worst of my 5 of each class i played with. On PTR his dps was 49kish. Added in all 91 of my paragon points. Master level. Joan Jett me bitches. .... ... .. My monk can't die. He isn't the fastest killer, but he does not die. Clear out FoM and shrug. Some smart loot drops, but nothing i can use. Ok my best character is my wizard. Fill her up with 91 paragon points. Head out to fields of misery. Try out new versions of archon first. I don't really feel the slow time is very effective because I kill things so fast. Switch back to quick damage. 20 seconds does not really seem long enough to keep it on my skills list (which is what they probably want.) I can tap out elites with it easy but not really enough monsters together to make it effective. Wave of Force it is. Wave of Force cleans everything out if i want. Wish i didnt have to stop to cast it for that silly little jump. My other non archon spells pretty much stayed the same, could have changed my shield spell. My forked lightning, lightning hydra, and blizzard spell destroy everything with relative ease and relatively quick. I do have 179k dps which is only slightly lower than my live dps. My problem, its not that its easy at the highest level i can play. Thats the desire in diablo series, to get to the point you are a god with enemies melting before you. The problem, there are no ememies most of the time. There is not much loot on the screen either. I can deal with that if I am busy killing stuff. Fields of Misery have turned into Fields of Sunday Strolls. Oh looks a few monsters, oh look they are dead with in a a few seconds. Oh look, nothing here. Wait approximately 15 seconds, more monsters, oh they dead again. I spend most of the time walking around doing nothing. This makes the wave of force jump that more annoying cause i need to do something while wondering around looking for something to kill. Yea,I won't play this version of the PTR anymore. This version of the PTR made me so sad for the diablo series, I quit playing the live version too. Why would I if this is what I have to look forward to? So I will watch to see if there are any updates and if they make RoS worth buying, but as of right now, this ptr has unsold me on the future of the Diablo series. Why can't they somehow incorporate monster power into the new system? Why is monster density so low? I understand the tuning of loot and can accept that. I just can't believe something that was a foregone conclusion to me, buying every game and expansion in the diablo series, is now in doubt. Also, why can the new play modes still be normal, nightmare, hell, inferno, and torment? Those are iconic to the diablo series and we just take them away for names like master? I don't even want to get into their hatred for magic find. Why must they destroy and build over some of the simple foundations of the game? I hate to think of it because the diablo series was my favorite game series, but maybe its time to move on. Shaking my head in disappointment.

posted a message on Can a Diablofans.mod please post this or ask Blizzard what the hell happened with monster density!

I never had any doubt I was buying RoS until I played the PTR with the lower density. I feel like they did so much to fix the game, but taking away density ruins all of that. Its like I got a brand new suped up sports car but i can only drive it on a straight, flat highway with no traffic. In other words, it is boring. There is no way I buy RoS with the lower monster density. Personally i also wish monster power stayed. Sometimes I want a challenge and master difficulty even with increased monster density would be way too easy.

posted a message on Crafting Materials (and Hoarding)
    Interesting points.

= Are we going to get a new "tier" of crafting materials, that only drops from 61-70? And which will be used for the new high-end items?

I would expect the answer to be yes we will get new tier of crafting material for items 64-70. It would be nice to have the new crafted items to also require a little bit of the current top tier items to help drain the economy of them. We can't forget though, not everyone will buy the expansion and of those that do, some will prefer current game to expansion. Even as popular as LoD was, there was a sizeable contignent of players who prefered d2 vanilla.

= If not, would the Mystic use the current crafting materials for Enchanting? Or just gold/DEs

Personally I would like to see a whole new set of crafting materials for the mystic.

    Quote from Bagstone

Well, maybe you could create more than one account on a CD key... but you couldn't play more than one of them at the time, so there's no point. But on the other hand - I get your point, infinitely many characters. But again, it wouldn't really work with something as paragon 2.0 or the shared stashes in D3, so it's just like buying another copy of the game.

