I was there when they were wondering, what can we add as endgame content?
And they thought hey! Lets add a 4th difficulty where you can farm anywhere!
A weird concept, but hey, even back then I bought it. Turned out to be the worst thing ever. Please, I'm not going to get into a big discussion as to why inferno is just a stupid giant gear check that has no interest.
Inferno, like Nightmare and Hell, is nothing but an extremely lazy copy-paste with bigger numbers. The difficulty itself literally took 5 minutes to do. The difficulties have NO differences, no new monsters, no new attacks, no nothing. They claimed better intelligence, maybe in Normal they're a bit dumber at best, thats it.
Its an incredibly lazy and inneffective endgame content. I hate it. I think its horrible. Is that all we can come up with as endgame? I'm there, wondering how much god damn time of my life I'm going to spend gearing up for the SAME EXACT THING that I did with the same character 3 times in a row, just to experience nothing new whatsoever and not be challenged in any true way.
Even Diablo 2 has more interesting end game. Uber Tristram (which did come late) is actually interesting, albeit very small and a bit lazy, end game. Thats the kind of content thats fun. REWARDING places to go, new weird things to find and do, new places, new monsters, new bosses or redesigned boss encounters with new attacks, name it.
But no. There is NOTHING. AT ALL.
Why is that acceptable? After all this time, the only end game they could think of is a 5 minute copy paste (which is all it is).
Add to that how bad the itemization is, how nobody is actually looking forward to any item because none is changing their experience in any way...
What a boring end game. I think those words just prove that its boring and uninspired, INCREDIBLY uninspired, as are every difficulty levels in this game. Dear god, I actually believed they would add at least 1 attack to 1 monster. They didn't.
Unbelievable how disappointed I am. But I guess all people ever really wanted is a grinding game, uh? What a waste of potential.
I dont even know where to start with this post. I just got to hell im lvl 55 and the game is alot different.... getting killed ever 2 minutes is quite fun. Ever ran into a rare group with votex invulnerable minions and mortars? I pray for new items. I dont have the gold to buy them from the ah. Im challenged. I dont know if youve even been to inferno yet...

So they're lazy and then they're lazy again? I don't understand.
Give it time, I'm sure they will revamp a lot of things.
Give it time? Let them Revamp? Last time I checked, games come out complete and are amazing when they first come out, not a year later. Blizzard has dropped the ball, any other company would be fine. The fans have waited years for this and are already finished in days.
How the hell is Diablo 2 so much more interesting with end game? Aside from Dclone and Uber Tristram, there isn't a difference. Oh wait, they gave monsters immunities and penalized your resistances. Everyone still had to stack Vitality and resists to survive the hits and dump points into their main nuke in order to avoid being one-shotted.
I really have to laugh in yours and everyone else's faces that come in here to try and make a point to complain about how Diablo 3's end-game sucks and do so by trying to compare it to Diablo 2 which was FAR less tactical. No game will ever be perfect, yes there are some itemization and balance issues at the moment, BUT COME THE FUCK ON ALREADY. How fucking "interesting" is a Whack-A-Mole style control and combat system going to get? If you want complexity and depth, you're going to have to find a different game. Diablo simply never has and never will be in-depth and complex to any major degree. It just isn't.
This is the problem with Google guys! It gives anyone the power to search quickly and efficiently for places like diablofans. When that happens the boards get some folks who have never actually played a game of Diablo in their life.
While normally this wouldn't be an issue (because I would love to give everyone a pat on the back and welcome to the brotherhood that is Diablo) in this case... its just disappointing.
Guys, the game isn't about "beating" the act bosses or getting level 60. It never was about that even in Diablo 1. Its about finding the loot. Pure and simple. Theres side things that came along as well like dueling, or pk'ing, or even them goofy low level duelers back in D2. Those are fun things to distract yourself with while you get loot.
This is extremely challenging and fun take on the Diablo franchise a huge number of people are loving right now. If you aren't I am TRULY sorry that google, blizzard, and you yourself got excited about the game believing it was another MMO or action game shooting guns and what not but... alas... it is not.

