Could you explain me the overall discussed ruby vs smaragd ? thx in advance
Actually it's pretty simple: Enter his profile on D3UP, change the marquise Ruby for a marquise Emerald, and see his DPS decrease by 500 or so.
Also, by adding +160 on the MINIMUM and MAXIMUM damage on your weapon has a linear multiplicative factor on your actual DPS, instead of a chance to proc over time, as critical chance do.
But this is off-topic.
On topic: Nice to see your playstyle, man. I envy you.
I do rely on attack speed to proc more stun on my build.
Get as much as you can get, without sacrificing other stats (Dex + Avg Damage + Crit Chance + Crit Damage). This will help your survivability a lot, allowing you to attack and flee faster, if you have to. And on upper MP's, you have to do this sometimes.
Another advice someone told me a couple of months ago: One-shot white mobs has advantages while farming, and this you won't get focusing only on attack speed. This you'll achieve through brute force (Dex + Avg Damage + CC + CD).
So, on the topic: Is attack speed essential ? No. Unless you are running a proc-dependent build, as the stun-grenades one. In this case, attack speed plus fast weapon (did someone say calamity there ?) is the key for the build.
If you use the Scoundrel (as you should) he will give you 8-13k dps via the 3% crit buff. That might explain the difference between paper dps and the dps you see on d3up. Just apply the buff when you are on d3up, and you'll see the same numbers as on your char. sheet.
Just added those buffs on D3UP. It wasn't a shrine, or I would get 25K more DPS. And by adding the followers buffs I got slightly different values than 201K, but I guess they are the real difference.
I'd just like to say that in a game on mp10 unlike other classes my dh doesn't die 90% of the time their other classes with 200 more AR than i do. With DH being effective or not is all about positioning and movement.
And i seem to switch around 5 or so builds all serving a role, all fun to play
I actually don't like to move a lot with my DH, mainly because I still feel that the Manticore is slow, even with 50% more attack speed. I like to tank.
So, on MP7~10 I (usually) stay where I am, pop all my damage reduction stuff ([Shadow Power: Gloom] + [Sentry: Guardian Turret]) granting me 50% more damage reduction and start spamming Bola Shot with Stun.
Obviously I do have to move sometimes, if an elite has some nasty affixes, like arcane (all arcanes end up below me, so I have to run).
Molten / Dessecrators are bad, but if I'm hitting and damaging the monsters than I'm getting my life back.
The real problems are arcane (and their freaking lasers) and poison. They seem to stack somehow and I can't stand on the poison spots more than 2 or 3 seconds.
Anyway, on the topic: I do have more fun with the DH than the CMWW or Archon Wiz. The resource management, the tanking and moving habilities and the looks (she is beautiful to see) are great.
If i'm tired, and just want to faceroll all the monsters, I low the MP to 0 or 1, and it's a no-brainer. Even when I only had 100K DPS.
^^
Nice DH! Inspired by you, I got a Witching Hour for my DH, and I'm thinking again in completing the Nat's set. I do have the ring and the helm, but the helm only have 3% CC and the ring doesn't have any at all. My DPS would be hurt badly with my current Nat's set.
Then, get 2 rings with 45-50 avarage dmg and high dex.
Get a neck with 45-50 avarage dmg, high dex, crit chance anc crit dmg.
Not sure if this would be a good cost-benefit upgrade. My rings are somewhat expensive, and to get 2 quadrifectas as you'll stating would surely increase my DPS (at a high cost), but would also reduce a lot my EHP (the hellfirering gives me a good amount of EHP).
The same goes to the neck. But I would not loose much EHP with a new quadfecta neck.
Not taking attack speed, crit chance and DEX amount considerations, only changing the manticore to a 2-socket one would skyrocket my DPS. (33 kDPS more unbuffed DPS).
Thanks for the suggestions mate, made me think a lot about it!
EDIT: Updated the table with the new acquisition: A Witching Hour!
I'd love to use one. My WF is a cheap one, 1100 DPS + socket, and I lose about 35 ~ 40kdps with her. But she is so beautiful... So fast... That should be the native DH weapon.
After annoying some people on other topics and hijacking this topic, I changed some specs on my CMWW build with success.
