There was a lot useless skills in D2. So I think we will have more usefull skills than d2 had. I think any of the skills in D3 can be viable through the whole game. We will also be using a lot more skills at once, not just 1-3 killing spells, but up to 6 + some utility spells.

I am somewhat confused about this too...the way i see it, is blizzard has not officially said how many skills there are have they? They have said the basics such as there are the usuable skills which you only put one point into, and there are the passive ones that go up to 15. Looking at the screenshots I see three branches for the barbarian and if you add up the usuable skills there are 16. If you add up the passive skills that upgrade those skills and you in general (i believe), there was 36 of them. Maybe im crazy but if there is a scroll bar on the right side and we can only see up to lvl 15, wouldnt that mean that there are even more skills to get. So if what i am saying is right, this is a SWEET system...if not..IDK lol...its diablo im sure itll rock : P.
I am a fan of less skills. When you have a ridiculous number of skills it makes balancing the game even harder and you end up with more useless skills.
Check the video in my Sig to see how a rune can change the way a spell is used. Even Teleport Now go ahead and say there are less spells. In that case I suggest you get yourself a rune
Seriously, I haven't even seen your video yet and I'm thinking anyone with the slightest ability to reason (which seperates us from the apes) would clearly be able to perceive the obvious increase in skill variants. Now before you haters (apes) say "No!, Wait!, Variants are counted as different skills...!
What is Chain lightning but a variant of the Lightning Spell........
What is Ice Blast but a variant of Ice Bolt Spell.....
The list goes on and on!
(So instead of simplisticly improving a near useless spell and calling it a new name, we have to our disposition a set of completely different spells with unending possibilities of customizations)
So now we get a (maybe) slightly smaller ammount of attack spell, but which come with a whole package deal of passive (synergy) like options and a brand new revamped RUNE system. I don't get how people aren't shitting in their socks about this! If Blizz successfully implements this in D3, which I have a strong faith they will, D3 will be a game that will outlast D1 and D2 by far.

Nicely said. If Blizzard does this correctly, they'll make yet another revolutionizing system for HackNSlash and all RPGS.
Seriously, leave all the revolutionizing to Blizzard. The 7 year gap between D2 and D3 just wasn't enough for a brilliant new HackNSlash concept to come up.
I seem to remember a Korean company making a game that did the exact same thing as the new rune system where certain items caused skills to do different unique things.
The Rune system reminds me of a half-assed system similar to what Anarchy Online had for its Implants.
That is literally all the runes will do so far, they'll split attacks, put in additional attacks, and increase effects. It's just a performance booster.
That said the system won't be ironed out any time soon. I'll bet you all that it will be quite different in the end.

lol and the funnest is that most of those wow haters are loving the rune system without knowing that it's original from world of warcraft (yeh, the new WoLK tradeskill).
That proves again that most of the mindless wow haters don't even kno wth they are talking about.
Don't forget that synergies are stand alone skills now (I sure hope I get that wrong and I'm mistaken there).
Well what I meant when I used the term "synergy" was more as a reference and not as a 1 shot deal. Keep in mind that they are actually called Passive skills in D3 just like they were back in D2. And in D2 there was no shortage of them either. (Fire/Light/Cold Mastery) (Barb Masteries), etc.
The only main difference is that now they are more effective due to the fact that they are much more specificly enhancing each selective skill in various ways. Meaning instead of only a damage boost you get more out of them. So they really fill in both passive skill role (from D2) and synergies role (also from D2) at the same time. Which is a huge improvement.

It was something like only 3 less skills, not really a big deal considering there won't be any more skill stacking.
RIP: Demon Hunter: lvl 50 | Barb: lvl 60 (plvl 5) | Monk: lvl12 & lvl70 (plvl 200)

Exacto!
This is honestly the best thing about D3 for me. Every skill is useful in different situations throughout the game! Nothing will be obsolete.
What a waste it was in D2 when certain cool look skills were useless. I mean, what was the point?
But with 7 different skill runes and 5 qualities of each runes that allows for a LOT of skills customization.
