posted a message on Alternate ideas for a different kind of ranged character for Diablo 3!
I think Messenger has a great idea. Make it a criminal mastermind type character. The name could easily be Thief or Rogue (maybe a different band than the Act 1 rogue so we can have a male.). You wouldn't want it too be to slow though either, so Blizzard probably wouldn't have to make stealth unless it was part of some sort of ambush attack. Great ideas though.

posted a message on "MF, additional XP, additional gold, speed increase, etc. on items"?
MF was overplayed in D2. It showed up to much, and we were allowed to get way to much of it. There should be a pretty decent cap on it as well. MF is nice to have, but it should be a requirement, it should be a rarer stat that doesn't show up on a lot of items so it becomes a bonus but noth an stat to try and stack.

and yes, i prefer old, tetris style but it needs to be fixed...till 2011 - BWAHAHAHAHAAHHA!!!!!
hey guys! we will play D3 only till 2012, then the world ends. Pity.

First things first, don't spread world destruction propaganda without scientific proof of the happenings. Now if that comet that is going to hit the earth in 20 years isn't taken care of, thats a real threat, but wtf is going to happen in 2012 that we could not have scientifically predicted yet, the sun going to blow up or something?

Also, as far as Wizards with swords, nobody said it couldn't happen. In fact, Bashiok already stated that you probably will be able to use sword and shield on Wizards, the things they want to limit are wands on Barbs (because those are ranged now), and two handers on casters (because it doesn't make sense).

And finally, on topic, I personally like the new inventory style. So what if a sword is the same size as a wand, who gives a shit? They are both functionally the same (a weapon). ALL weapons and armor that I have seen will take two slots and all smaller items will take one. Is that unfair? It doesn't have to be 100% size equivalent. In fact, I hated the D2 system, it was really stupid in my opinion. This new style is a great mix between their original D3 style and the old D2 system.

    posted a message on Mercs!!!
Personally, I am all for the idea if they balance it out a bit. They should never really make or break a build, just benefit the player by having an extra hand. I have heard there will actually be two kinds of mercs (or at least in theory).

The first kind of merc is just a follower. You meet em in a random quest, you try to help them escape, they probably die but they survive maybe you get a reward. These cannon fodder mercs can be seen well in the 2008 WWI gameplay vid.

The second kind will be an actual companion. This won't be a guy you hire from a merc company, you befriend them and they offer to join you. They come with back stories, unique names, and some unique character archetypes. These characters will have meaning and you will want to outfit them well to keep them alive.

I personally think companions having skill trees is a great idea. They start somewhere when you get them, and they progress in their skill. You should be able to customize them a bit so not everybody's merc is the same.

Remember, this has got to be really balanced tho. I know its a lot more balance work though, maybe even too hard to balancf entirely.

posted a message on Bashiok on the Witch Doctor's "Zombie Dogs"
I personally think it will be much better as an actual passive. Maybe you could pick both or choose which you summon if you invest in both skills. I definately think that it should not only add damage but add that effect and extra damage when you blow them up.

I think a good idea would be like fire mongrels get extra fire damage on melee and apply a dot (show monsters burning when its applied) when they attack. When you sacrifice them, they explode with a fiery blast, damaging enemies and also inflicting a fire dot. These guys would help a lot in big battles with strong monsters and bosses. Powerful in single target, but has aoe backup.

Locust mongrels would be aoe based. When they strike it inflicts with locust plague, hitting the target and then passing to nearby enemies. Very good for big groups and bosses with a lot of cronies. On explosion it would emit a big blast of locusts that infect and spread. It would eventually be like a locust swarm nova.

That's just a few ideas though. I'm insterested to see these bigger versions, do we have any pics of those or have we not seen that yet? It sounds like it would be sweet.

posted a message on New Monk Gameplay vid [best part is ..]
Yes4me, I hate to say this bro, but if you don't like the way Diablo 3 is looking thats your opinion. You really don't have to play it, and its not going to break any of our hearts to hear that...

