People who think current loot system is fine are probably the ones who play the national lottery every week and think they're gonna get rich by doing so.

    c) Just go "fuck it" and spend a few work days worth of income in the RMAH and get 4 pieces instantly.

It's sort of obvious what Blizzard would like me to do at this point, ain't it?

I like how so many RMAH whiners seem to ignore one fact about it: no matter what item sells (not commodities), Blizz get the exact same amount from it. £1 (or $1, or 1 euro). It doesn't matter if they make the item worth hundreds of real currency, or if they make it so it'll sell for £2. Blizzard get the same cut no matter what. Hell, if anything it'd be worse for them to make super awesome items, because then people will want to sell the item outside of the RMAH (to avoid the cut and get more than £250 from the sale of the item).

I'd like to introduce you to my very good friend, 15%-cut-that-Blizzard-takes-from-all-RMAH-to-PayPal-transactions!

But yes, I take your point (to an extent). My background is in WoW raiding (used to be fairly hardcore, nowadays semi- so) where you can actually get the best stuff in game by playing (and getting it sooner the better you play), so I'm having a bit of a hard time empathizing with the people who are glad that the set bonus wasn't nerfed.

They must either be a) people who already have it and are glad their worth just shot through the roof, B) people who are dumb enough to think they'll ever actually get it now without putting some real life dosh into it.

It could also just be that they're people who don't care much about ever having the set, "D3 is not WoW" kind of people but then I don't get why they're glad that the overpowered set bonus remains, either. I guess they're thinking that once they outlast all the WoW etc people, they'll eventually get it for some non-absurd amount of effort without having to pay real monies.

Okay so realistic scenarios for getting 4 pieces of Natalya:

    a) Keep going like now, farming for loot a couple hours per day. With this amount of gold coming in, I'll never beat the gold inflation and will get the pieces (with questionable stats) through loot drops in maybe a year or two (if I'm lucky).

    B) Spend my whole summer vacation farming gold hardcore. I'll beat the gold inflation and maybe net enough gold to buy a couple pieces.

    c) Just go "fuck it" and spend a few work days worth of income in the RMAH and get 4 pieces instantly.

It's sort of obvious what Blizzard would like me to do at this point, ain't it? What I'll actually do is:

    d) Go beat Diablo with current gear and quit Diablo except for occasionally leveling some alts when I feel like it.

So Blizzard leaves in a ridiculously overpowered set bonus that is realistically available only for real money anymore (thanks to runaway inflation on gold economy). Quelle surprise.