Regarding the challenges... sure, it's an opinion. But we have discussed this so often and so many times, basically everything that makes a bot successful resembles patterns that flag you as a bot. In other words: the most successful players in the world come across as bots as well. And especially the "most gold collected" and "most legendaries" challenged are definitely worthwhile for bots to pursue. So I really fail to see how these challenges would solve anything. Again, we had this discussion months ago and someone pointed out that all these challenges already exist (on Diabloprogress), and we had a discussion how many of these characters were bots.

I never multiboxed, only made mule accounts. I don't understand how a most gold collected or most legendaries challenge are worthwhile to a bot. Why would they risk flagging their account as a possible bot account in an opt in service when the reward would be a banner or exclusive account bound dye? Where is it worthwhile? Why would they choose to join a challenge when they can get all the gold and legendaries they want outside of the challenge?

You keep going back to the economy. Why must these challenges fix the economy? These are things for players to do. Ladders never fixed economy. With in 48 hours of an ladder reset every item worth having in d2 was for sale on 3rd party sites. At slightly higher prices of course. Ladders actually kept bots in business.

    B) Account character slots. We have 10. I have 10 characters. I have to delete characters to play ladder? Thats BS. D2 had unlimited accounts able to be tied to one cd key so we had unlimited characters for playing ladder. Diablo 3 was not set up for D2 ladder style and won't effectively copy it.

Errrr, what? You could only create one account per CD key, and there was a maximum of 10 slots per account as well. I remember this exactly because I had 3 CD keys for "mule accounts" and other stuff just because of this.

    Quote from HeyseusKristos
    C) Bots bots bots botsbotsbotsbto

Well, your argument is right that ladders were controlled by bots, the economy was controlled by bots, and so on. That's exactly why so many people play self-found, and it's the reason why Blizzard is not too keen on creating something like Diabloprogress (though I could imagine them doing that). There's not a single ranking on Diabloprogress you can top playing self-found.

However, all your 22 ideas don't really solve the problem, as all these suggested rankings can be, will be, and are currently dominated by bots. Point 9... most gold collected? Probably the top 1000 "gold collected" chars in the world are bots.

You are completely incorrect about the first point. I had one D2 cd and One LoD cd. I probably in my gaming time with D2 put 20 or 30 accounts on them. Normally around 4-5 at the sametime. The rest of your points are opinion. Yes, bots could control some of the ladder challenges, but not likely all of them. Definitely not the most targeted of a particular monster or item. To be honest, most bots are not gonna enter these challenges as it could redflag their account as being a bot. This is an opt in service and people don't need to gear up to play in it, there is no gain for a bot to enter. They can can keep on making just as much money outside of challenges with less chance of being outed.

My problems with ladder system D2 Style:

    A) Ladder only events and gear. I feel left out that i can't eventually play these events and use the gear rewarded in ladders.

    C) Bots control ladder economies. Bots controlled the D2 ladder economy because they can aquire gear/runes the quickest. They will be able to aquire gear/gold the quickest. Even if there was no AH, just like in D2, people will buy the gear off 3rd party websites.

    D) Bots led the experience rankings in the ladder. With in a week, only bots hold the top spots.

My Suggestion for ladder solution. I think it would be cool to have challenges that involved ladders that went for varied amounts of time. We could opt into these challenges with characters we already have.

Time frames could go from 1hr to 6 months

Obvious challenges could be elite kills , pvp kills, and experience earned.

Blizzard really could go wild with challenges. Most would be inferno only. Here few of the ones I like:

    1) Treasure Goblin kill count.
    2) Fastest to find a legendary for every gear slot. (targeted legendary drops will make this easier)
    3) Furtherst progress in Nephalem trials
    4) First or quickest time to loot a targeted legendary.
    5) Fastest whole act clears with in a certain time frame. First quest until boss dies. Every quest must be completed.
    6) Most kills in an act.
    7) Most Elite kills in an Act
    8) Most Act Boss kills
    9) Most gold collected.
    10) Most items picked up.
    11) Most legendary items.
    12) Most gems collected
13 ) Most Tome Of Secrets collected
    14) Most crafting plans.
    15) Most Khaza Killed
    16) Most Cultists killed
    17) Most Lacuni killed
    18) Most Herald of Pestilence killed
    19) Most Fallen Angels killed
    20) Most Act 5 Monster killed

