Hopefully D3v, similar to how they are finally making a vanilla version of WoW. Would be interesting to see how many players truly liked the original version of D3 more than the current version. At least it would give them some more solid info on player preferences before they make D4.

I ran a somewhat similar build earlier in the season, but without BP or partheons. I preferred using unity + strongarms. Had some differences in skills as well. Overall didn't feel competitive to U6 though, so eventually just re-gered that monk into a simple gen build with sages to farm my DBs while doing Grift with the regular U6 setup.

That answer on multiplayer vs single player is really kind of sad. Their perspective is placed entirely around friends, when in reality many people that enjoy single player need to join public games or screw with their real life schedule in order to play in groups.
It's not just more efficient, it's that 4 players that are terrible at the game would be more efficient than the best player in the world solo'ing.
If your friends aren't on, you shouldn't have to add random players into your party to stay semi-competitive.
The gap is just way too large. I mean why is there even a solo leader board when all the solo players are in groups to gain the gear and paragon exp that they use in solo.

To be completely honest, I wasn't expecting very many big changes in the near future. What makes it more interesting is that so many big changes are all being put into the same patch.
Hope they pull it off well.

i kinda disagree ..the leveling process, yes it feels nice, but it is something what you should only do once.. you go through whatever you want and you are done (if you like it, you DO HAVE the option to do it again).., if you were forced to lvl up every single character through story mode with no boost etc.. i guarantee that there would be much more ppl complaining..
I think leveling should be completely removed from seasons. However, if leveling is staying in the game than it should be relevant, and about finding the right gear and skill to level. The start of the season went like this:
Spend like 5-7 hours to level
Take like 3-5 hours to gear enough to farm T6
Do Grifts over and over again
The leveling right now wastes more time than gearing your character for the highest content outside of GRifts. It's clear that the whole game revolves around GRifts. So if leveling is going to be a thing, it needs to be relevant rather than just a pointless time sink. Otherwise they would be better off just starting players at 70 and just let them start GRifting.

Something to keep in mind is that it's pretty much impossible to keep D3 as a truly competitive game. The main reason is that it's a loot hunt game, meaning loot has to be worth farming for. Same goes with paragon exp. At the same time, anytime players stats are no longer equal, skill become less and less important, while luck and amount of time played becomes more and more important.
When you look at competitive games, the playing field is nearly even for all players. Differences go as far as cosmetics, and that's about it. D3 has too many layers of separation between player base. Looking at just armor you have:
No set
Wrong set
Right set non ancient, wrong rolls
Right set non ancient, right rolls, low rolls
Right set non ancient, right rolls, high rolls
Then on top of that you have the whole thing in ancient form. And then there's weapons, following a similar pattern. Paragon levels is one more level of character disparity between players. Realistically people can't compete out of their own gearing category, which leaves that game so better gear = gets further. Skill only really matters assuming gearing requirement is met.
Basically every time the loot hunt is improved (hellfire amulet, ancient items, etc) the competitive aspect of the game is worsened due to the larger gear disparity. Improving the loot hunt and making the game more competitive really can't go hand in hand unless there is a competitive aspect that doesn't account for player gear and paragon points. And if something like that were to happen, there likely would be no point farming gear.

D3 at launch was by far my favorite version of D3. I played a DH back then.
The game now is definitely better than it was a few months back, but far from being my favorite version of D3.

Your eHP is quite low to do these Arreat Crater Runs. If you can get your Vit up to about 35-40k you should be able to do this type of run that kills only white mobs at around MP5-7. I don't know how things are on the European Server (I'm on America Region), so it's difficult to know how items are priced there. You should eventually switch your boots to Zunimasa boots, as that gives a big DPS boost for players using Skorn, though your current eHP is already pretty low.
With lower eHP like how you are currently geared, you may be better of running the usual low MP TR farming routes. There is a really good post explaing pretty much everything about TR on Blizzard's forum:

^It's a long read, but the author has a LOT of very useful information in there.

I did MP10 solo SB/Kulle with a similar setup. I did change a couple abilities though, most importantly using the Stun Bell instead of Empowered. I did it at 331k eHP and still skipped both OWE and STI.
Here's my SB/Kulle Kill video using a TR/WoL spec:

After some testing with gearing I made this video showing how you can actually use Life After Kill, which costs practically nothing, instead of Life Steal for some higher MP farming.
I did a MP7 VotA DE run in this video, though when I tested it I was able to do MP10 scorpion runs as well (though not quite at my 150m exp/hour mark). Depending on what's available on the AH, doing a method like this may be worth a shot for you:

If you're fine with low-MP farming, than I would say DH is a good place to go. I was able to keep up fairly consistent 90-100m exp/hour while paragon leveling my DH.

Really depends on what MP you're planning to do on your monk. I just uploaded a video showing how farming can still be decent at mid MPs even without the LS Skorn, so you can technically spend a lot less on a weapon as long as you aren't going to go solo'ing ubers and stuff.

