I've been hearing that Blizz is planning to nerf Revenge... If they do then i really don't know how a barb will ever survive beyond act 2 inferno... I'm currently in act 3 inferno and it's insane.... and i consider myself pretty well geared with 700-800 resist/ 45k HP/ 8-9k armor/ 13k dps unbuffed/ 1.1k life on hit, and i'm still having some problems in act 3 and if they do nerf revenge i don't even want to imagine trying to farm it.

Did you see something in a blue post, or is this just conjecture?

I grew up gaming without internet forums. The entire phenomenon of being upset with a game developer makes no sense to me. No sense. I cannot imagine spending my time and energy being upset about something I choose to do for recreation.
My guess is that they aren't touching Revenge right now because Barbs are already having a difficult enough time. Once things are a little more even, I'd expect either Provocation to get nerfed a little or the base chance for Revenge to proc to go up a little. Which one happens will probably depend a lot on other difficulty and class balance changes.

...and if you disagree with me, you're probably <insert random ad hominem attack here>.

Yeah, that was my reaction. I haven't seen anything from a blue about revenge being too powerful. My guess is someone said "Revenge is so powerful, I bet it gets nerfed!" then someone else parrots "I heard it might get nerfed!" and then it just goes from there. I read the blue tracker rather obsessively and have seen nothing about revenge getting changed =)
All the hotfix nerfs have been done. They don't want to do anymore of those if they can at all help it. 1.03 (I think?) is a patch they'll be putting out to fix a lot of serverside things as well as some balancing of class abilities. If it is coming we'll see it then. That being said the one blue post I saw saying anything about revenge was making a joke and then apologized for its poor taste and timing. Still could have meant what they said but I just can't see them nerfing it. Its damage is pretty nice but the healing is only meh and comes with alot of risk especially in Inferno. Blizzard isn't necessarily STUPID when it comes to balance changes despite what wizards and DH's are saying atm.
Well revenge is indeed broken spell and yes, barbarians wont be viable at all without it but i believe they should nerf revenge while buffing something else , or actually redoing the whole class and the way it works.
It is retarded because every build revolves around being able to survive long enough to revenge spam, thats not the way anyone wants to play their barbarian, unless u buy best items at AH and go 1 shot everything in ur path.
I finished act2 inf as solo barb and i really dont have the strenght anymore to farm items for survivability just so i can revenge spam to glory as it is the only way.
I hope they nerf it and give something more flexible instead.
I can't find the exact quote, but Bashiok's post didn't come across as a joke to me. He said something like: "Everyone direct feedback to X (guy who was qqing) he knows about stuff. In all seriousness though, we're looking into Revenge ...".
I think it has to do with not wanting certain skills to be mandatory and revenge is in pretty much any build I've ever seen.

I agree revenge is pretty much a must have skill for inferno, but in this case i think the answer would be buffing other skills, not nerfing revenge. SS and Force armor, for example, were FAR more powerful than revenge is.
Bashiok was talking about skill selection and the fact that nearly 100% of Barbs use Revenge with the Provocation rune in Inferno. His issue isn't that it needs to be nerfed, it's that 4 other runes are never used, and the skill is manditory - thus creating a dead slot in available builds. They are looking into other ways that will provide a similar result, while allowing some room for customization for the players.
Personally I think revenge should have provocation changed to 30% chance to strike back each enemy that strikes you within the next 5 seconds for double damage or something like that.
That sounds pretty revengy to me. As hard as the mobs hit that would be ALOT of damage.
I'm almost finished with hell act 2 on my barb and I can use pretty much any build I want for packs of trash and most blue elites. When I run into champs I typically have to come up with a specific build to deal with whatever affix combos they have and even though this can be annoying I enjoy the feeling of overcoming these champs by using a successfull build.
Inferno beyond just the huge difficulty increase sounds like it homogenizes the class, or every class for that matter because in order to get the best loot you can't change your build. WTF is that?
Imho they need to buff hp values for barbs starting around act 1 hell and scale it up all throughtout inferno.
I've almost finished nightmare on my demon hunter and it's literally night and day between my barbarian as to how easy it is to not die and/or deal with difficult mobs. I don't even use smoke screen.
I hear alot of barbs between act 1-3 inferno sporting anywhere from 30-100k hp with 500-1k resists, with some life on hit and almost always using a shield(lame) and revenge(even lamer).
Now imagine if your typical barb with decent gear starting act 1 inferno had 75-100k hp off the bat. The mobs still do ALOT of damage so it's not like you can't get gibbed down, but with that extra hp buffer your armor, resists, hp regen actually function better and would allow you to use builds that don't have to use a damn shield, revenge etc.
Maybe that's now what's needed. I dunno. The last thing I want to do when playing my barb is have to make a tank focused build to pass content. That's not build diversity.
I understand inferno should be REALLY hard. But, making people resort to homogenized builds to stack nephalem valor is STUPID. Not giving barbs enough of an hp buffer to be able to utilize more varied builds on the hardest difficulty is pretty weaksauce.
I'm not mad. I'm not even in inferno yet. But, I see all the issues and it's clear there needs to be some changes made.
