Until we get the game in our hands on some undisclosed midnight, smell it creepily, rub it on our privates, install it, play it endlessly neglecting food, excretory functions, and significant others, we just flat won't know how good the game is. Worrying about what sparse information you have about a video game still in heavy development just tells me that you have a nervous disposition and too much time on your hands.

I think we have more than just sparse information to be debating things about the game. If you have a problem with us discussing these issues, then like, get lost?

Face it: You don't have more than just sparse information. And the bottom line is, what the OP is so "worried" about are hardly issues, they're misinformed neuroses. This game has more than a year's worth of development ahead of it. Now I'm no Bliz cheerleader, and you won't hear me say "trust Blizzard.." I do think they rely on our mindful feedback. But when some emokid shows up and starts "sharing" his/her "worries" about character classes looking like Disney characters, or starts complaining about an isometric camera when he/she clearly has little grasp on the essential elements of the Diablo franchise, that person is gonna get a snarky reply or two.
Oh and thanks for pseudo moderating, we all need people like you to come "represent" on behalf of the poor helpless community that can't handle a couple of pointed replies. If you have a problem with me dissenting these issues, then like, get lost?

A couple of things the OP was complaining about were the classes so far. He said he didn't like the Witch Doctor or the Monk. Fair enough to not like them. His reasons for not liking them were not very convincing, and that's why I was compelled to wholly disagree with them. But I never accused him of being neurotic or having a nervous disposition just for starting a conversation about it. He said he wanted more than just a fixed isometric view, which we're all pretty sure will not happen. And many addressed that concern of his too, but no one said he had no right to want complete freedom in camera angles.
Oh and thanks for pseudo moderating, we all need people like you to come "represent" on behalf of the poor helpless community that can't handle a couple of pointed replies.
Really, it's my pleasure. Let me just check my sarcasm detector to verify the sincerity of your....Holy SHIT! You blew it up!
An example. Muling and all forms of item sharing with yourself should be made impossible. Most people disagrees.
I agree, I never cared for tinkers, or tinking ( is that what they used to call it?), but its sort of the same thing when a level 90 gives you a bunch of items, so I guess people might as well have the ability to do it to their own charaters as well
Therefore I'm worried about the auto-stating feature, making HC even more HC. Any thoughts?
I'd have to say, I kind of support it.. the reason is that I'm violently opposed to mix-maxing. When stat allocations determine your build/skills, it makes for vanilla gaming. Yes, I recognize the irony of avoiding "sameness" by disallowing custom stat allocation.. but really I think it will allow more focus on creative builds and rotations, rather than picking the best mathy build based around strategic min-max skill point allocation.
As for HC, I think this will just challenge the player to really "design" their character to be able to survive in that environment.

I think the change to the stat system is one of the best things to come to Diablo. I thought the stat system in D2 was pure garbage, and essentially made for only 2 stat builds: max block, or max vitality. Yes, I realize certain more unique builds were different than this, but these were the 2 quintessential builds. I've played a few games with fixed stats now, and I love the idea of customizing through gear entirely. It makes for a lot more variability, in my opinion.

Hmm. Actually stats work when you don't have to choose between defensive and offensive stats. For instance, you have the Toughness statistic that is like a combination of Strength and Vitality, it gives physical damage and hit points. Or the Dexterity ability which gives armor class, block, chance to hit and critical chance. Choosing between those two is more a matter of what kind of character you want to make, and I think they are easier to balance.
On the other hand, in D2s case that would just mean Barbarians always pick toughness and the unannounced fifth (presumably ranged) class always picks Dexterity. So yeah auto stats is better I guess.
Dude there any multiple stats system in many different games that works.
It didn't work in D2 for a couple of reasons. D2 stats are imbalanced in a extreme way. STR basically does not increase your damage, it onlyallows you to pick better items.
The problem is that the best items in the game requires a low amount of STR, so why bother ?
And it's part of runeword's fault because you can add extreme effects in relatively light items.
If runeword were inexistent and you had to bump 200 STR things would be totally different.
Really, stats are not that ahrd to balance. If they can balance skill, they can balance stats, since tecnically stats are nothing more then a separate skill type, but it's easier because it's only 2 or 3 for character.
The thing is the name/class ''witch doctor'' sucks, and thats it.
Can you imagine a witch doctor charging into hell, fighting hordes of demons and slaying the lord of terror himself? You can't, the class is completely out of place. They should have sticked with necromancer, or warlock, or whatever.
The monk is ok i guess, but like airandius i was like ''wtf?!'' when i saw him blinking and exploding things.
Well I have to disagree with u on the WD this is 1 class that kinda pulled me his way the voodoo vibe of the char just fits if u ask me.
Monk I am not so keen on but I havent played any of the classes, I am not keen on combo's.
As for camera angle I can not see any other way to play this game I mean are you gonna run into 20+ mobs and target each 1 at a time that would be brutal! IMO isometric is the only way to play this game!
Some1 said you could zoom but I think they have changed that and it is now fixed at a certain distance and thats fine by me.
All in all I think these parts of the game are set and thats fine by me I look forward to playing the WD not so sure I will ever play the monk much but hey I didnt play the ASN in D2 and I didnt die from it so hey im good.
Ok first, the name of the witch doctor is fine (and how is he at all a Disney character?) However, I do agree with you a little on the topic of the witch doctor. he seems a tiny bit silly, especially the toad thing. But, I trust blizzard to get him a little more serious. Plus, he already looks like a BAMF. All that needs to be changed is some of his abilities. And don't you bad mouth the monk. He is a great addition to the classes, and much better than having another blizzard paladin.
wtf karate kid? seriously, thats dangerously close to trolling. I'm not even going to explain how wrong you are.
And as everyone else pointed out already, the isometric camera is signature to the Diablo franchise.
An ever better system is one that grows due to your playstyle, if you take a lot of damage then your vit will raise more the next time you level up. If you have a high amount of armor and the armor takes away good amounts of damage it will be invested in dex, if you deal high amounts of melee damage your str will raise more and if you cast spell, well you get my drift.
Because that worked so well in FF2... I don't like that style of character growth at all, because it leads to people standing there getting hit while wearing no armour to pump up HP, then putting on some armour to get dex up, then taking out a dagger or something to boost str (if it works per hit) or finding whatever monster has the highest HP:XP ratio so they can have massive str for their level or some such thing.
And if you're so awesome you don't get hit until act 3, and you take one hit, Bam, dead, because you haven't been committing enough suicide to build up your HP yet.

Funny, RoM never had any of these issues. Probably because it relied on items more than your skills and because HP grew automatically regardless of what you did. Not to mention it took forever. Hey, want to raise sword to 50? I wish you luck, and a lot of patience, and I'll be very surprised if you don't die, because there are very few places you can actually afford to use an inferior weapon, you want your full working team almost at all times... The system was there for automatic development and it worked out pretty well.
Stop bashing the system because the games you play can't implement it properly.
I could see the system working in DIII but you'd need to be really careful about it due to the ability of the player to return to old places, and I just don't see Blizz bothering with it.