On a more serious note, I think this guy fits a monk pretty well. He mixes the martial arts of an Assassin with the Holy Magic of a Paladin. Hes got some debuff action going on in some new ways. Maybe he will have some party buffs? Who knows. I just personally think they really stretched the image of what a Monk really is. Its not like they just yanked it from DnD and said "here we go", I think they really did a good job of bringing out what a monk would be in the Diablo world. Super sweet, imo, it will be my first class if the ranger sucks.

posted a message on News on LAN support for Diablo III and Starcraft II
You know, they could fix the issue of everyone playing on one CD-Key very easy. When two people connect and they share the same CD-Key, and try to start a game, it simply tells them "Cannot Proceed: CD-Key match is unnacceptable" or something like that. I think it could be done without internet connection, but I don't think Blizzard will shoot for it...

Doesn't really kill me at all, but I know a lot of people love to play on LAN.

posted a message on D3 on Consoles
To be honest, I don't give two shits if they make it for console as long as it doesn't delay the PC version (and I doubt it would). Anybody play Diablo on Playstation? Say it once, it blew. I hated it. Wouldn't even think about it. That being said, I am sticking to the PC version like everyone else here. They want to make it open to X-box live? Let them. It will probably end up a bunch of fag kids like L4D on 360, and nobody will want to play it anyway.

Personally, I think its a half decent business decision if they can pull it off. I won't be playing it though, so I don't really care.

posted a message on With town portals gone...
I specifically remember hearing Jay Wilson say that TPs are gone for now, and they hope to make it so they aren't a need anymore. That doesn't mean they are officially gone, just in this build. Blizz will probably try to come up with some other way to somewhat efficiently return to town, but without allowing you to do it mid boss or mid combat.

In fact, I am with Monkage (and I have said this before as well), TP isn't going to ruin the game if its created the right way. No, we should not be able to TP during combat. If mobs are around or we are in a boss chamber, TP should be 100% impossible. You could technically run from mobs and then go TP, of coarse, but if you watched the monster part of the panel, some mobs wont really quit following you. The Dune Thresher, for example, is what they refer to as a "hunter". It will hunt you down until you kill it, leave the area, or go into a dungeon I assume. Maybe if you had the ability to move away fast enough (with speed upgrade if thats still in the game), it would stop, but when you first encounter these its not going to be easy.

What I say is, bring in TP, but don't let it be within combat. Boss rooms should lock you in so you can't leave and TP as well. TP is a very good thing if used correctly. However, I do think they should be a bit more limited than in D2. Make em cost more, make em drop less so they are worth something instead of spam candy like the potions were. If they remove them, there should at least be a definite way to get back to town every once in a while (like the old waypoint system). They gotta make those things easier to find too XD, that got ridiculous. Even if you aren't trying to noob up and sell EVERYTHING you come across, there is still the possibility of getting really luck drops (magic find anybody? it was supposedly in the demo build for 09), and you end up with a buch of uniques. When your inventory is full of shit you want, and then something else nice you wanna keep drops, how are you going to take it if they don't give you a good chance to take shit back to town, sell or stash it, and come back with a fresh open inventory?

I respect the man for obvious reasons, but I get annoyed when any performer / entity / franchise / whatever continues to book gigs based soley on a name...

Even Michael Jordan knew when to hang it up...well, eventually. :)

Well, its not that he can't sing... He can still sing of coarse, but just not like he used to. I really hope when I get old I don't lose my voice that bad. Its sad to even think about.

