I love that everyone's argument against soulbinding is "it's from WoW" even though there are tons of reasons why it would make the game better, the biggest of which are that the economy would be much more stable and inflation would be vastly reduced.
As if soul binding is a WoW-only mechanic, and as if it mattered if it was.
Ignorance and blind hate trump logic and reason every time.

Ruppgu posted a message on Staves v/s Daggers + DollI've done the math and it's not even close.Posted in: Witch Doctor: The Mbwiru Eikura
What's up with talking about the DH and + dmg? I was only talking about the WD and to a lesser extent, the Wizard. Faster weapons are way better for the classes with resource generators (duh). This is because a faster weapon also increases their resource generation. However, the WD is a constant resource generation class so it has no effect. You won't be able to cast more spells with a quicker weapon because you will be limited by your mana pool.
It will depend on your build of course. If you plan on spamming a really cheap primary spell then you might get more use out of a 1 hander but you'd be stupid to go 1 hand if you have a build that is focused around a heavy direct damage nuke like dire bats or zombie bears. Unless of course, you reach a point where your mana regen is so high that you can't use all of your mana at your current APS.
Exalted Fine Piercer
Rare Dagger
177.8 Damage Per Second
59–178 Damage
1.50 Attacks per Second
+
Exalted Fine Unspeakable Thing
+(24-72)–(25-265) Damage
which would make the dagger do
107-323 damage (I used +48-145)
A best rolled offhand would give you 131-443 damage for the dagger
VS
Exalted Fine Slag Hammer
Rare Two-Handed Mace
518.4 Damage Per Second
551–601 Damage
0.90 Attacks per Second
I'll be doing the math again on Monday when they release official item data because the following above is likely out of date. -

Onoes posted a message on Dying before releaseI was supposed to go skydiving on Sunday, but I pushed it back a month. As idiotic as it is, I just kept thinking "If my chute doesn't open... all I'm going to be thinking on my plummet to earth is "ARE YOU F*#$%ING KIDDING ME, LESS THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE DIABLO?!?! REALLY???"."Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I'm sure thoughts of my wife and kids would also pass before me... pretty sure... but yeah.
I've been working 70+ hours a week the last two months, and any free time has been devoted to converting my garage into a game room, building a custom desk with 6 PC's for the release party. I have friends from all over the country flying in to stay with me for a week, and have the time off work (The first vacation I've taken in 4 years).
So yeah. It's a dumb concern, but a concern nonetheless, and yes, for the next few days I am going to try to avoid things which have a higher than normal chance of killing me dead.
I feel you OP! -

varox posted a message on Dying before releaseSo, is anyone else worried that due to some totally random (or perhpaps, not random) chance, they will be inadvertently killed before Diablo III launches? Brain aneurism, sudden cardiac death, tripping down the stairs? You don't even need to leave your home for something like that to happen.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
This is obviously me overthinking something to an extreme degree, but surely I'm not the only one hoping to live for at least a couple more weeks. Anyway, goodluck staying alive for another 6 days, everyone. -

CorDa616 posted a message on DIABLO 3 GAMEPLAN!My gameplan is LITERALLY going to be this.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Ten steps before
1) Camp outside gameshop for midnight release for my CE
2) Get home and hug the box to my body for about five minutes
3) Slowly open it, I might even see a light coming from it as I open it
4) Unbox everything, placing it delicately on my bed
5) Scan over it lovingly for about a minute
6) Place the skull next to my screen, inserting the soulstone with care
7) Grab the game, rip over the cover and pop the dvd into the drive in record time
8) Start installing
9) Very impatiently wait for it finish with all the updates, patches and other stuff.
10) Squeal like a little girl when I start playing and die of happiness
Ten steps after
1) Touch, poke and prod everything that can be touched, poked and prodded
2) Explore every dungeon, cave, hole, etc
3) Listen to everything everyone says with meticulous care
4) Read every lore entry I get
5) Run around all the main bosses for about two minutes just so that I can look at them properly and learn their attack style.
6) Repeatedly kill said bosses until I know their AI quite well
7) Watch every cinematic at least twice
8) Finish Normal
9) Go back and kill every boss again for a chance of better gear
10) Rush through Nightmare and Hell and most likely die in inferno.
I CANNOT wait...
5 Days, 8 Hours, 26 Minutes and give or take a second. I'm READY! -

