If there were more then 8 people allowed on a server... say 20... and the game name was lvl n talk or something and you joined after the host killed a boss and got the quest. you would still be able to do the quest and the boss respawns?
Well this wasn't the case in D2, and rightly so. Each created game needs to be looked at like it is a new 'parallel universe' in a way, where all the bosses have yet to be killed. You shouldn't be allowed to kill the same boss twice in one game (or 'parallel universe' :P).
Personally I liked D1 for the fact one cleared out an area, it was cleared out. I could see a few new creature making their way back in like in D2. I would prefer they keep it that way.
If you joined a game called 'saving cain' then it means you need team help to save him. If everyone in that game has already saved him, they've already done that quest. So what you're hoping for is that cain is captured again, and everyone in the game repeats the quest to satisfy your wants?
well im just saying dont you hate joining games called saving cain... and when you join they alreay saved him
But i agree with this. It's kind frustrating eneter a game were people are already ending something or in the middle of something.
Assuming D3 will be "runs" free, it only gets worse because in now you will enter in the middle of something that will last longer then 1~3 min, so you can't just wait till the run is over and get the next roll.
They should really put a timer in the room profile. So if the game appears in the game list with 00:10, the party are already ending something and you may not want to enter that game. But if it shows something like 00:00 or 00:01 the party must be just strating the dungeon.

I think thats a wonderful Idea. A running timer is exactly what should be shown in Bnet. It would be able to give you some kind of idea as to where they are and if it would be worth it to load up the game.

Wow that is a super sexy idea....
ohh wait thats right. Diablo 2 already has that wtf....
Just 4? Link please. I have found nothing but discussions about the matter, otherwise they said its currently fair, but the number is still up in the air and they are looking to get to 8.
I personally think 4 is a bit low, but at the same time, 8 might be too big. The problem is, whatever the max is, a good bunch will only play this. I know thats how I do. So a max of 6 would probably be much better.
On topic, boss shouldn't respawn... no point at all. And don't expect more than 8 players. 20? Thats just silly thinking. However, that players from all over can communicate with each other (as you can in a MMO), these are probably the kind of things bnet 2.0 may offer. Who knows. But 9+ players in a game is -not- going to happen. This isn't a fact, but I'm pretty god damn sure about it.
We should have some kind of information about the game we are about to join in the chat interface of battle.net2. Like which quests are still available in the game etc.

zomg a free game... its been up for 2 hours!
Just 4, so there's no need to discuss
ha ha. Maybe they can just make the timer more obvious, or have some game status updates. Like a checklist,
Diablo Slain: box with or without check
(insert another demon name) slain: box with or without check
Then you could customize what status you want to see to. So If you're looking for a Diablo slaying game, make your checklist show that.
so 4 for sure?
or is it 4+you so 5?

What? It does? Making it more accessible/obvious would be nice