XD, I figured it might hold some relevance for anybody tuned into the live stream for the next 15-20 minutes. I really won't be at all offended if it gets moved, I just wanted to see some talk on it while the event occurred.

posted a message on Blizzcon- Ozzy
So don't tell Sharon I said this, or she might kick me out of OzzFest just like she did Iron Maiden, but seriously what happened to that guys' voice? I can't say I am going to complain, being a vocal enthusiast and singer myself, I know exactly what its like when people get old. Hell, I can sing some Ozzy (not like he does), some Iron Maiden (pretty well actually), hell I have even hit the highest notes of Bohemian Rhapsody during my good days (I'm serious, it was nice while it lasted, damn cigarettes). Anyhow, just having a mild throat or lung infected screws you over. I feel bad for the guy really, as he is a rock legend, however I feel even worse for his fans, especially the younger ones who never heard him while he was in his prime. I wish I could have been there myself. Long live rock, and long live Ozzy, but man do I wish he still had that voice in him. I for one get an inspired feeling when a man can sing higher than most women, and make it sound awesome. That for me is vocal skill as a man.

posted a message on Am I the only one who thinks there are too much effects ?
Yeah, I have to admit I don't mind the excessive blood-splatter either, but I see a pattern here. I too am a HUGE Tarentino fan. Probably not the biggest fan, haven't seen all the movies yet, and really don't have anything of collector value, however I do know that I am extremely impressed with every movie of his that I have had a chance to view. Ever since Kill Bill I started getting into this guy, watching old stuff. Just a month ago I watched Reservoir Dogs, which I had a dirty secret of never seeing over the years, but I loved it as well. Inglorious Bastards anybody? A little more main-stream on the actors, but looks great none the less (imho).

Back on topic, I really do like all the blood. It really depends on the event though. I mean, lets face it, if you just randomly blew up into nothing but pieces, wouldn't you expect a huge effin mess left of you? The average human body on its own holds tons of blood, imagine what some of these bigger monsters would be capable of holding (or hell, maybe they don't have blood, maybe they have something else?). Blood squirtings do look a little unnatural when you see them, but then again this is a game. Its supposed to excite and impress. What is more impressive that having the ability to smash a monster so hard he explodes into a huge eruption of blood that spills the ground.

Personally, however, I would love to see more of the blood on the character. Anybody who has played Gears of War 2 that when you (spoiler alert, highlight over to reveal) cut the arteries of and cut your way out of the giant worm there is just so much blood that your character is actually covered in red, almost too much. I would LOVE to see some guy explode and rain blood all over a Barbarian or a Monk and just see them standing there with their skin, weapons, and armor covered in blood as your picking up the phat loot they just dropped. It wouldn't be hard at all, especially if they are at a point where they are literally giving us the ability through skills and abilities to cut pieces of flesh and bone off of our enemies. I'm actually going to watch the video again, and if that is not incorporated I am going to suggest it on the Blizz forums.

posted a message on God in Diablo 3
So, I don't know for sure or not, but is there supposed to be, or is there room left open for there to be a "God" that kinda stands over the High Heavens?

If so, and if God ever speaks, I really think it should be Morgan Freeman....

posted a message on Regarding D3 online play
For the average coop game they say max is going to be 4. That was as of last year. They did mention they have tried 5, but over time it just keeps getting closer to 4. I think its pretty safe to say at this point your average cooperative game is going to be limit 4.

However, they have not mentioned what they want to implement for trade and pvp. It is still very possible that if they choose to use different game types, we could see a PvP game with more than 4 players to allow for bigger PvP encounters.

Also, trade hasn't been discussed much either. We could see an auction system, but if not they may have a very open trade game style. Hell, it could even be 50+ players if they wanted, like an open stock market for items. You could then have tons of people coming in and out of these games trading and such. It might get cluttered, but they could make it a moderate sized trading area, yet no where near as big as the whole game. You wouldn't be loading the whole thing, you would be loading a single area, and it would allow for many people to exist in one area for trading purposes.

Who knows what they have in store for us. I personally have been trying to figure out this Twitter shit to see if I can get some answers, but for the life of me I can't grasp this Twitter concept. Its making me start to feel old, and I'm only fucking 19...
