lmao, spent so much time in that game... Its more hilarious because most of the complaints about D3 are even more extreme in TQ. Loot is horrendously spaced and drops are almost always shit. Applying your stats is more mindless than D2. Every class has dozens of useless points you'll never place points into and if you do you'll die by the beginning of Immortal Throne. Really the coolest part of the skill system was choosing your "class". Unbelievable that somehow you wish to play this over D3.

On a side note some follow up would be cool. I assumed (and as always with assumptions I was wrong) that most of the people who were going to or have quit D3 don't like the genre. The complaints I've heard have just been about drop rates and changed OP stats. Have you played any of the other ARPG's a lot or is your experience with them more similar to your experience with TQ?

ARGH! D2 left off on hell mode. It was doable however you wanted to do it. They've added a new difficulty to the game. Its REALLY hard. Its actually well balanced on the technical side and I really enjoy it on the emotional side. While the jump from A1 to A2 was the biggest detractor they've since fixed it and the game has become even better. This isn't like Diablo 2's end game! They clearly stated it was going to be extremely hard, that people may feel pigeon holed, BASICALLY all the complaints of the gameplay variety I've heard for the past month were addressed previously by Blizzard.

It just drives me crazy that people demand WoW go back to being "hard" and that video games are too easy these days and so they release this gem and all anyone can do is complain its too hard this way and that. Inferno is tough as shit. You'll have a hard time. You'll die a lot. You'll even be pigeon holed a bit in your build comps. Lets move on.

Do you have a solid bit of crit? If so that crit damage increase will help you quite a bit. Add that in with the dex and it makes a bit of sense. As long as its just a slight bit more on the old one. Main stats really do add quite a bit of dps/defense. I lost a bit of strength the other day and went down 500dps on my character sheet. Was a bit surprised myself.

posted a message on only 24% vote that they like 1.03 in official diablofans poll
It amazes me that people think a survey on a diablofans website wouldn't be biased. This is no complaint but when you want to create an un-biased survey about Macaroni and Cheese you don't go to a Ciliacs convention. Same thing here. You'd have to send out survey's to 1000+ absolutely random players of the game. Taking them from a gaming website where the "hardcore awesome D2 carry over" folks are is just kind of silly.

That being said I'm actually surprised the results weren't more towards the no side. Realistically its still fairly even when you remove the cope out answer of "Hit or miss". This site has been intolerably negative on the game without having much reason to be of late. Ah well!

    Quote from DUNCAN99

Actually the D2 developers are no longer with Blizzard. And Blizzard made so many bad decisions regarding WoW that they've ruined the game. Same could be said for D3. Lots of bad decisions. Many players expected the game to be like D2LoD but improved on every aspect. It turned out to be more like WoW.

Since I was out of diapers when this all happened I can actually make a point here Mr. Duncan. Not all the Blizzard North developers are gone. Some of the big names are gone (Schaefer brothers and Roper are the biggest) but Uelmen, Cheng, and others stayed after this. Of those really only Uelmen has left to join up with Runic. The problem you're having is that you're generalizing a very complex situation. Since Blizzard North's cut Blizzard has made BC, SC2, WotLK, Cataclysm, and continued making content for those games. Since those developers departure they've created, Mythos (beta), Hellgate London, Torchlight, and Champions online. SO OUT OF THESE BIG NAMES... who has done better? The Shaefer Brothers have done decently for themselves with a quick release of Torchlight. Showing what talented people can do in a short time. But honestly it was more well received due to its price tag if you ask me. Torchlight 2 may improve on this and I, as well as Blizzard (publicly btw) hope they do very well.

See? Even Blizzard doesn't create the distinctions that you have. They continue to support their ex-employees as much as possible. Morhaime has stated many times he'll be playing Torchlight 2. And don't quote me on this but I seem to remember a whole lot of the textures in Mythos being from WoW. The Bro's over at Runic have nothing but good things to say about Blizzard. Roper had some finicky things to say about Blizzard after he left but they did basically kick him out because they didn't like his creation. Since Blizzard North though... has anything he's done been good? I honestly believe (and this is only my belief not to be confused with fact) that Roper is a bit overrated in this genre of entertainment. Also, you're bound to make a few enemies in any business :-/

