Set bonus staying it seems. Price of Natayla just went up another 10x fold.
How about you revert all the IAS change and nerfs while we're at it?
You're forgetting the glaring problem; The legendary buff in 1.1 is NOT retroactive. The natayla's sets right now aren't going to be worth anything once 1.1 hits, and the new ones dropping are a LOT better. You're dumb if you buy now =D

I think everything is relative. In the sense that, how far along is 1.1? We're at 1.03a, with 1.03b coming out this week. I don't know the patch schedules, but I would say 7 weeks of pure OPness is well worth it. You can still sell it before 1.1 is scheduled to hit. And how much gold would someone with 4/4 would have from now until 1.1 is? Did they buy it with gold? Buy it with money? Buy it with gold they bought?

Exactly my thoughts. I think you'd be dumb to "wait". If you're in the position to obtain 4/4 right now you aren't going to be hurting by the time 1.1 comes out.
You get effectively an additional ability slot in that you have no need for prep at all. 3disc/sec is waaaaaaaaay more than prep was giving anyway. With that slot opened up, you can put something in that increases your damage output, like mark or a companion. I actually use bat pet in place of prep atm with an impale build. With regen on quiver I'm over 8 hatred/sec. This leaves me almost not caring about my resources at all...
And ignoring the free slot, vault/tumble with tactical advantage means you're perma +60% movespeed from vaulting while not draining disc. Pretty good for finding elite packs quickly...
The set bonus, even with poorly rolled piecs, pays you back in damage from a freed up ability and pays you back in efficiency by letting you move retardedly fast. It's completely worth it.
And if that's not enough, you pretty much can't run out of discipline while fighting... Root traps immobilize for 2sec, and you regen 6 disc in 2sec, which happens to be the cost of your next root trap... infinite loop of immobilized...
Very good writeup Navras. So you'd recommend getting a crappy set of Nat's now rather than waiting to see what the stats on the new set will be?
ALSO, does anyone know what will happen if you combine old set + new set?
For example, if I only have 1 piece of the old set, which says if I get 4 peices I will have 2 regen/sec, and the other 3 pieces are from the new set which says it gives 0.5 regen/second, which bonus will I get?
If I learned one thing from Blizzard from 5 years of playing wow, set bonuses never are extras, you are balanced around them. I, too, just can't wait for batch of nerfs to DHs not rocking 4-set.
INB4 Diablo is not WoW. Tell that to IaS and other nerfs when they decided adding gear farming requiring 'endgame' was good idea.
I'm fairly sure IaS prenerf was as good as Increased Casting Speed when it comes how much damage you could get from it, just that it had breakpoints you were aiming at (would it be so hard to make cap same way in D3, sigh).
I can certainly call Inferno endgame, or more specifically, progression. Seeing like they 'fixed' 0 vit sorc, mantra spamming monks and invulnerable DHs, I can say they do want to force players into gearing/RMAHing char to beat it. You could break Diablo 2 in so many ways, especially after rune words, Diablo 3 is way, way more restrictive.
Lastly, there is this Bashiok quote, which makes me wonder about this whole thing in first place:
I'm not sure if buffing the rest of the game to keep from nerfing one set bonus is the right call, but it's certainly one to be considered.
Okay so realistic scenarios for getting 4 pieces of Natalya:
a) Keep going like now, farming for loot a couple hours per day. With this amount of gold coming in, I'll never beat the gold inflation and will get the pieces (with questionable stats) through loot drops in maybe a year or two (if I'm lucky).
Spend my whole summer vacation farming gold hardcore. I'll beat the gold inflation and maybe net enough gold to buy a couple pieces.
c) Just go "fuck it" and spend a few work days worth of income in the RMAH and get 4 pieces instantly.
It's sort of obvious what Blizzard would like me to do at this point, ain't it? What I'll actually do is:
d) Go beat Diablo with current gear and quit Diablo except for occasionally leveling some alts when I feel like it.
Well, inflation will make Natalya worth more, but so will your good drops, and you are bound to get one some day. Amount of players in D3 will slowly decrease, with most people cashing out their gear, which gives more sets circling in economy per player. Then you will have players who have obtained the set, but will upgrade it for one with better rolls, and guess where old piece will land? There is no ladder resets in here, so in 'some' time, everypony will be able to afford it, even if with crappy stats.
c) Just go "fuck it" and spend a few work days worth of income in the RMAH and get 4 pieces instantly.
It's sort of obvious what Blizzard would like me to do at this point, ain't it?
I like how so many RMAH whiners seem to ignore one fact about it: no matter what item sells (not commodities), Blizz get the exact same amount from it. £1 (or $1, or 1 euro). It doesn't matter if they make the item worth hundreds of real currency, or if they make it so it'll sell for £2. Blizzard get the same cut no matter what. Hell, if anything it'd be worse for them to make super awesome items, because then people will want to sell the item outside of the RMAH (to avoid the cut and get more than £250 from the sale of the item).
Sure, maybe this will encourage more people to buy on the RMAH than before, but the difference is miniscule in the grand scheme of things.
And no, Demon Hunters will never be balanced around assuming they all have 4 set bonus. Never. Getting a full set of gear in D3 is infinitely more difficult than in WoW, so you simply cannot use WoW experience to try and predict what will happen in D3.
The idea of D3 is that eventually, you will be able to completely faceroll the content. You will be an overpowered god of destruction with the right gear. That is absolutely acceptable and expected. This is why you can't use WoW experience with D3: in WoW you're all meant to be balanced and constantly challenged. Yes, you do get better gear thus making the content easier, but nowhere near the same level as D3.