Video Uploaded to show how effective a Low Budget (10m) Life After Kill Skorn can be when DE farming in MP7 (8 Elites in 5 Minutes). Run is slower than using my LS Skorn (Run takes 4 minutes instead of 5), but is still surprisingly effective for the cost. In MP5 where mobs have less HP, I can get practically the same farm rate (8-9 Elites in 3 minutes) as using my LS Skorn for 1/30th the price. LS Skorn is basically still required for even higher MP Elite Farming and Uber fights though.
My overall Stats aren't very high for MP7 (160k DPS, 337k eHP), yet the run is still quite smooth.

I think that's the skorn I used in the video (LifeSteal and 1602DPS with ruby, 1362 DPS without the ruby), though I can get practically the same results using a non-LS Skorn. I'm actually going to upload a video sometime later today showing some MP7 farming without my LS skorn.

- 150m exp/hour clearing scorpions in MP10
- 8-9 Elite Kills in 3:00 on MP5 (VotA)
- 8-9 Elite kill sin 4:00 pn MP7 (VotA)
- Solo MP10 Uber SB/Kulle (supposedly the most difficult uber for solo monks)
Stuff I've done in other gear sets using TR+WoL:
- 75m exp/hour clearing scorpions in MP6 wearing under 5m of gear (No BoA stuff, gems included)
- 8-9 Elite kills in MP7 with a 10m non-LS Skorn and my standard gear.

I feel that the TR+WoL specs is one of the most well balanced specs that can be used for practically any application and usable at pretty much any gearing level.

My real gear is 160-176k DPS, and with a LS skorn. If I'm wearing something else, it's probably gear for experimental/testing purposes.

The trick as using a Life After Kill Skorn. I'm fairly certain a monk in like 20m of gear and a hellfire ring should be able to hit like 90-100m exp/hour doing it.

I mean I rolled over inferno on release week because I played a DH with overpowered smokescreen (I made quite a few posts about how OP smokescreen was on the Blizzard forums during beta). There were plenty of threads, posts, and suggestions on the beta forums about abilities like smokesceen, yet Blizzard let all those abilities go live as they were.
So of course when certain classes can beat inferno so fast, yet other classes get stuck due to class balance there would obviously be plenty of complaints.
To be honest, as a DH i actually really enjoyed inferno the way it was released Beating inferno in part blues and generally terrible gear was actually quite challenging and fun even with OP abilities. Yet needless to say, a number of my RL friends quit or rerolled because the game balance was just blatantly poor.

As for difficulty now, it's really hard to say. I mean you simply can't wear BiS level gear and have a challenge since the content can be outgeared.
Like today I was reading Blizzard's Monk Forums, and there were people talking about how to solo MP10 Uber ZK/SB after 1.0.7 as a Monk. Needless to say, I opened MP10 ZK/SB and decided to give it a shot on my Monk. My monk has 385 AR (and an additional 137 Physical), 3662 Armor, and 48k HP. So of course I'm a bit squishy for MP10 stuff, which makes the content challenging.
I managed to kill them on MP10, yet it wasn't a 1-shot. I hit enrage timer for a couple attempts before I got my kill. So in this situation, sure the content WAS challenging, yet if I had like another 100 AR or like 25k more DPS, the challenge simply would not have been the same. I wouldn't run into enrage timers, and I'd be able to kill SB without having to rely on potion healing due to higher mitigation.
-----
The thing is in ActionRPGs gear plays a major role in the game. IMO the best thing that could have been done is to make the most difficult content REQUIRE BiS gear and a very high level of skill, maybe like a GM level in StarCraft. At the same time that high difficulty content can not drop gear that impacts gameplay. rewards in it should have been simply cosmetic items, effects, and dyes.
In such a situation there will be content difficult enough to be challenging for everyone, yet players can always farm the best stat items without having to play near-impossible content.

On my monk (since DH is already P100) i'm farming Arreat Crater on MP 10 averaging around 150m exp/hour. I uploaded a few runs yesterday with my gear and spec:

I do have a Lifesteal Skorn, I just take a ton of damage because of my relatively low (376) AR and I'm running around dragging mobs with me. If anything I need more AR, though I'm already able to solo MP10 ubers with my gear (different gloves), so I probably won't upgrade anything else for a while.

After testing and timing quite a few variations of specs and runes, I've concluded that the fastest monk DE farming spec for me is the one I'm using in this video. Based on both Blizzard's drop rates as well as actual in game testing i'm pretty easily maintaining over 40 Demonic Essences per hour farming VotA.
I actually tried some various abilities instead of serenity as well. At the end I preferred serenity over dashing strike, seven sided strike, and blazing wrath because it simply gave me higher DPS up-time vs mobs. The extra 4 seconds to DPS instead of having to dodge abilities such as frozen and molten explosions made a big difference for me over the benefits of the other abilities.

My stats:
- 175k DPS
- 5% Lifesteal
- 384 AR (521 Physical)
- 3663 Armor
- 46k HP
