Cannot believe the level of hypocrisy and ignorance of some people here...
I guess my time of posting in a forum full of fanatic and intransigent people is over.
Feel free to leave and go troll elsewhere, then. Most of your posts are just snide and sarcastic remarks that hardly ever add anything for the conversation or help other users. Don't think anybody is gonna miss that. We don't really need that kind of crap in RoS again.
Found a ring that adds 16.7% chance to stun when you deal Lightning damage.... it opened up me not having to use paralysis on my wizard which meant I could go with something else.
I think even if all the legendaries had SOME proc on them or effect that made them OP, people would still complain that X proc sucks because you can just use Y. Can't please everyone and personally, I enjoy the changes to them which cause me to do new builds.

No offense, but your complaint here is completely moot. "Game-changing" does not necessarily mean "you will find this item, immediately equip it and never unequip it." I have a pair of Nemesis Bracers that I have never used in combat because my Strongarm Bracers are significantly better (when I got them I switched followers to the Enchantress for her AoE knockback). I still feel that acquiring said Nemesis Bracers has, indeed, changed my game enough to warrant the two spaces in my inventory they are taking up.
While I would agree that these shoulders are LESS-USEFUL than many other legendaries out there, I would strongly disagree that they are UESLESS. And, really, that's basically the difference that leads you to call people "fanatics." You have no sense of degree. These are not the best item out there, but they're not complete garbage either. Yet, somehow, you manage to jump into it with phrases like "most useless legendary" and then calling anyone who disagrees with that kind of irrationally-severe assessment a "hypocrite" and a "fanatic."
That's why most people here don't see eye-to-eye with you. If you had started a thread discussing how to improve this particular item I bet most people would actually agree with you in some capacity. But you go to the extreme and call them completely useless and that's exactly why people disagree with you. They're NOT useless. They just have limited use. There is a chasmic difference between the two.
It simply amounts to a lack of perspective on your part that leads you to jump directly into the deep end over something exceptionally-minor in the grand scheme of things.
Quote from seraphim4» its not just chests, works on bodies, lantern chains and pretty much anything you can click on, and the dmg is decent. i actually use the effect on that belt often on my hc monk
That is really good to know. I actually have that belt but I stashed it thinking "I don't find THAT many chests." If it works on breakables, corpses, chests, etc. then it becomes much more attractive.

Do you know if this stacks with paralysis? In your case, gives 31.7% chance to stun.
Not all Legendaries are made to be top-tier, and that's fine. There have to be some "entry level" ones so they can drop legendaries more often without just skipping everybody straight to endgame.
I found a legendary ring with Int, Vit, Armor, and Block %. I just stared at the screen, not knowing what to do besides get frustrated and blow it up.
Justice Lantern?
Most legendaries roll one of three primary stats. Rings aren't class-specific so there is no "strength-only" roll on a ring, even if it has block chance.
In reality this is so that it can still support a WD/Wiz who chooses to use a shield because they need to offer str (Barb & Crusader) and dex (Monk) versions of bock chance items. If it were somehow a strength-only item that would be like saying "we don't want monks to use shields... oh and fuck you Wiz/WDs who want to have a shield-based build too!" Not smart given how Loot 2.0 is supposed to work.
What does this even do...? like what does "Slap!" mean?
I believe it's a reference to the sound it makes. Like a wooden paddle smacking a bare ass. Utterly useless bonus. Much like Slorak's Madness, it's just a "fun" affix.

