So I played through the beta for the first time during the open beta weekend, in fact I played through it many many times during the open beta weekend. The log in errors and downtime didn't really phase me, I understood it was a stress test and that there would be tons of people trying to connect.
I was actually surprised at all the posts and rants from people irate and pissed off because of this. They need to understand that Blizzard didn't have to even have an open beta, and further more, any issues that came up on the weekend, and were fixed, are issues that you won't have to deal with on release day, when you have actually paid for the game.
But I'm off topic, the reason for this post is to express the feeling I now have after playing the game for a few short days. I actually miss it. I feel kinda bummed I won't be able to play it for another 3 weeks. I always knew I would like the game, I had thought that maybe once I played it, it would not live up to the hype in my head, but I was wrong. It did. And so much so that even after a small taste I'm craving more.
I've read a lot of negative threads about the open beta experience, I'd like to hear from others who fell in love with the game after last weekend.
Playing the beta was the worst thing I could do. Time was trundling along just fine to release, but now I feel like it is standing still. I thought the beta was great though, and on the plus side DH went from being #4 to #2 on my to play order. WD still reigns supreme
I feel the same way, but I don't regret playing the open beta. I definitely feel like it's cemented the fact that it is a true Diablo sequel. It captures everything that I loved about Diablo I, as well as some of the things about Diablo II. The optional back story really makes the world seem alive and makes you keep wanting to learn more. I was addicted to finding all the tomes, I wanted to know what happened to Lachdanan, I cared about him like a real person. The story more than anything is why I love Diablo, this game is going to be AMAZING!
I got the beta blues, and broke up with the gf of a year and 1/2 over the weekend. Im doing well on both accounts Im 22 and didnt feel like I could handle being ina long term relationship any longer. Also I made 3 friends play the open beta and they are now jonesing like addicts which is perfect cause that makes about 7 people I know personally who will play consistently come release.

I'm trying to decide whether I should "break up" with my gf, in anticipation of the time I'll spend playing diablo III. She doesn't understand, constantly complains when I want to play games. I'd rather play than put up with the bullshit

Children.. Lol, you'd rather play d3 then get laid?
It's possible to have your cake and eat it too as the saying goes

I'm at the age where I tell her I'm tired, not the other way around. Sex isn't important to everyone, despite what you might think.

It's alright, I'll do dishes and cook as long as I can play diablo III as much as I want
I got over achiever with a buddy during the weekend and now that its gone we both can hardly stand playing league of legends right now... Its a sad day but now its only 19 days away and I cant wait!
Couldn't bring myself to even start up Starcraft 2. I'm lucky there's a game 7 hockey game on tonight and the NFL draft tomorrow to keep my mind off it while at work.
Honestly there isnt much content in the beta anyways... I think a weekend is perfect for the amount of questing, leveling and even achievments available.
Strike me dead for saying this but it got a bit repetative.. :-P dont get me wrong i loved it and will be playing it day of release coupled with the fact that gold, items, and lvl dont mean anything in the beta it kind of takes away the sense of accompolishment. i think this is a huge factor why people love diablo so much. To make a long story short..get over it.
By the way it seems like some people feel like they need a gf to get laid.. what up wit dat?
I'm not sweating it, I feel pretty good about this weekend being open beta as well Think about it.. last weekend of beta and i'm sure they have stuff that they can tighten up after last weekend! *crossin mah fingers!*
Dude I completely know where you're coming from. I in a way wish I hadn't even gotten beta back when it started. Having played only the beta for the last like 6 months has been dreadful. This game kicks so much ass that I've never even gotten bored of the beta content, and I don't want to think of how mind blowingly awesome release is going to be. And even though I've played it so much, I'm still dreading it stopping in 5 days, and having two weeks of no access =O
