I'm excited about this change. As a sidenote, I cleared Diablo last night on Inferno so please don't give me the, "the game is fine don't nerf it, you just suck and you can't beat it".
The game in NOT fine past Act 1 in Inferno for certain classes. I can't speak about other classes but the game is COMPLETELY broken past Act 1 Inferno for the WD. In appropriate gear, nearly every mob in Act 2 will 1 shot you. If you have act 3/4 gear, then you will get 2-3 shot instead (but still 1 shot by some of the mobs). This is a completely broken and not a very fun system. The fact that our pets get 1 shot as well makes matters even worse. A class that mostly has melee spells and is built around the fact that you're expected to have a pet distracting enemies is forced to kite every single mob or face a 1 shot death.
I can build up neph stacks pretty well on Act 4 but it's just frustrating and not very fun to play currently. It's not fun to have a terror demon come out of invis and 1 shot you. It's frustrating to have a corrupted angel charge from off the screen to 1 shot you. That's not the definition of a "hard" game. Put the E-Peen away. Just because things 1 shot you doesn't mean the game is hard, it means it's poorly designed and frustrating. Hell was fairly difficult if you didn't have gear from the AH. It wasn't cheap like Inferno currently is. Act 2 and beyond is over tuned. There is no reason certain mobs should be hitting this hard. It's fine if certain mobs 1 shot (the slow moving mobs that you shouldn't be getting hit by). If you run into an arcane beam, it SHOULD 1 shot you. If a fallen walks up to you and smacks you with his club he SHOULD NOT one shot you. Put the e-peen away, we won't think less of you if you think it's a good thing that the game is nerfed.
I love this game before Inferno. It's a lot of fun, there's a lot of choice between builds and there's a lot of strategy while you fight about when to pick up health globes and when to retreat and potion. There is ZERO strategy in Inferno right now. Once you learn how to kite, you encounter a mob... and you kite it. It's mind numbing. It doesn't take much skill.

DrZey posted a message on :DPS SpreadsheetI got tired of not knowing how big of damage boost I was going to get from items on the AH, so I threw together a spreadsheet. It is accurate down to two decimal places for my character. Editing is locked, so you will need to download it to input your stats. Appologies if there are already spreadsheets floating around. I was unable to locate one.Posted in: Witch Doctor: The Mbwiru Eikura
There may be things I have overlooked and it could certainly be made more functional by some of the spreadsheet wizards, so feel free to improve and rehost.

To people who's damage values are slightly off: First I would double check that you don't have any typos. If that is not the cause, it may be an issue of relying on rounded numbers as the inputs. For instance, the attacks per second listed on your weapon may not be the exact value (especially if you have an attack speed moddifier on the weapon). A more sophisticated spreadsheet could address this, but the current one is likely accurate enough to allow you to make most gearing decisions.
To the people having trouble downloading the document: I believe you need to be in spreadsheet mode to download it. Currently, google appears to be forcing you to view it in "simple list" mode due to the high amount of traffic. I do not know how to resolve this issue, other than for people to try during non-peak hours. Sorry :(. If people would be so kind as to navigate away fromt the online document after downloading, that would be helpfull.
EDIT: I have uploaded multiple coppies of the spreadsheet now. If you cannot download the spreadsheet because you are being forced to view it in "simple mode", try one of these coppies:

Branconovo posted a message on Items pointless to sell on the AH-People usually use the price as a filter.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
If I'm going to search for a 2 hand weapon, and I'm willing to pay 100k , I would put 50k as maximum buyout and see what I can get, them 75k and 100k. (sometimes you get a nice deal with half the money)
So if you're selling, it's the other way around, you filter filter for 100k and theres a 1000 dps 2 hand there, so you have to go down to 90k and onwards until you find that the average 900 dps weapon is being sold by let's say 60k.
I know it's kinda tricky, but I guess it's what everyone is doing atm, since theres almost no other option... -

Brightstar_Korgath posted a message on Thoughts on HauntI used the mana return haunt and dire bats for all of progressing inferno act 1. This was before I had increase attack speed on everything I could get it on and have since switched to the standardish splinter build for working on act 2. Before IAS and with low gear (10-15k damage) haunt can be great for pure kiting of rare and champion packs, but its slow and you will run into enragePosted in: Witch Doctor: The Mbwiru Eikura
occasionally. Come act 2 I have found it to be much too slow for rare and champion packs and you need the space for more defense talents in act 2.
Im running splinter and ghost firebomb for offense and a mix of 4 of the good defense abilities. I used ghost for all the aoe and it works on Invulnerable minion pack so you can still get at champions. If haunt was affected by IAS like a haste type stat (i.e. more ticks in same time frame) it would be amazing, but from my understanding you are only able to cast it faster, which make haunt terrible in a IAS build.
TL:DNR: Haunt scales terrible with gear and ever worse as your skill with WD improves. -