What's with people hatin on Sloraks? One of the most powerful build changing legendaries there is. +30% disintegrate damage!
You're the second person to suggest this, but is that shield really useful in those circumstances? Bearing in mind you can't move or attack, I could see it being useful if teleport or something was 1 second left on cooldown.
I'm not saying the item is useless but that seems to be overstating the use a bit.
To say that those townportal shoulders are bad is just pure ignorance... It gives you a dmg reduce shield WHENEVER YOU WANT ONE! It's like having a 7th skill. You don't have to cast your townportal to an end. Just make a short cast to save your ass from things like molten or arcane. There are lots of situations where you can't avoid area damage. So just cast your town portal in the last moment, take those hits and continue your fight.
Those shoulders are the most OP shoulders in hardcore... Softcore is just too forgiving with deaths...
As one who owns a pair of those shoulders. You still take around 35% damage (depending on your roll), so you can't just panic-town portal while standing in arcane/molten/poison/etc. They're actually not very useful. Only thing they really can be used for is TP'ing and you get hit by the odd quill back you hadn't noticed. May be useful for HC, but I doubt it.

Justice Lantern is a damn fine ring in HC play if you use a shield.
I'm seeing one issue already. People are so cynical, they won't take the time to understand the "depth and complexity" they've been clamoring for.
I agree with this. I rolled MP 10 with all my characters. Now with my wiz, half of my gear is the new loot, and I absolutely love it. I paired my ice SoJ with ice legendary bracers (forget the name). I have the new Tal helm (the new set for Tal ' look badass. Found a perfect legendary ammy to kick butt in arcon mode, nice depth diggers pants with tons of Intel and vit. It's been so funny experimenting with gear and builds, and then when that legendary drops when you see greens and skill bonuses for your build, it really is a wonderful feeling. A feeling I haven't felt really in D3 yet. I had the illusion of drops will come way back when - soon to realize it will never come. Now? I'm actually excited for RoS because I can find and use my own gear. I don't have to browse through a spreadsheet to find gear. And my loot is freaking g sick! And like I said I was always an MP 10 player.
Edit: don't know why it didn't quote your whole statement. Posting on a smart phone isn't always perfect lol

Not hating on it. Just pointing out that the orange "legendary" affix may sometimes be passive.
HOWEVER.....many Legendaries, such as the Justice Lantern, will have an effective arrangement of primary affixes with a much more optimal roll range (Justice Lantern~ 15%-20% Life).
I seriously don't understand all the hate that Slorak's Madness, Pig Sticker, The Paddle and all the similar items get.Are those properties useless? Well, they don't have any practical use, that's for sure, but they do put a smile on your face even if just for a moment. Most importantly however, unlike the "real orange properties" that actually do something, those funny ones do not waste any of the six magical properties of item, so in effect they are just like any other legendaries without special properties.
It kind of blows away the fourth wall. As soon as you read some of the "funny" affects, you don't typically say "oh haha how neat!! I got an item that does something cool and you unique!" for more than mere moments.
The fact that many of the legendary items in 2.0.1 are somewhat unknown among the populace, when they get discovered they should get the gears in everyones head turning. in fact I see it as an opportunity to boost the respect for the game for each player every time an interesting item drops. interesting items drive the game. not "funny or cute" interesting. but "combat" interesting. "character evolution" interesting. Because the feel of fighting in D3 is so amazing, these weapons and armor are in a position to push the game into the stratosphere. and I think that threads like this being born and weapons being rolled with gimicky humour affixes really expose the ignorance same with the debate about runes that no one uses. in reference to the short comings of the skill system. oh sure you can discuss the the pros and cons all day. but its sad to see so few "strafe" builds.
And with items you can do the same, but its sad to see legendary items referred to as "hunks of shit" or "brimstone"
and this is after the original design of legendaries, after the first revision that brought it the "skorn/EF" movement and still after patch 2.0.1 when 2 handed legendary items are brutally broken while raining from the sky, and item stat rolls were all shunted down in preparation of the next 10 levels of the expansion
for how many millions of brimstones have been created you can say players might appreciate shoulders that cake you in a damage shield while you cast town portal. It's harder to say players will appreciate a wand that "plays a sound file" when your character dies. to me thats why I expect the hate...:P
My Pig Sticker was awesome, it meant some damage loss compared to my former wand, but it came with an amazing healing boost that I was needing. And the sound makes me chuckle every time...
Maybe if you guys start thinking about the game as a game instead of a math test you'll enjoy more
