Do you believe that blizzard will be sending out waves of beta keys as players get bored or frustrated testing the diablo 3 beta? (force suggested this in his last video)
Also, do you think that eventually anyone will be able to create a beta account like wow did for content patches (as long as you own the game)? I know this one probably won't happen until the first patch when everyone has purchased the game for real.
I think there will be a good deal of attrition since the content is fairly limited and can be finished quickly. For others, like myself, it will be something I will likely go to all the time. I can live with limited content, I just need my fix.
Ya me either. I'll play that shit to death!! I doubt I'll get too bored with beta.

Hmmm, Rob Pardo said the beta will be 4 to 6 hours.
Source?
4-6 hours sounds ALOT longer than to kill Leoric tbh... so that's news to me if it's true...
But yes, attrition will figure heavily into this beta, for reason already stated.
1) It will be short
2) People won't play it ALL the time
3) They will be keeping the beta filled to the maximum capacity at all times, meaning, that new beta invites will probaly be sent out, most likely with frequent intervals..
How do you know? Have you played the beta? I've heard 4 to 6 hours as well. I can't remember the source. But, just how would you know how long it takes to kill King Leoric if you haven't played the beta? It could be 10 floors beneath a dungeon before you see Leoric.

As others have said, there will be very little content included in the beta, so I imagine a lot of people will get bored with it fairly quickly.
I would not expect too many content updates that would warrant a test realm. Without a monthly fee structure, I would expect bug fixes and balancing at most until an expansion is put out. Then again, there is a another source of revenue, but I won't mention that in fear of derailing the thread.
It will take less than an hour to reach the Skelly King, you are misremembering. That timeframe was in reference to playing through with all the classes.
After all D3 is supposed to be roughly the same length as D2, and D2 you could finish Act 1 in 4-5 hours no problem. That would be ridiculous if you could only reach the skeleton king, who is in the first dungeon, after that long.
I too have seen the 4-6 hour comment. It makes sense. How long did it take you to get to say the smith in act1 1st time without appoints or tp. Plus, the radomization and random events will all be in in order to test the effects on the servers. 4-6 hrs makes perfect sense.
I dunno, after you have swapped out every possible skill combination of your tier 1 skills and you killed every level 2 monster in the game, it might get a bit stale after a while XD
We were able to play through the game a few times, the content is relatively short (only about an hour of actual gameplay), and you finish at King Leoric, as most of you have already seen, unfortunately.
This is from the news article released on August 1, how can none of you guys have read this? If you want to check for yourself scroll down to the text just following the first interview spoiler.
Edit* In the above video post he's talking about running through with all the characters. The first act is NOT ten hours long.
All I know is that I played from level 1 to level 12 on a character in D2 hundreds of times, and it took me years to get bored of it. Don't expect to get any attrition points from me.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
Anyone know if there's a level cap? Or if, after you finish Leoric, you are obliged to "quit" that character or you can just keep playing in the previous areas?
It might be short yeah but I read from interviews throughout the net that randomization is in full effect so we'll be able to experience how random dungeon (where King Leoric is) and random scripted events has evolved. And of course loot, followers, artisan, etc. Oh, multiply all this by 5

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.

It's in the g4tv spoiler interview I believe
The beta will have like over 30 hours of content to me. And that's not even counting site and forum spent time.

This kinda worries me, the biggest gameplay change in the game are runes, and they are not willing to test it?
It doesn't matter if blizzard has a team of 3000 trained monkeys playing 24/7, thats not enough for a game of D3 caliber.