D3 is constantly compared to 10 year old D2. Unfortunately the comparison isn't even apt if it was D2 day 1 to D3 Day 1 comparison because they are different games. If you want more of the same D2-wise you should probably play that. TL2 isn't going to be D2, PoE isn't, Titan Quest isn't, and Grim Dawn may never see the light of day (SEE WHAT I DID THERE!?). They are all going to be their own creations. D3 is a very good game thats going to continue getting better over time. People quitting now will almost certainly come back at some point and be just peachy. Those that don't probably loved playing Hammerdins, using maphack, duping, and botting. Glad they're leaving.

posted a message on Hit detection broken, dodging impossible
Just the sheer amount of stupidity is amazing. I'm in act 3 inferno with 90% gear I've found and farmed for and I never get 1 shot. I haven't been extremely lucky and haven't played for a billion hours. They are clearly stating they're going to be nerfing acts 2-4 and increasing drop rates as well. Even after all of this... People still believe that they just want to make money from RMAH, have no interest in player's concerns, and that the game is horrible because (now this is a new one) you can't cheese your way around in full dps gear, ignore defense and just leap out of the way of every attack. I'm not even trying to flame the people that believe in this sort of thing to be truthful. Just try to accept the fact that you're getting a bit out of hand when you find this to be a major game flaw.

posted a message on Power for money ? Is that ok with the D3 Community?
    Quote from Scrim

The amount of Blizzard apologists in this thread is frightening. Diablo 3 has been a broken, bugged out disaster so far. With loads of problems, exploits and issues. It's a fucking fun game, but lets not cover our eyes and ears here please.

I think buy to win is stupid. I think it's a dumb model. People here say lots of games do it. Show me 5 successful, popular, well reviewed games that have a buy to win model. Nobody cares if some F2P failed Korean game virtually nobody plays uses the model.

Here is my concern with the RMAH. Nobody is going to be putting good items up on the normal auction house anymore. Why make 10 million gold, when you can make $250. Then in turn, spend some of the real money you made on an item you want, and or never put it back into the economy.

Another problem, is items that are going to be selling for gold. Will be selling for 10 times their normal value. Why? because gold is so cheap to buy, you will have tons of people with astronomical amounts of gold. So the items that you can buy for in-game currency, will have a super inflated price.

Now. That being said. I don't think Diablo is a "buy to win" game. However what the RMAH can do, is ruin the experience for others. Diablo 3 is about trading items, for other items or currency. That is THE ENTIRE POINT of the game. Nobody gets perfect roll gear by it dropping for them. The odds of it happening make it virtually impossible. You will have to use the auction house or trading in some way, to progress in the game. As I stated above, my concern is the best items will no longer be up for trade. They will simply be up for real money. It severely limits those who don't want to spend tons of money to easily progress.

What has me most concerned isn't this. My biggest problem is the entire ecosystem Blizzard is building. We all know Titan is their next MMO. It's been in development more then half a decade. Do you really think they designed and implemented all these systems for one game, in Diablo 3? No. It has me worried their next MMO, where buying power is a MAJOR problem, will also be buy to win. Which would be a fucking joke.

Whats truly frightening is the contents of your post. Your shit reads like a Fox News article man! Most of your opinions have nothing to even back them up. Outside of the fact that theres been some bugs and a lack of foresight in how item value would be counted by players you have nothing of worth in your entirely too long post.

Just to shorten up the drivel I'll go with your first paragraph of content. "I think buy to win is stupid. I think it's a dumb model. People here say lots of games do it. Show me 5 successful, popular, well reviewed games that have a buy to win model. Nobody cares if some F2P failed Korean game virtually nobody plays uses the model." Starting off your excursion into thought with "I think... stupid." is about as fail as you can be. Your opinion means nothing without some form of consensus or at the very least facts. Theres nothing but feeling there. You repeated that in your second sentence. Show you 5 successful, popular, well reviewed games... Depends on what we're talking about. Purely items being purchased? Show me 5 dungeon crawlers currently being played where items are the main focus. For that matter show me 5 that were successful. Or show me 5 online games. I'll show you 5 where third party companies make tons of money off of something like the RMAH not being available. Finally, some people do care for those Korean F2P games. YOU don't. Don't confuse the two. On top of this there have been a few examples of how this is a practice in some games. EVE being one of them thats actually been pretty successful.

You lack the ability to control your feelings at all. Your passionate and that can be a great thing but without a bit of self control you just vent off like a volcano. Why not try being constructive? Why not try seeing both sides of an argument before going off the deep end? Why not see where the RMAH takes us before you go into pure speculation like the rest of your post was?