But on trying to adjust to the new specification, I changed Explosive Blast to Meteor with Meteor Shower rune.
I do have a feeling that things are dying easier (I'm playing on MP6), since this skill gives 107% per Meteor, granting over 700% damage while casting.
With 19 APoC I sometimes run out of AP, but not very often.
Question is: Is this only my perception or Meteor/Meteor Shower really gives more damage than Explosion Blast on a CMWW spec ?
Spec first, drop shatter for deep freeze. You can use Cold Snap if you want better freeze lock on mobs or for ubers. Drop temporal flux for Evocation or UA. Drop Energy Armor for Storm Armor - Shocking Aspect. If needed, switch diamond shards to crystal shell and lower MP until you can survive with SA. SA greatly improves farming efficiency.
Changed Shatter to Deep-Freeze. The Frost Nova uptime was almost 100%. I guess Evocation + 15%CC helped this a lot. Changed to Shatter again to confirm, and Cold Snap is really better on face of various mobs. I can teleport to the middle of a pack and insta-freeze all of them and keep everything in lock until they all die.
Storm Armor - Shocking Aspect: Nice gain in speed killing the bosses. And I like the "I am Zeus" feeling, with Lightnings falling from the sky and all. I used Storm Armor only when in archon mode, but now it's a great addition to CMWW spec.
Diamond Skin: I had to change to Crystal Shell in order to keep Storm Armor to grant survivability. I guess my AllRes + Armor + HP is not enough at this point.
Gear wise, you can keep at the 2.5 APS breakpoint if you want but since you already have Chanto 2pc and prowler bracers, I'd move to 2.73. The alternative would be to drop the chanto set and switch to black dagger+triumvirate and upgrade your zuni ring to an IAS version (or swap your chest for a tal's chest, but you'd lose a lot of resist that way). If you go that way you want a 10-11% IAS dagger, either with socket or crit damage and as much or more dps than your current chanto. This route will probably give you the best dps increase, but then you're pretty much stuck at 2.5 breakpoint. It also leaves your crit a little low but you're just under 45% with scoundrel so it's not terrible. Still, 50%+ buffed is more ideal (and don't try swapping to pinpoint barrier to make up the crit, SA >> 5% crit from pinpoint).
For now I'll keep the 2.5APS, but will try to increase the CC%. Try to do both at the same time will be very expensive to me at the moment, and I do not have much gold for now.
If you want to see the 2.73 breakpoint, you'll have to drop the zuni ring and chest...
The changes above convinced me to stay on the 2.5 APS for now, and increase CC. My survivability on MP8 was almost null on 2.73 APS with my Tal Rasha (a crappy one) and other ring (I do have a 9%AS + 4%CC ring, but without any other damage increase). And the battles were taking too long to finish.
With 2.5 and Zunimassa set I had no issues at all.
You can also look into glove upgrades, same IAS and int but with higher crit and maybe resist and/or armor, but I'd save that til later.
That's actually one of the things I'm doing right now: Research on AH for +CC% and +CD%. It's not as expensive as it looks anymore due to crafting, but is not very cheap either.
TL;DR: I maintained 2.51 APS with great survivability by changing only the skills on MP8, and I'm trying to increase CC%.
The best speed/return for me at the moment is at MP6.
But I can run MP10 without diying too much. On MP10 the problem are the fallen lunatics. God, I hate thos guys.
^ Will try those tonight! Thanks Loroese! First I'll do the changes on actives/passives, and after that will do some research on the AH.
I do have nat's ring and boots (for my DH), I'll try do put them and see what happens. And I have one Tal Rasha plate, but a crappy one. I'll let you guys know what happened later/tomorrow.

Hehehehe... It doubles with Shadow Power and Sentry!

Nice Calamity! Attack speed rocks with this baby. I do have one, but not as good as yours. Great for a grenade build.

UPDATE: Second target shot down! Sheet DPS now at 201k!
This is without steady aim!
Thanks guys! Your help was extremely valuable!
PS: There's just one little thing annoying me: The unbuffed DPS on D3UP is 192K.... I'll have to figure out what is this difference. Any suggestions ?

Indeed, I could use some CritDamage. I'm on 345% now, and this can improve. It'll cost a lot, though.

Not an option for me. It's against the ToS, and I don't want to risk my played hours for this.