But the pieces now will remain the same as they are. The current 4 set piece bonus is so godly that the new set would have to be even more broken to make it more worth while.

I'd like to introduce you to my very good friend, 15%-cut-that-Blizzard-takes-from-all-RMAH-to-PayPal-transactions!
But yes, I take your point (to an extent). My background is in WoW raiding (used to be fairly hardcore, nowadays semi- so) where you can actually get the best stuff in game by playing (and getting it sooner the better you play), so I'm having a bit of a hard time empathizing with the people who are glad that the set bonus wasn't nerfed.
They must either be a) people who already have it and are glad their worth just shot through the roof, people who are dumb enough to think they'll ever actually get it now without putting some real life dosh into it.
It could also just be that they're people who don't care much about ever having the set, "D3 is not WoW" kind of people but then I don't get why they're glad that the overpowered set bonus remains, either. I guess they're thinking that once they outlast all the WoW etc people, they'll eventually get it for some non-absurd amount of effort without having to pay real monies.
I think people are forgetting about another route Blizzard could take with the set. If you read the post you'll notice how they said they are not changing the set bonus for the current drops:
We are working on Legendary item changes for a future patch, as I'm sure you know, which could change the set in any variety of ways. I don't know what those changes could be yet. But regardless those changes will only affect items that drop after that patch. They aren't retroactive. Any Natalya's items that drop before that patch (ie the ones dropping now), and the set bonus, will remain unchanged regardless of future Legendary item updates.
My guess is that when they buff legendaries they will nerf the set bonus. You won't be able to mix/match the old and new sets and then you'll be torn between a reduced set bonus vs a large increase in stats. This way they don't screw over the people that dropped a lot of gold on the old set, but as long as they don't nerf the 4pc into the ground the new set will still have value.
c) Just go "fuck it" and spend a few work days worth of income in the RMAH and get 4 pieces instantly.

No it is not. Blizzard takes 15 percent if you opt to transfer to paypal
For players who opt to have the proceeds of their auction house sales go to their third-party payment service account (such as PayPal) instead of to their Battle.net Balance, or for those who have exceeded their maximum permitted Battle.net Balance and are required to use a third-party payment service, Blizzard will collect a separate transfer fee
This is Blizzard's fee. On top of that paypal will charge a fee also 3-4 percent. The 1 dollar fee is only if you are using Blizzard Balance and if you do not go over the maximun you are allowed to store in there. It is similar to how other auctions do this like ebay.

D2: .08 Shako, Valor, etc, worth a good bit
D2: after .08 patch: Shako, Valor, etc, worth an INSANE amount.
If I had to put money on it, I'd say Nat's set now is going to be worth even more after 1.1.