Mr Zobo posted a message on Bash Vs FrenzyFrom another post about a Barb build someone commented that Frenzy does more damage than Bash.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
Well I did some math on Frenzy+Maniac Vs Bash+Onslaught.
Comparing these 2 skills has to count the total number of attacks for each Skill within the same amount of time. Using anything less than 1 attack (.15% of an attack for example) for calculations in inaccurate. Using IAS (Increased Attack Speed) is also inaccurate.
This is what I came up with..... and I think its pretty accurate.
_____________________________________________________
Calculations using a hypothetical attack speed of 1 attack per second.
FRENZY + MANIAC
1 sec - 110%
.85 sec - 114% -- (224%)
.70 sec - 118% -- (342%)
.55 sec - 122% -- (464% -- 3.1 sec -- Bash has done 582%, striking 3 times Vs Frenzy's 4)
.40 sec - 126% -- (590% -- 3.5 sec -- At this point Frenzy has struck again before Bash can)
.25 sec - 130% -- (720% -- 3.75 sec -- Frenzy has stuck a 2nd time before Bash can)
.25 sec - 130% -- (850% -- 4 sec -- Bash has now Hit for 194%, much less than Frenzy's 130% however, Frenzy has struck a total of 3 times more in the same amount of time, resulting in more damage being done)
Total Damage in 4 seconds = 850%
Damage in the following 4 seconds once Frenzy has stacked is as follows. Total = 2080%
1 sec - (4x Attacks @130) = 520
1 sec - (4x Attacks @130) = 520
1 sec - (4x Attacks @130) = 520
1 sec - (4x Attacks @130) = 520
Total Damage in 8 seconds = 2930%
_______________________________________________
BASH + ONSLAUGHT
1 sec - 194%
1 sec - 194% -- 388%
1 sec - 194% -- 582%
1 sec - 194% -- 776%
Total Damage in 4 seconds = 776%
Total Damage in 8 seconds = 1552% (damage simply doubled, no modifiers applicable)
_______________________________________________
What this basically means, is that unless an enemy is destroyed by Bash+Onslaught in 3 strikes or less, Frenzy+Maniac does more damage. -

I think pierce is really crappy unless you have an odd build that relies on one of the primary skills for the main source of damage.
I disagree, I think with the right build and perhaps supplementary items you could get some use out of it.
Sacrifice - Pride for instance can restore your entire mana bar np.
Vision quest would seem to yield and absurd amount of mana if you can keep 4 skills on CD. (especially if it includes mana regen affixes, which are listed as +14 man atm.)
There is also a Hit mana = 12.
Max Mana of +150
The health gained by blood ritual is at lest partially consumed by the health loss component. Its really only worth looking at the 15% mana reduction imo.
True... I guess I didn't fully state my thoughts there, lol. It's only good if you're mana capped (have more mana than you can spend).
You'll be spending 30% more mana if you use pierce which means you will cast 30% less spells but the spells will do 20% more damage. Seems like a crappy deal to me... at the cost of one of your passive slots even.
There is of course, the benefit of doing more upfront damage. If you want to have a burst damage build, pierce is for you. However, realize that you will be giving up a lot of long term dps. It's a bit of a trap passive imo. It sounds good at first look but if you sit down and think about the tradeoffs... it's really not worth it unless your build is made with it in mind (no mana skills, low mana skills).
Just like you said, if you can front load and kill everything in front of you fairly easily then its quite good, as you never have to worry about long term scenarios.
The way that I look at pierce is that its going to be good for norm, nightmare, maybe hell, crap for entry inferno, and then make a comeback when you farm inferno. -

With some information out may or maynot be correct about how hard monsters hit in Inferno will WD pets still be viable?
JayWilson:Yes, pets scale pretty well in inferno. You do have to refresh them, but they are useful for tanking mobs
So, all we have to be concerned about is pets accidentally pulling in mobs. I'm sure Blizzard has this one figured out, be pretty glaring omission otherwise.

Are there any ridiculous posts that the Blue responded to that made you think, these Blizzard guys have a lot more patience than I do?

You're right and you're wrong. A lot of people will go right towards the center and there will be a major blood bath. I'm going to avoid the AOE bloodbath by running to the border of the map and blending in with the trees. After the blood bath, then I will pick off one person at a time. Most people look at PvP as a contest to kill as many other players as possible. I look at the game as survival and that will afford me the most victories.
When you're hardcore, you don't live long by killing off three people at once and dying in the process. You win by hit and running.

I am sending in my hardcore PvP suggestion to Blizzard, along with a $10 Paypal donation so they include this feature. Keep a lookout for my Demon Hunter Katniss on Battle.net.
