I have seen that a lot of people are upset over the new color scheme, claiming it to have a lot of rainbows and unicorns. Well why not have a couple different color schemes that players can choose. I believe the darker colors are better looking but, the variety changes it up a bit and also looks good IMO. So, I really don't care for colors much.
Anyway, onto the reasons as to why this is a good option. The darker colors would be easier for computers to run with. A lot of people don't like the multitude of colors. It's basically a win/win when we could choose between the two. What are your thoughts on this?

I hope to the Highest Heaven that this does not turn in to another art debate thread or art rant thread.
I think, if they would do it, that would be awesome. It would also be good for people who get bored of one and want to mix it up and switch to the other and everybody would win, like you said. This would affect lighting and textures, right?
I think diablo 3 art should be left alone. What some people don't seem to understand is that diablo 3 does not have one color scheme...at all. According to last year's blizzcon, the color scheme changes as you progress through the game. You will start off in a lighter, greener atmosphere, and as you progress through the ever increasingly dark story-line, the color scheme gets darker. this idea is dynamic and absolutely brilliant. common guys, stop being clingy with diablo "back-in-the-day", diablo 3 is the next-gen of art. GET READY FOR AWESOMENESS!

Yes, It would balance everything accordingly.
Umtwademel, I'm not scrutinizing as I like both color schemes, I do like the idea that it progressively gets darker, more gruesome as we play along the storyline.

I doubt changing the colors will have any effect for weaker computers. Logically speaking. Not that I know much about this. Unless you make the game black & white.
The suggestion was there in that topic about the art direction, and its a good one. The player can simply choose to change the color in different ways to make it darker/fit his tastes slightly more.
Its true that we don't know how the game will look like in the end. Its going to be darker and darker, maybe so, but the colors might still be too bright or varried for some people.
Now I am wholeheartedly against most changes from the current styles, but the options do to so (assuming it is well done and looks relatively good) would make a lot more people happy.
Beside, like Seth said, you could just give another color scheme a try every now and then, giving you a fresher/different look on the game's various places. I seriously think this feature is worth having.
Well, that won't entirely fix the issue. Different people prefer different styles in the textures, as well, which can't be adjust with your graphics card.

Could we make an art rant thread or is that off limits?
Not that i'm going to just curious.

I am cheese. I am loved by all. I go great with everything. Other foods hate me because I take all the glory. Like Nachos..Their just jealous cause no one eats them unless Im there. Shit..I even ruined broccili's rep. Broccili kept talkin shit so I was like. " You know what?, I think I might melt myself on some Broccilli. See how those humans enjoy that green [sexual slur censored] now." Shit...Now,People dont even touch him, unless Im all over that shit! Ahhh..Its not easy, being cheesy.. Peace. Cheese Out.

I'm no mod, but I would say it would be totally fine if it wasn't the hundredth one we have seen. That topic is old news. It was lame when it started, and now that the dead horse has been beaten beyond all recognition, it is the lamest topic that could possibly exist. I personally wish the art rants would die already (not that I am saying this is one). Its like a horror movie villain: they are all ugly, most of them just get uglier over time, they always come back when you least expect them, and the sequels just keep getting cheesier.

Different styles in textures would mean making the visuals of the game several times? Sounds like a lot of work
The game is fine, it is the artists and developers work and imagination and it should be respected.
Would you ask picasso to paint same painting with different style and colors
I'd tell I'd have liked it better with a different style and colors. But painting the same painting again is a waste of time. If he agreed with me, he'd use the criticism on another painting. Diablo 3, on the other hand, can be modified instead of having to be made again from scratch to change something.
I don't agree with the "oh noes! colors!" folks, but your argument makes no sence to me.
Why ruin a good looking game?
Anyways it is still just a waste of time to evaluate how the game looks when we have only seen a couple of areas. "The game has too much this and that" okey.. yeah I guess all the areas will be the same.
but anyways i'm done.. I'd rather see them finish the game 1-2 months sooner than add options to different colour options or something. Besides posting screenshots of you gaming somewhere would be quite stupid when your game looks a lot different than the other guys.
@OP As far as I'm aware, you can't make different colour options for the game. The only way to do that is to make an entirely different version of the game. Its like trying to change someone's dna. Every file of every visual is coloured specifically, you can't just add different filters over it like you can in photoshop (or so they have explained to us in the past).

Definitely off limits. Like what Morden said, its been way overdone.

Blizzard is not going to do this anyway, it's a lot of work put in for what? For someone wanting a slightly different color to look at?
Plus if they do this, it's like them saying "Hey we think the color in D3 isn't all that great, so we'll add a new one. That way you can select which one you dislike the least."
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

Well the discussion here is will dimming down the color aspect help the computer run better.
yes.
but really, you got games like wow, tons of color, (which i have a old average computer with a graphics card that does not have a 3d accelerator so i cant play it, haha), and some of these good games with colors yes makes the computer run harder. but doesnt make it explode so to say.
I feel the color in the game is a good thing. And still, i feel they will work on the texture of monsters, characters, and eviroment better in the upcoming future, which then will need those colors.

No, you cannot. That would be a violation of the trolling rule at this point (something like "posting controversial topics with the intent of riling other members up".)

Well, it's not impossible for a multi-billion-dollar company, I think. And that's what they're being paid to do- work Do I think that they actually will do it, though? No, I don't. But I would support it if they did.
The game is fine, it is the artists and developers work and imagination and it should be respected.
I actually completely agree, but the game also isn't just for the developers, its for the players, too, and if the players are rabidly desiring something else, I think they should take it heavily in to consideration. Allowing a choice lets everyone win.

Yes, actually, if I could. It would be interesting to see what he could have come up with