uber tristram came out a few years AFTER the expansion. and it came after "uber diablo" which was created partially because of the soj duping.
i do agree that endgame is a little rough, but its more about the love of the game and maxing gear out. the slight draw back is the leveling where its quite easy to hit 60 but in d2 hitting 99 took a lot more effort. so you can think " wow, i hit 60, now what do i do? just max gear out?". where as in d2 you could finish hell and farm gear all the way to 99, somtimes even being FULLY geared before max level. they even had the xp decay when you died. d3 only has the gold sink when you die.
another thing, theres A LOT of random dungeons and encounters to find. rare unique (not elite/champion) mobs are plenty.
I already talked about this in my big wall of text rant on how I would make the game. All they had to do was make Act 4 open ended, but they have completely SCREWED themselves with the new quest-based progression system. Good luck adding anything interesting content-wise, because the quest progression system has tied the dev team's hands behind their back.
Did you guys think Whimseyshire was interesting and fun? Yes? No? Well to all of the people that thought Whimseyshire was lamesauce, congratulations! That's the ONLY type of additional content you'll be getting until a new expansion! Well... that and the delayed PvP content.

Some people tell me I'm going to hell. I just let them know that I've already packed my bags!
I'm about ready to quit the game because Inferno is dumbed down to just kiting every single mob. That's not why I play the Witch Doctor. If I wanted to kite I would have picked the DH or Wizard. I'm in Act 2 Inferno and all elites 1 shot me. I've heard from people with Act 3/4 gear that it doesn't change and I'll never avoid being 1 shot... the only option is to kite. That's not the class I signed up for... Blizzard let down the WD class big time with D3.
//edit: Don't even get me started on WD pets, they're completely worthless in Act 2.
If "the endgame in Diablo 3 is pathetic", then Diablo 1 & 2 endgames are uber super pathetic?
It wasn't very good, no. Well, can't speak for D1. For Diablo 2, it wasn't very good, but because of the itemization I had things to look forward to, and I only started playing late: Uber Tristram was actually an incentive enough to try and go forward, believe it or not. Funny thing is, I never really got there. (besides in SP with cheats to check it out)

You know I was just pointing out that at least, Diablo 2 had Uber Tristram. I didn't say its end game was good, just slightly better.
And I've played Diablo thanks. Diablo 2 was more about skills and interesting items than this game is. If Diablo 3 had interesting itemization, real epic legendaries I want so badly, I might forgive all of this. But it doesn't.
By the way, Diablo is an action game. Action games are about skill. Yes, we love items, so do I, you didn't like Diablo 2 if you didn't care about getting powerful through gear. But don't tell me Inferno is a fine difficulty.
I could have come up with hundreds of ways to make higher difficultes genuinly challenging with new obstacles and things that are actually interesting to deal with. But hey, Diablo 2 was so simple 12 years ago, who needs any challenge and complexity when everything good about Diablo 2 is also gone from this game?... (except the plain old destructions of thousands of monsters)
Are people here against advancements in any shape or form that would make the game better just because mindless gear grinding was fun 12 years ago?
I find it hard to answer a lot of people here directly without risking a perma ban.
. But hey, Diablo 2 was so simple 12 years ago, who needs any challenge and complexity when everything good about Diablo 2 is also gone from this game?
What good things in diablo2 is not in diablo3? The only good thing about diablo2 was monster slaying, which is still in diablo3.
imo, everything else is improvements.

I can see what you see not. Vision milky, then eyes rot.
When you turn, they will be gone. Whispering their hidden song.
Then you see what cannot be. Shadows move where light should be.
Out of darkness, out of mind. Cast down into the Halls of the Blind
This is Diablo. No you're not going to have reams of endgame content like an MMO or something.
Would it be too much to ask for a little something besides bigger numbers? Maybe not. But exclusive content? Yeah, that is a bit much.
Exactly. Anyone expecting them to add 'more content' before an expansion, didn't do their research very well. This is Diablo 3, not an MMO. It's a B2P title, that plays online, and offers small group co-op if you want it, but it's not required.

Who said adding content through patches?
I'm talking about content that should have been included. Logical steps in difficulties and differences that they would have done if they weren't lazy and greedy.

If you're a mindless fan throwing stupidities like this around, don't bother with me. Forums and any place in the world are made for a variety of opinions. Now get back to your cave where everything is lollipops and people loving each other. This a discussion forum, not a "praise the almighty Blizzard" forum.
