So as we all know, D2 spanned across 5 different locations. (Unless you haven't played the game, in which case, buy it. Now.) Each was unique, and posed different challenges.
But what kinds of locations are we going to get in Diablo 3? Where do you envision kicking satanic ass?
Anywho, what kind of location do you want to see in D3? Do you want something that we've seen before like Kurast or Hell, or something completely new, like heaven, or some type of tropical island? Also, what types of monsters do you want in the location ? Feel free to mention anything else that you feel your ideal location would include.

lets keep jungles in the game....it would also be very cool if we could go inside the tristram monastery and reach the lvl where diablo was first ''killed'' and find the body of prince albrecht there...well not the body anyway but his skeleton and be able to see the history of the land and stuff like that
I want to see a Dark Swamp. Not like Kurast which was a Jungle/Swamp. I mean a really dark swamp where your feet are immerse in the dirty water and sometimes the mud makes you really slow when it's not supposed to (bunch of mobs attacking you).
And I want Hell to be SCARY. SCARY like it was on Diablo 1! The atmosphere was heavy! I was afraid of everything! Of coarse, it was much easier to be scared and extra careful in Diablo 1 because dying was a REAL pain... going back naked to get your stuff, dying a gazillion times and saving the game at the wrong point... all that contributed to make Diablo 1 scary. I'm not saying these have to be back, but something else needs to bring the scary feeling of Hell back.
High Heavens. Yes! There must be at least on location in Heaven! Ahh that would be AMAZING. Maybe Diablo invades Heaven in the last quest of the last act and you fight aside angels and higher demos... epic!
A Dark Castle. Something like the Tristram Cathedral, but going upwards. This place could be also a maze that sends you straight back to the beginning if you take the wrong way... and of coarse, the right path changes every time...
And another crazy location like the Arcane Sanctuary. Those pathways were horrible, but I'm talking about the scenario. I always loved going there because it was so surreal... I liked the music and sound effects too. Maybe they could put us in an Illusion created by some powerful Wizard where nothing made any sense...

I think you are on to something here. What if there were certain settings you could switch on and off, settings that would make the game "scarier" in a sense (have to go back and get your body, much darker environment, etc).
Act 2 is almost certainly going to be a desert scenario, judging by an entry from the bestiary (and because the entry was made and released just as the art team was said to be moving to Act 2).
Act 3 might be something close to D2's Act 3 judging by a concept piece, and when it was released (and looking at a natural progression through the map of Sanctuary) but this is not certain at all.
Act 4 is likely going to revolve around steeps and mountains (judging from the artwork) and will most likely take you to the Arreat crater. And from there, hell.
This is just speculation. I'm only certain that Act 2 will be equivalent in setting to D2's Act 2, though it also remains to be seen in about five months.
I hope they mix Hell up a bit, obviously the end part of Hell has to be the fire and brimestone hell we see in D1 and D2, but before that I would like to see parts of hell which have Ice
Why not Ice in Hell? A perma-frozen lake with people stuck in it
Then theres your ancient/demolished demonic city type of Hell
The super dark, I-cant-see-a-damn-thing type of Hell
Although I suppose that last one would be the Abyss *lightbulb goes on*. Wouldn't it be awesome if we visited the Abyss, just for 1 quest, via a portal
I mean a really dark swamp where your feet are immerse in the dirty water
Now that they're using physics with water then yeah. I would go so far as too say that theres a good 99.99% chance of there being a part of the game where we get submerged to our knees at least... Whats the point of utilizing water in a physics engine if they wouldn't use it
I would like to see Hell look very evil (assuming there will be a portion of the game that takes place in hell). The more Satanic and dark, the better. I'm talkin like disemboweled corpses hanging from upside-down crosses, with fleshy skeleton crows pecking out their eyes. Hordes of zombies are a must, obviously. The zombies could emerge from a pool of stagnant viscera, and attack with blood-thirsty rage. I'm imagining a very fast, nimble zombie, like the ones from 28 Days Later, or the new Dawn of the Dead, but less human looking and more "I've been dead and rotting for a very long time" looking.
When you enter Hell, Dimmu Borgir's (Norwegian black metal band) "Burn in Hell" will start playing.
Aaaanywho I've enjoyed reading people's ideas, and I think Blizzard has a good idea of what we want. They seem to be cognisant of our love for Diablo's uniqueness, but are looking to surprise us as well.
I think the acts will be larger in D3 then in D2. I actually suspect there may even be multiple city type areas in each act. They have shown a lot of locations on the world map, and to visit all of them in 4 acts would require multiple areas per act.

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]"Fool! You have just ensured the doom of this world. You cannot even begin to imagine what you've set in motion this day. Go to the Temple of Light, in the eastern ciry of Kurast. There you will find the gate to Hell opened before you. You must find the courage to step through that gate Marius. Take the stone you hold to the Hellforge, where it will be destroyed. Now run! Take the stone and run!"
I absolutely agree, each act must be as long as diablo 2, this game must be epic in length. I don't think we are going to go back to hell, more likely hell will come to sanctuary. with the worldstone destroyed the armys of hell will invade the mortal plane, this can be seen in the cinematic clearly. My guess is that a part of sanctuary will literally become hell. i really would like to see the high heavens, really curious in how they looks. The other locations will be a classical european forest, an middle eastern kind of desert, both pretty much confirmed. It would be nice to explore some of the coast regions, some kind of jungle maybe back and a mountain level with some volcanic activity, between levels maybe you can walk through a grassland, a really dark marsh like someone suggested could be really scary with monsters coming out of the water. i hope we see some really good ideas
The game doesn't have to be bigger, but based off of everything they show on the map on the website, I think they are going to make an attempt to go to more areas of the world in this game then in previous ones.

I just find D2 wayyyyy to small, when you look at it, it's not all that big. I hope D3 will be longer.
Does anybody know if terrains are actually randomized? Cause I'm still not sure about it. I hope it does randomize.
Yeah, Blizz said it will be more randomized than D2 was, at least in the dungeons. I think they said they are still working on exactly how to randomize the outdoors.

The outside world (towns, areas outside dungeons and caves) will all be static. If you want, I can try to dig up the article, but it was a while ago. However, caves and dungeons will be randomized (I'm guessing exceptions to this would be rooms like some of the static ones in Diablo II- the Durance lvl. 3 and such).
^^ I second that MD was ...erm is awesome. I saw him in the Diablo 3 panel video; it was so cool. Anyways, I hope that they will have a snowy level (my personal favorite of all the "types") we know for sure a desert and grasslands area; also Trist will be in there. Beyond that I would hope they explore some new areas. Can't think of anything creative right now, but just something new.
I think it would be neat if they really demonstrate the change to the world. Like early on you visit this church and it is nice and holy looking and then later you come back and it has been ransacked by demons and the monks and such killed and such. I think the effect of destroyed tristam should be repeated, but should actually happen in game to people you had already met in the game as opposed to a previous game.

Question concerning the terrain though.
Will it be square and big with multiple roads to follow? Like in Diablo 3, you can just wander from the path. Or will the road be more one way? Like certain parts of the barbarian highlands?
I myself like to explore a lot, so I hope it's really big and not one way.
Well, I'd imagine the reason that was because the Fort was built in to a pass with narrow, confined walls- ridges, mountains, cliffs, and such- clearly defined around it. There wouldn't have been much to do about that. The areas are technically the same size, it's just it's given the illusion of linearity by the scenery.
I'd hope open-world maps would be much larger if they're going to be static, but, at the same time, I don't want them to be large if there's nothing far out there worth going to.