I don't get upset with people who pay for their prons. I even find them humorous. I don't need it super high quality. I find ways around this and every once and a while I find a great gem in them free sites.

posted a message on repair gold increase?

    Quote from Adkhean

by 4 times? seriously? I have trouble accumulating more than 20 30k money, and repairing is gonna cost like 16k MINIMUM now 24k if they up that by 6 times, (and my gear is not very good yet), how the heck will I be able to afford anything other than repairs now?

I agree, current repair costs feels fine to me.
Only thing that comes to mind is RMAH, we can buy gold there, I guess they really want us to do that.

Its quotes like these that just make me go WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!??? I just don't get it... You honestly believe that a whole quote talking about how death has little meaning atm in D3 and how that plays into poor gameplay and the three solutions they had in mind one of which may net them a few bucks on the RMAH and its instantaneous conspiracy.

Give it up people. There is no giant conspiracy. If you don't want to use the RMAH then don't. If you do then do it. Its clearly not integral to how the game functions. You just as easily can make gold selling items on the gold auction house. Is this just another tactic to control your brain??

I'll just be happy when EVERYone realizes the RMAH is a 3rd party selling site that removes all the bad aspects of buying third party and lets you make money in the mean time off of Blizzard's work.

posted a message on seriously the guy that invented cooldown on deaths
Yea... Inferno is easy. So easy... EQ /facepalm

I don't understand. Most deaths in D2 took more than 30 seconds to run back to EVERYtime. And on top of this you couldn't just run back in when the pack is near your body as you run NAKED back to your corpse. Come now... Corpse running is 100% worse.

Or is this more of the bot running folks with scripts to TP up a portal and leave the game type stuff that you somehow include into the basic design of the game?

My friend and I don't have much trouble with that combo. I play a barb and she plays a Wizard. That could be most of our success on it though. I know she likes Mirror Images for jailers though. That gets you out instantly and doesn't have much of a CD. Maybe diamond skin and MI? The only thing that gives us trouble really is arcane enchanted mobs in tight corridors.

posted a message on Revenge nerf coming?
All the hotfix nerfs have been done. They don't want to do anymore of those if they can at all help it. 1.03 (I think?) is a patch they'll be putting out to fix a lot of serverside things as well as some balancing of class abilities. If it is coming we'll see it then. That being said the one blue post I saw saying anything about revenge was making a joke and then apologized for its poor taste and timing. Still could have meant what they said but I just can't see them nerfing it. Its damage is pretty nice but the healing is only meh and comes with alot of risk especially in Inferno. Blizzard isn't necessarily STUPID when it comes to balance changes despite what wizards and DH's are saying atm.

Definitely agreeing with this post. Absolutely an amazing game. I've been fortunate enough to have made it to inferno on one char and another char to 31 with only one disconnect. I'm honestly puzzled as to why everyone believes the servers are SO bad. I'm surprised they've been this good! Such a good game though.

posted a message on The worst possible affix set for a range class
While I'm not quite in Inferno yet with my Barb I'd have to say when I met 4 spiders, fire chains, plagued, desecrator I basically broke down crying. Went through a whole set of gear before they died.

On a side note what resist does Desecrator fall under? I've got pretty stacked fire resist for hell (I'm assuming 130 in hell is at least decent) but it still tears me apart. Is it just them dropping 2+ of the circles on me?

*edit* Edited out the % in my fire resist.

posted a message on The endgame in Diablo 3 is pathetic, and disapointing
Diablo 2 was not about skills. What in the history of this series (which you've now lied about playing twice now) would give you that idea? In D1 the characters all had access to the same spells. In D2 each class had three trees of abilities half of which were completely useless until they added synergies. Even then they were useless but you had a point dump.

Diablo IS an action game because its played in real time. You're confusing what the game is ABOUT and what genre it falls into. Its not an action game you go shooting guns in or an mmo you HAVE to play socially with. Its about the items and those amazing things that drop from demons and beasts. No one plays it because fireball looked awesome or hammerdins were the funnest thing to play since Mario.

I'll say it again... The game needs tweaks. Otherwise it is an amazing successor to an amazing game.

And before you say it NO! I had little faith that Blizzard could actually do D3 well. I played it and I was corrected.