    21) Crafting Challenge: Post your best 3 crafted items during challenge. Only items crafted during challenge will post. Items are bid on by other challenge participants. The top 10 Items of each type of gear with highest bids win challenge. The bidders get the items. THe crafters gets 70% of gold. Crafted account bound items included. This would be only way to transfer an account bound item (it will be account bound for the bidder if he wins it). To be in challenge, you must craft at least 10 items for each slot. You can enter crafting challenges for all for difficulties, normal, nightmare, hell, and Inferno. We may need to split up gear slots to be seperate if weapons, rings, or ammy's always win highest bid. If we are only going to focus on one gear slot, participants would need to craft 50 items for slot to be eligible for challenge.

    22) Dungeon Race: A Dungeon packed full of monsters. 2-4 Players try to be the first to find their way out of a random dungeon. Times are recorded to see fastest on server during time.

Well that is my latest quick idea segement.

edit: Forget about the rewards. The crafting challenge, reward is obvious. As for others. Paragon points, exclusive dyes, up to 25 banners that give challenge name, time of event, and your placement in ladder challenge. That way anyone that joins a game with you knows you won the Treasure Goblin 24 Hour Kill Challenge on August 24, 2013.

posted a message on Suggestion: PvPing at low level encouragement.
I will say this, yes I am getting this idea from WoW. I know, it sounds dirty and vile just saying it on a D3 forum. Especially because I was not a fan of WoW. I did enjoy twinking out my low level pvp characters though.

I would like the ability at levels less than 60 to turn off normal xp and turn on paragon xp. This way we could lock a character in at a level for twinking the characters gear. We will need more character slots for this to work with current achievements. 10 more sounds good :)

As for the place of PvP, make it about the size of one of the larger maps (dalgor oasis, fields of misery, desolate sands) and give us objectives to take. 2 Teams of 10-15 sounds good. Also take a page from first person shooters and allow someone to create a game and make the rules. Like "Must Use Shield" "No twohanders" "No Weapons" "Only Blue Items" "No Legendaries" We'll need a staging area to comply with rules before entering combat zone."

Let the combat levels go similar to WoW but with old D2 Nostaglia PvP.
    Level 1's only.
    Level's 2-4.
    Levels-5-9.
    Levels 10-19
    Levels 20-29
    Levels 30-39
    Levels 40-49
    Levels 50-59
    Level 60.

Granted, this idea won't save PvP but whatever they are doing to make the combat better than 1 hit kills could go along with something like this.

Hit me with your best shot.

posted a message on Suggestion: Events that unlock with Difficulty unlocks
We already have the Ubers in Inferno mode.

What if, we put events that unlock specifically for Nightmare and Specifically for Hell difficulties as well? Or maybe the events that unlock in Nightmare are unlockable all the way through Inferno with the Hell unlockable events being in Hell and Inferno?

I have read a lot about the possiblity of shortening the game to get to infernal. I know there is some impatience with all gamers who sometimes want to rush to the end game. However, instead of making the game shorter, give people more options for along the way.

Sure the rewards for these events could be some nice legendary items. But here is the best part of the event idea I have. The main reward is some nice customization to the character. Every time you complete the event upto 25 times, you get some event points. You will have an event store/merchant to buy customization stats to your character. You can keep doing events after that and gain more event points but in order to spend them on your char, you will have to remove some of the customization you already have.

Customization will be something along the lines of being able to modify stats on your character sheet. Chance on Crit and Crit Damage not available for obvious reasons. Or if they are, all the points are used to barely move the numbers of those two.

We all would like to have up to 12% more movement speed.
    Pickup radius improvement.
    Defense improvement.
    Weapon Specialization
    Skill Specialization
    Up Main stat
    Up Vit.
I'm sure you all could think of more.

You would not be forced to put all skill points in one improvement, you could up everything a little or focus on a few.

The Bonus to this idea is customization and creating a character unique from others could begin in Nightmare, further diversify in Hell, and we could really become that special snowflake in Inferno. Most ideas I have heard so far everyone is just speeding to inferno and wants all the specialization to happen there.
