Well I’ve had worse luck than most of my friends in the past in D3 (300+ hours played and no items worth over 3 million until now), but that all was worth it when my new best friend, Zoltun Kulle, dropped these for me yesterday.
The stats were something like (I only screenshotted the auction house sell page apparently):
ilvl 63 Archon Pants
795 total Armor
+115 Str
+190 Vit
+57 Arcane Res
+71 All Res
+391 Armor
and one other stat I think - it was low - like maybe 60 dex
The only way for them to get much better would have been to roll a pair of sockets. Anyway, there was nothing similar on the AH so I posted them for 150 million buyout and they sold quickly (I probably underpriced them, but oh well).
My question here is – what is/are the best (most efficient is what I mean by best) classes/specs to farm with on a ~100 million budget? Currently I have a 1h+shield Barbarian with high Crit and Crit Dmg and she is doing very well in Act 2 Inferno farming. I’d like to use the money to move into Act 3, but I have all of the classes at 60 or near 60, so if there is a class/spec that scales better with money, then I’m game for that too. Barbarian also seems to be FOTM so Barbarian gear is significantly more expensive than any other kind for now, which is a lot of the reason why I'm curious.
Just hopeful that somebody here has experiences around the 70-100 million gold range and could weigh in with their thoughts.
You've asked an opinion question so I will share my opinion.
You mentioned you play a Barb (as do I) so I will say that you should play the class that gives you the most enjoyment, not what class is most efficient, because if you're not having fun, you won't spend the time to farm. The time spent playing this game is far more important than efficiency. If you're anything like me, I can't stand playing range classes because I hate to kite. I like getting up in the action and smashing things. If your Barb is already sailing through act 2, then just use this new found gold to enhance your barb. If you were a new player and didn't already have a good starting point (and still had 100m to spend), I would tell you to play Monk because monk is easier to gear up for act 3 than Barb IMHO. I think Monk is an amazing class (mainly because One with Everything is so good). GL to you.
I'm very doubtful when I hear people claim 200-300+ hours and no items over a million. I'm just under 200 hours and I've sold dozens of items for a million or more, and many more for a bit less just to get rid of them quickly. I have a feeling a lot of people are failing to recognize good gear and vendoring it.

I've found probably 5-6 items worth 1-3 million, and I found a mace this morning worth about 8 million (my second over 3 million), but that stuff is nothing like this.

Must be luckier than me then I have about 150 hours played and highest selling item I've sold was around 500K
The most powerful spec with unlimited funds is a 4-set Natalya's Demon Hunter, but I don't think you can hack that with 'only' 100 million.
After that, Barbarian is clearly the most powerful class, and 100 million should be more than enough money to ignore mobs and Insanity down elites. I don't think Wicked Wind Wizards are too far behind, and you can gear one out pretty nicely on that budget.
I don't think non-WW Wizards or Demon Hunters scale terribly well with gear (they're more sexy for being strong while undergeared than going nuts with great gear); Monk doesn't have anything on the level of Overpower/Revenge/Insanity, and Witch Doctor...ok, I don't understand Witch Doctor at all, so if it gets totally nuts at high gear levels someone else will have to fill you in.
Basically if you enjoy Barbarian, gear your Barbarian, you should have no problem at all cobbling together a set that can blow up the entire game without trying too hard at that price point.
Mind blown at how that actually sold for 150m. People must be doing some hardcore drugs.
Edit:
Also you want to gear a Barbarian. They're the easiest compare to all the other class when geared.
Majority of people might say Demon Hunter, but they are definitely one of the harder class to master. DH requires lots of concentration and good dodging skills even with 100m gear. With the Barbarian you can go relaxation mode and just kill everything and move every once in awhile.
im so fuckin jelly also, highest item sold was for 800k
i think u should gear the 5 classes with 20 million each, searching cheap things on ah is more entertaining than the game itself
A monk with about 200 million will blow stuff up as fast as anything. You can get over 100k dps on the sheet permanently plus overawe and whirlwinds are bonus offsheet high dps. There are a few extreme dps monks out there equal to any class. But if you want to play a barb, play a barb. And enjoy the game.

I think the moral of this story is... If it's basically a maxed-stat item, sell it for as high as possible. I'm really surprised you didn't try to sell this for $250 on the RMAH, because that's probably what it's going for.

I mean i found a 900dps rare ceremonial dagger that will sell for 8-15M probably... but other than that ... my highest selling item was 250k...
Pick your favorite and go for it.

Assuming people actually play Witchdoctors
Pretty much, I bought a pair of pants with similar stats except 19MF for 45m, and they sat on the AH for 12 hrs before I saw them and snatched em.
Atleast 200 hours played, not an item over 50k.
