posted a message on Patch 2.4 Release Date estimate anyone?

January, give or take a few weeks. I imagine they hope to have it out before Christmas, but I'd say chances are they'll run late.

posted a message on [Debate] Cheating in D3? What is cheating and what is not?

    Quote from Venaliter
and I get that, in the strictest interpretation. But my argument is this: High level GR play is extremely flawed; the density and mob makeup is atrocious, and you NEED THud to actually complete most high level rifts because they are so broken. The definition of cheating is gaining an unfair advantage; THud just levels the playing field of a broken system.

I agree that GRs have issues in balance - density all over the place and combination of monsters makes the difference between a successful run and a failure. However this is present at every level, since the right rift can net you fast completion times (and we're talking about minutes, not seconds); it's just that at high GR these minutes/seconds can make the difference beween clearing it or not.

    However.

Would GR 80+ have been cleared if it wasn't for TurboHUD? Surely not since as you said, you need it to se the stuff beforehand.
The problem is that you're not meant to see this kind of stuff, thus you're not meant to clear these levels at all.

The issue is not about you needing TurboHUD to be competitive; the issue is that since at least one guy uses it and has an advantage over everyone else due to that, everyone can either use the same tools or abadon the competition entirely. And we all know how this ended.

You feel that you need TurboHUD just because it has been developed and another player has started using it.

You don't actually need TurboHUD for nothing in the game. You can do perfectly fine completely without it - plenty of high GR runners that play without it.

That's fair. But it goes back to the very same point: If everyone else is using it, I HAVE to as well to complete; Because let's face it, we agree without Thud you're handicapped. You're not going to get as high as everyone else.
Like I said, I understand THud is technically against the rules, but a) it levels the playing field b) I don't find it nearly at the same level of cheating as botting, and c) it fills in features the game really should have baseline, like levels of gems, my dps, and most importantly where the monsters are in the meta of "group up everything and mow them down" to win.
It's just a broken system. In all honestly, I think the game would be better if it was baseline. I realize my argument is on a slippery slope, but I thought we were debating this, and trying to have a genuine conversation.

I really dont consider ThuD cheating. It shows you information that SHOULD be in game already; in particular, you're DPS and how skills/different legendary powers influence your character. ThuD is bending the rules to make the game make more sense / more enjoyable.

Botting is outright cheating, and that's why I do not play Diablo 3 anymore.

Just because you think it's ok doesn't make it ok. It's against the law (here blizz d3 TOS 2) and hence it is not allowed. This is a typical saying of any criminal hence, somebody using Thud is a criminal in the official sense.

    Quote from chadwxgo-next

Safe to say, the expansion pack is garbage. A5 (mobs/tile sets) is a total shit pile and the xpansion class is awful.

3 mandatory items and still the worst in the game. Nice job blizzard

Worst in solo; 2nd from worst in group/speed. Wizard is last.

So you have a class with no good defensive passives, no good defensive actives (including no damage immunities at all), and almost no survival boosts on their full item sets. Necros would get rekt hard.

I think that you missed some things here and there. If anything, Necros (as I designed them) are low on dmg but practically immortal,-_-
Now THIS quote is worthy of mockery. That is not how Diablo works. Even if your on the nigh unkillable, either you need to support your allies or your useless...in basically every aspect of the game.

    2. Some of the commenters here need to go rinse the sand out and relax. It's called "Fan" made for a reason!

Nobody's been unfair or mean. We all acknowledge his valiant effort. It's just we don't see how a necro wouldn't overlap a WD. A WD is a cursing, summoning dot-focused class. I mean, that's necro in a nutshell.
I suppose it's possible the necro could return, but I would lay my money on a druid or an amazon. Because, you know, Skovos.

very nice ideas and probably a shit ton of work - sadly blizz said multiple times already that there will be no necro because we already got the wd.

This. I don't get the whole obession with necros. Golems are garguatuans, and skeletons are zombie dogs. It's already done, people. There will be no necromancer.
Like I said though, this guy put in a ton of effort. It's just something they have stated will never be.

A LOT of effort for a class that already exists, albeit under a different name :-(

    But a great effort!

posted a message on Please nerf healing monk

Can we all please tweet at the developers or something and get the healing monk build nerfed? The game is not fun when you have to bring a monk to 2/3/4 player groups so that he can heal the entire party for 120% of their life every second, making them immortal unless they get one shot.

Just wanted to say this dude was right on. Healing monks the new ZDPS WDs

I play season only and the point of removing perma cc was to eliminate pussy style play and to force each player to build their character with independent survivability. This does exactly the same thing as support/perma cc did. Forces you to bring a specific support class so that the others can just stack damage stats and pick 3 of the top dps. Nothing has changed

You must be new to video games to say that. In all games there are suport and tank roles that peel while the dps do all the damage, diablo is no exception and there are item sets oriented for that playstyle. This QQ giberish comming from a supposedly "top 5 player" seems highly unlogical, and that statement is highly questionable.

DIFFERENT support roles, but not one to rule them all, to borrow the phrase. That'll be exactly what happens. If true.

Has anyone even seen this build? I'd like to see it.

Because 100% life pool healing per second is not fun co-op play, bringing diverse class comps is

I'm a top 5 leaderboard player and would prefer to have fun group comps

so i just want to point this out, is that you are stating that you want there to be diverse comps, and fun group comps, but bash on anyone who wants to play as a tank or a support.
That is not so. He's bashing on one class being mandatory to progress, and he's right, if it's true. Healing monks will be the new ZDPS WD.

posted a message on 2.3 Roundup - Wizard

Nah, 2.3 Wiz is just fine. DelRasha is even stronger, Archon is very strong as well but a bit on the complex side. WTB Firebirds rework though...

While we, and everyone, agrees FB is terrible, I will wager you right now Wiz weakest class in 4 mans, and probably the bottom, or 2nd from the bottom, in solo.
