    Quote from "Hero" »
Gold was worthless in Diablo 2 because it was so easily obtainable. That's like saying let's use rocks for currency. The only way for gold to be an accepted form of currency is if it's scarce and people want it. I don't like gold as a currency because bartering is more fun. Anyway... Sojs>Gold anyday.

Yes gold needs to be scarce and we need gold to have more uses. How about repairs, gambling (for potentially good stuff), maybe lodging in the middle of the wilderness, food, water. Yea! There should be food and water items when your off questing in the wilderness or dungeons for a long time!

Whatever is most useful, most rare and most wanted (SOJ, Runes, Skulls) will turn into our main source of trade, something that you can get easily will never be a source of currency of a game.

The only way to turn gold into a effective trade is probably to add a world of warcraft style system to it and break it down into copper, silver and gold and make it so you have to really work your butt off to have high amounts of it.

Problem with that system however is over time gold will become useless, its happening in world of warcraft now with gold become more an more useless to the player base at higher levels cause they realize that all they need it for is the repair there gear and buy a few things.

The rest of it now is just quest, raid and you'll be right.

Personally you can never make a effective economy that won't have its highs or lows, all you can do is try and make a balanced economy and leave it to the players to sort out how they wish to trade there items, be it gold or other items.

Note: Yes you could introduce a bop/boe system but in this style of game it would really peeve a lot of people off

Gold bailouts by blizzard? WE need MOAR regulation!

    Exacto!

This is honestly the best thing about D3 for me. Every skill is useful in different situations throughout the game! Nothing will be obsolete.

What a waste it was in D2 when certain cool look skills were useless. I mean, what was the point? -_-

I think every skill in D3 will be useful throughout the game depending on circumstance, and THANK god for that. Why waste time on animating awesome looking skills if they won't be used later?

Is there any word on content updates? Is it confirmed that bnet for d3 will have no monthly fee? Because I would like some new monthly content and quests. I know younger gamers would be hard-pressed to have that, but man, think about how awesome that would be. To have a constantly updated and well-maintained D3.

    What do you guys think?

    Im dissapointed...
it seems everything they do in 3d from 2d..becomes childish..
same was with homm5! childish monsters..

Oh yea as if you could really see how D2 fallen shamans looked.

The new supposed shaman looks like a sneaky imp to me, doesn't have to be an ultra hellish demon.

This is Diablo .... Not a new version of 7Up..... We want dark and menacing. If we wanted refreshing there's always iced tea for that. :P

JK...... I really don't mind what direction this game goes as long as it gets there soon...

Nope. It still is diablo. You just can't adjust to 3d. Go play D1.

I want the Fallen to be more gritty and dirty looking.

These things don't roll around in the mud. If you look at demons in games and lore, they pretty slick creatures. Especially imps.

Well you can only do so many summons before it's not so unique anymore.

The mongrels seem to be a attack/defense unit.

We don't need tanking so that leaves:

    Ranged and possibly magic.

Besides that maybe some buffing summons.

hmm you're right, the necro, for example, had melee skel, mage skel, mud, iron, fire, and revive, so that's 6 summons.

I like them, I can't wait to see what other summons he has. I think he'll at least have 1-2 more.

I hope he has a full summon tree. I mean, shouldn't he?!

If a normal fight in Diablo 3 (just minions) took near as long as a normal fight in GoW, I would take the game back.

Nothing is worth the amount of annoyance as having to kill something five times before seeing any experience or loot.

Well that's why Diablo 3 isn't a copy of GoW. What we're talking about here is the action style, the impacts, the visceralness, not how the game progresses

Yeah I love the WD. Does anyone else really like the mongrels? They seem really twisted and dark.

Kind of remind me of Silent Hill, with the way they are like naked humans that crawl like animals and have a dog skull. Kind of like those mannequins in Silent Hill 2.

    Examples?

You're right about the rise of epicness, the heros in Diablo 1 were pretty everyman and vulnerable, which gave the game and air of fear and oppression rather than "I am teh awesome and you guys are all corpses waiting to happen", but Diablo 2 had already done away with that: you don't have a "warrior" anymore, you have a "barbarian", you don't have a plain old archer, you have an "amazon" warrior. Epicness invaded the Diablo universe long before GoW.

Seen mabye, but played? I'm sure you'd love it if you did, you seem like the sort of guy who's brain has been turned off since birth :D

God of War had a far deeper story and combat mechanic than either of the Diablo games: you had to, you know, dodge? block? Not just take it in turns to cudgel each other over the head and drink potions when your health is too low. Don't get me wrong, I really love Diablo but its combat has never been what I'd call deep, it is after all and RPG not an action game.

    kudos to you

Actually, Zelda is the best game to represent the Action game genre. Actual progression, you don't start out with all your best moves, tactical, difficult but still completable puzzles, a storyline that for something so simple outdoes most RPG games.

Games like God of War bore me to death. Oh, wow, all those super flashy moves and for some reason that guy still gets back up... You'd think after the first two or three spinning throw stab attacks you would kill a simple minion.

    Hey.

D3 isn't an action game. It's still an action RPG. Its action elements borrow some elements from GoW, and that is great IMO. What better game to borrow action from than from GOW? No we want hellish violence and battles, not lovely and subtle character progression.

D1 and D2 action were the way they were because of technology restrictions of the time. If those games were made today, they would adopt GoW style simply because it's a superior action style for games.

Wow... this was the most retarded dumb game I have ever seen. All you do just run arround and cut off pieces of monsters with cartoon spray and jump around like a monkey on drugs... typical console user dumb entertainment.

Rules of Logic do not apply, only people who turn off their brain can enjoy this.

Whoa everyone watch out for brain child over here.

It's a fun game, and intense at that. If it's too much for you, stick to checkers.
