Actually that means you could get home after a midnight release, install the game, take a nap(length of nap depends on distance from PST) and then wake up in time to be online the moment servers come up. On the other hand for those of us on the west coast it means we will be getting into the game around 12:30 at best.
Well looks like everyone not on the west coast is going to suffer a little eh?
As a PST timezoner, I LOL'd. I've been to dozens of midnight releases, knowing in the back of my mind that 90% of the rest of the world has already been playing for hours. It's just the way it goes. Furthermore, Bashiok said "Not sure yet" so you're jumping to conclusions.
I will be up at the butt-crack of dawn, which for me, will likely be 10am or so, though I may find it hard to go to bed 'early' at 2ish...
No hurry though, I expect the first day/week/month to be handled kind of badly... And no free subscriber time like their previous launch failure... : )
I am purposefully going in with low expectations so that when it hits the fan, I can move on to something else for an hour/day...
They will handle it like sc2 and let east coast play at 12 est. It seems like the concept that makes more sense would be to stager the logins a little instead of everyone getting on within 10minutes.
The only ones that suffer are people in Alaska/Hawaii time zones because by the time midnight rolls around in say Hawaii the game will have been live on the servers for 3 hours (no daylight savings time in Hawaii)
The german translation of one of their pages specifically states "am 15. Mai um 09:01 Uhr MEZ freigeschaltet." The english version of that eu site only states may 15th, but it seems it will actually be a global release, not timezone based, as for central europe, CEST, 9 am is midnight PST.
I got my third to last day of High School on release day. But if I go to sleep early enough on the 14th, I should be up in time for a Midnight release and play before school starts. By the way, I am in the Central Time zone so I would have two hours before the servers should go live.

I don't always burn. But when I do, I use hellfire.
I think Nebraska is 2 hours ahead (i'm not sure where the cutoff is)... so 2 am.
ya sry thanks i was totally looking at it backwards. and ya i thought it was 2 hours anyways. well that sucks i guess im not getting on till that morning. The wife gets mad when i stay up lol

Nope. Means we have time to go to the store to pick up our CE and eat/shower before we hop on.
WoW servers always went live at midnight east coast
Not at the Cataclysm launch they didn't, they went live at 12:01 PST.
I'll have to wait until 4:00am Atlantic Time, but I'll live, it'll give me time to do the things I want to do before the servers go live.
Eat and shower? Such concepts will not even exist on the day of release. This device will be my way of "improving" hygiene during play:

Why do you think I said you should do them BEFORE the servers go live? Use your brain, man!
Nope, I read that. I was saying AFTER they go online, of course. Who wouldn't do that before?

People who forget what they're - What were we talking about?
I don't think you understand how time zones work...You're ahead of PDT by one hour if I remember correctly....do the math. 12+1 does not equal 10.