Theungry posted a message on Hell is really challenging without auction house.I hit the AH several times toward the end of nightmare and into Hell, but I only buy items at value prices. It makes no sense to splurge on the best level 54 weapon money can buy, when it will be dwarfed by level 57-60 weapons. I'd rather get a few cheap upgrades here and there to keep my momentum going while leveling than to farm a particular section, though. That's just me.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion -

Diablofans.com is an AWESOME website, and I've learned a ton on how to create the best builds for my Demon Hunter and Witch Dr. But the forum is also filled with people who are super emotionally attached to Blizzard and do not want to hear that they can do anything wrong. In fact, Blizzard hasn't done anything wrong. It's how a company reacts to a problem which shows its strength. At the end of the day, none of us KNOW if there is an exploit or not. However, it certainly sounds feasible. Especially since there are numerous accounts of people who have similar reports. Perhaps, a bunch of people coordinated these stories across a myriad of websites and made sure that their stories had enough similarities to make it look like there is a pattern. Or perhaps, if a person's account got raped and pillaged, then it was because her skirt was too short, her underwear was infested with malware, and didn't use an authenticator for protection. Over half the people on this thread have voiced the latter and blamed the victims.
+1 for someone else with a semblance of reason.
I didn't occur to me until you posted it, but this is a textbook example of victim blaming. -

istreamer posted a message on Accounts being hacked on US serversI have nothing left to say on this subject until Blizzard has released their comments on it. There is even an article on Forbes now, lmao.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
All that is left to do is wait for the confirmation, then harass every user that questioned me in these topics until I get banned.(mavfin being the most notorious, as he has literally been calling out individuals on official forums for being retarded and having keyloggers for thousands of posts) -

mavfin posted a message on Accounts being hacked on US serversThis was actually expected. Bunch of people not used to Bnet, didn't have authenticators, and are absolutely 'sure' their stuff was clean. Check closer, and/or stop sharing credentials, or using them on other accounts.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
They weren't clean. If Blizzard was broken, you'd have thousands upon thousands of exploits in WoW, SC2, and D3 all at the same time.
As far as getting around an authenticator, it *still* requires the client to be compromised, so that the login credentials can be redirected to the hackers, and the authenticator data is used in real time. So, not likely, but possible. I combed the forums looking at this stuff, and just about anyone *directly asked* if they had an authenticator said no.
I work in IT security, and as I said, I expected a rash of hacking to hit people w/o authenticators. If you're on bnet, get one. It makes you a much harder target if/when you get compromised.
As far as the accusations that it's server-side? That's just people looking for someone to blame. We'd have more problems than a few hundred or even a few thousand D3 hacks if that was the case. (Keep in mind that if you estimate 1 million users, and I think that's low, 1000 is only .1% of the users.)
Edit: To anyone who personally has gotten hacked, I'm not trying to be insulting. Sorry, but, the hole's on your end in some way. You may be rootkitted and not know it. I've seen several of those lately that didn't get caught by some of the better-known (and rather crappy, but I digress) AV packages. If it's Norton or McAfee...replace it. Really. -

Doez posted a message on Accounts being hacked on US serversPosted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from Khrull777
If somebody is using an authenticator and they still got hacked, it is a server side issue.
The chances of hacking an account with an authenticator are very, very small. It is possible, but extremely small because the code timeframe is just a few seconds. Let's say you were browsing sites you shouldn't be browsing, and all of a sudden lost your account later that day.. What would you tell people, or tell Blizzard? You are going to say you have an authenticator of course, so that you get the sympathy or empathy you are looking for, and not being ridiculed for trying to download a bot or look at a site with known bugs/hacks.
If Blizzard came out and said that their databases have been compromised and that authenticators no longer work because of it, I'll quit D3 forever and eat crow from you all to the point of no returning to DFans. It's worth betting that the kids with compromised accounts do not have authenticators. -

With some information out may or maynot be correct about how hard monsters hit in Inferno will WD pets still be viable?
JayWilson:Yes, pets scale pretty well in inferno. You do have to refresh them, but they are useful for tanking mobs
So, all we have to be concerned about is pets accidentally pulling in mobs. I'm sure Blizzard has this one figured out, be pretty glaring omission otherwise.

Are there any ridiculous posts that the Blue responded to that made you think, these Blizzard guys have a lot more patience than I do?

You're right and you're wrong. A lot of people will go right towards the center and there will be a major blood bath. I'm going to avoid the AOE bloodbath by running to the border of the map and blending in with the trees. After the blood bath, then I will pick off one person at a time. Most people look at PvP as a contest to kill as many other players as possible. I look at the game as survival and that will afford me the most victories.
When you're hardcore, you don't live long by killing off three people at once and dying in the process. You win by hit and running.

I am sending in my hardcore PvP suggestion to Blizzard, along with a $10 Paypal donation so they include this feature. Keep a lookout for my Demon Hunter Katniss on Battle.net.
