Starting a new thread just because I saw what's may be the most perfect triumvirate ever.

    Obviously, it's Jaetch's Triumvirate:

For those who wants to compare what are the maximum stats of a Triumvirate, here's the Battle.net data:

For you, Jaetch, sir, my congratulations and respect! :D

@HG_Johnny, your D3UP build is different from the battle.net one, so I'm goind to comment on both:

    Battle.Net:
This seems to be the standard TR build. I'm just curious: Why using SSS and WoL at the same time ?

    D3UP:
your build is different from the usual cookie-cutter builds I've seem around. I think it's good, but you lack resistances and armor make you dependent on OWE and STI. Without them, you're pretty glass-canon.

More resistence on the belt, bracers and plate would make you able to drop OWE without losing much EHP, and would free a passive slot to NDE or Fleet Footed (which I like a lot).

But it would be really expensive. Nat's ring with critical chance, 9% as and all res would be good, if paired with a top-notch Nat's boot for you. I think you're moving towards end-game gear. :) But I do not know monks very much by now.

    My turn (again):

Linking directly to TianZi post on Battle.Net, just because.

Linking the second TianZi video, with a worse Skorn:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHodLvKFulQ

I found both videos very interesting, that's sheer evidence that's something wrong.

TianZi, nice post and videos, this is the kind of feedback that cannot be ignored.

Nacho_ijp, I like your wizard. I think you are a bit over here and there, and there's room for improvements, but I don't think you will get much more damage with that budget.

I would start looking for a Triumvirate, as you don't seem to be running a CMWW build, and you are using a black wand. The 15% to 18% damage boost from a triumvirate could be useful.

But I suggest you simulate the changes on an online calculator like d3up.com. By the way, let me do this one for you, and you can go on after:

Changing the Chantodo's Force for a Triumvirate with similar stats ,but droping the attack speed:

If you can get a better one within your budget, go for it. It's a 5% increase on DPS on a (relatively) low cost.

Hope this helps you get started.

^^ My turn: Your monk is what I want to achieve with mine. Even your hellfire ring is a good one.

I particularly like the way you arranged the gems on the chest, so they look good. :)

But, just a quick question: Don't you have issues with spirit regen, without spirit/second helm and without a SoJ ? Or you're not using the standard tempest rush build ?

Go for a Barb. Although the CM+WW Wizard is a good choice, over the time it will hurt your arm and hands, and I mean it. It's just to much button smashing.

couple questions on this simulator... is there a way to get explosive blast without chain reaction? (lol should I be using chain reaction? I'm using time bomb)
I like chain reaction, because on my view it can proc more than other runes. But Loroese is the head theorycrafter about CM wizards, he can answer that better than me.

You can uncheck the option Chain Reaction on the simulator by clicking on it, but there's no alternative rune for explosive blast on the simulator.

Main question, how does this compare to DPS from other characters? I have sheet dps of 160 (unbuffed) and this simulation lists me closer to 700k but how would that compare to a hota smash barb? A certainly dont seem to be outperforming my 300k dps buddy :)
Probably your 300k dps buddy has more effective DPS than you... The best test I've seem on the forums so far is to do timed kill on Azmodam or Ghom.

Do one run with your CM wizard and another run with you buddy on the same MP level, and compare the time. Than you can see who is performing best solo over time.

But remember one thing: CM wizards do stand-out on a crowd. If you have 20+ enemies, I think nothing can beat a CM wizard.

Where can I spend my "Style" so I can do MP 10 like its MP 0?

You can... uh... look good while the barbs do the job ? :D

(disclaimer: This post and my previous one were mere joking)

    <serious_mode>
Well, all the classes have pros and cons, and while I agree the DH's can use some love from Blizzard, we have on our side the fact that any of the other classes have skills like Shadow Power with 15% life recover for that matter.

I play with a DH, a Wizard and a Monk, and all of three have completely different playstyles, and while one is strong on one spec, the other is stronger in another.

Monks with TR are almost as brainless as Barbs with WW. But they are utterly boring (for me). DH's are hard to master, they are fun and there's some build diversity. Not item diversity, but this is another matter.

Although we do not hit very hard, we can set traps and span sentinels, making our effective DPS double or triple steadily over time.

So, while we cannot burst a huge amount of damage, we can do a pretty decent amount of damage over time.

I could use someone good at math to help me with this argument, though.

^^ My first thought is that he used your file to create his simulator, but I saw the code (the source is on the website) and it was coded in Lisp, while yours was in MatLab. I don't think he ported your code.

    I used/tested with chrome, successfully.

So, off-topic, I could port your simulator to JavaScript or C#, but you would have to explain the formulas to me, as my MatLab-fu is close to null.

    Hi fellow CM wizards,

I'd like to share this calculator with you guys, found it last week, and I'm pretty happy with the results so far:

    http://d3cmww.com/cmww

Disclaimer: I did not make the calculator nor I know who did. I just found the link and I'm passing it by. :)

I'm only posting because I saw no mention of it or a similar tool here on our forums or on battle.net forums.

Loroese's CMWW calculator only works on MatLab, and since I don't own a copy of MatLab I had to search for something online.

Hope this helps someone as helped me.

^ Well, kinda that's what I meant to discuss when I said:

    Quote from "Machado" »

Also, by adding +160 on the MINIMUM and MAXIMUM damage on your weapon has a linear multiplicative factor on your actual DPS, instead of a chance to proc over time, as critical chance do.

We can elaborate after this sentence, by saying that sheet DPS is just a formula, and actual DPS output is heaviliy affected by MIN-MAX damage status, as we can see that when we change an off-hand item like a shield for a source.

But hey, I'm sure you thought about that. :)

Pluging something into a DPS calculator saves a ton of time for me, as most of the time my sheet DPS matches my actual DPS, unless I'm running some special area-of-effect build as CMWW or CMWW-SNS variation.

In those cases, you have to use a more elaborate calculator do properly measure the effectiveness of every single change, such as adding Arcane Power on Critical (APoC) from 18 to 20. A very minor change, with effectively a huge gain in DPS. For this, I personally use http://d3cmww.com/cmww, as it's a very nice and resourceful DPS calculator for CM wizards, IMO.

But I'm hopeful to hear your opinion about the change. :) Would you use a Ruby or a Emerald on your weapon slot ?

    EDIT:
My answer, I'd use a Ruby, if it's a marquise one. 160+160 is a huge gain on a weapon, more than 20% gain on minimun and maximum damage, even on a top-of-line weapon as the EF Jaetch is using.

What attacks do DHs get that they can spam for million damage plus crits like HoTA and Wave of Light?

Well, we have the style! Barbs are too ugly and too dumb. We have, what should we call, finesse.
