Saying that it is better to spend your real-life money on a game because time = money defeats the entire purpose of a game. Actually enjoying playing it.

It defeats the entire purpose of the game... for *you*. Maybe the entire purpose of the game for this kid is to troll and aggitate people like you? Maybe this is his only way to shine in life... he could be a very inisgnificant person outside of the game. At the end of the day... whatever he did... it doesn't (or at least shouldn't) effect you or your enjoyment of the game. Even when they add PvP to the game it won't make him "good" at PvP. If he doesn't know his skills, when to use them and how to move then he'll get annihilated. And guess what... he'll rage quit. It still won't effect you. And if he did get power-leveled or buy gold... he'll end up getting hacked eventually anyway cause he'll probably go back for more.

Eh, lag just shot up into the 1600's and then the servers crashed. Ever since they've been giving Error 37. Who knows how long they'll be down. I was logged in enough to see my Wizard die to invisible mobs. I wonder how many people lost their hardcore characters to the lag boss.

Agreed. Some packs have 4. But I have also encountered a pack one time that only gave white drops. It's the glory of gambling! :-)

Well, I haven't played the Wizard, but if it's anything like the Witch Doctor... intelligence mulitplies your damage. So... the higher your intelligence the bigger increase you see on any items that increases your overall damage.

It's news to me. I haven't had a disconnect since day 2 of release. I do agree that the Auction House has been a disaster though. From a company that's been running an AH for 8 years now you'd think they would be better capable of figuring things out (especially the UI). Other than that... game has been available every time I've wanted to play and except for a short stutter while playing (very, very rarely) I've run into no gameplay issues since initial release... and I do play several hours a day.

Here's the thing though... Diablo 3 is what it is. People seem like they're acting like D3 is an expansion for Diablo 2 and should pick up exactly where D2 left off. It's a different game. Maybe some of aspects of it aren't appealing to the diehard D2 player right now, but people aren't even giving it a chance to develop into something. If only people were to give constructive criticism rather than break into nerd rage at the drop of a hat (not a comment on this post, btw). I'm a long time Diablo player (even back to the first one) and I'm really enjoying this game (granted I never took it to the level of many in this post). I've already gotten far more out of D3 than the majority of $60 games that I've purchased and see myself playing it for a long, long time.

I get that the game is not completely satisfying the absolutely most passionate of D2 players who know every single piece of intricate D2 information and every D2 abbreviation possible, but I also wager that those players probably also represent most of the 1.9% that Blizzard is talking about being in Inferno right now. Just like all of Blizzard's games... this is commonly referred to as the "vocal minority". Yes, they may be the most possionate, but Blizzard has to be careful that when trying to keep that group happy that they don't alter the enjoyment for the 98.1% which are out there playing the game and just enjoying themselves. D3 is going to change over time. Maybe no one will be playing it in 10 years because it never met those expectations. We'll just have to wait and see.

posted a message on If legendaries are overall not the best items...
Yeah, the problem with Legendaries really isn't their drop rate... it's the stats. They shouldn't necessarily immediately be the best items in the game, but they should have a "chance" of being the best items in the game. Right now... they're guarunteed to *not* be... that's just wrong. At the very least give them an equal or even slightly higher chance of having the same stats that a blue item can.

You should probably look into getting Screen Hunter from Wisdom-Soft. There is a free version. It lets you select a specific area of the screen to save so no further editting should be required.

posted a message on Tell me how secure Bnet is now!
    Quote from mindstain

If you go to the Diablo III forums right now you can read the ranting of numerous Diablo III players (many of whom own authenticators) that have had their accounts hacked/stolen and their items stripped from them. Blizzard has responded with a generic "buy our authenticators response" TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT THEIR AUTHENTICATORS.

P.S. how many of you think this occurence will make you hesitant to participate in using the RMAH? (not that your credit card info isn't already tied to your battle.net account from any previous online purchases such as Diablo III download or WoW game time.)

Ok, first off... your post makes me think of lemmings (you know, those small animals that die during migration because they have to follow the pack even if it's into a deadly situation). Just because a group is saying something some people seem to fall in line and follow blindly without any further information. "What's that? You're saying something that I'd like to believe is true? Well I'll just follow right along then and start to spread the misinformation as fact!"

Blue post on the front page: "Despite the claims and theories being made, we have yet to find any situations in which a person's account was not compromised through traditional means of someone else logging into their account through the use of their password. While the authenticator isn't a 100% guarantee of account security, we have yet to investigate a compromise report in which an authenticator was attached beforehand."

Because I don't agree with the misinformation being spread you'll probably lash out and call me a fanboy. That's cool. I'm ok with that. The RMAH is not linked directly with a credit card. It's linked with a Blizzard account that in turn "can" have a link with a Paypal account. At best someone would be able to transfer funds out of your Blizzard account and into your Paypal account. Now if your Paypal account gets compromised... I feel confident in saying that is *not* Blizzards responsibility.

posted a message on Accounts being hacked on US servers
    Quote from istreamer

Please explain how suddenly tens of thousands of people are being hacked, even those with authenticators, in a very short window, can all be attributed to individual cases of user error.

The short answer is: statistically speaking you dont see an overnight spike in hacked accounts and blame individual users. Hundreds of thousands of people dont all suddenly compromise their own account security based on their own individual actions, at the same time. You are a literal retard for even considering this.

Let me explain then. Often, people on the internet just like in real life wander around with no clue as to what they're doing. If their account wasn't hacked directly then in most cases their e-mail account was hacked directly. Which means their battle.net password can be reset. Which means their game account is compromised.

    Quote from BigEd781

Many people on the official forums who have reported this happening to them have authenticators attached to their account. Try again.

What? People on an internet forum lied to make their story more solid? Oh my... that's never happened before. Of course it's still possible for this to happen to someone and I'm not suggesting it never does, but I am suggesting that some of the people saying they had authenticators more likely than not... didn't.

    Quote from istreamer

So that is whats going on then? A tens of thousands of people are all in on some elaborate hoax to make it look like server side hacks are occurring? Really dude?

Nope, I don't think it was an elaborate hoax. But I do think it was a large group of people who got taken advantage of by some hackers. Blizzard can't protect people from themselves. It's certainly possible for Blizzard or any company to have a security hole like the one that was being brought up. I just prefer to hear it from an official source instead of immediately believing anonymous posts on an internet forum. Why? Because history tells me that many of those posters are either not understanding what happened or are purposely trying to add fuel to a fire. Maybe sad... but again... history proves it true all too often.

    Quote from istreamer

Youre such a sad sack blizz fanboy you truly believe no amount of evidence could prove blizzard has done wrong. enjoy eating humble pie when blizz follows up with their annoucement detailing the issue.

From what I saw just about everyone was simply saying they wanted to hear the response from Blizzard before jumping to conclusions about the situation. Somehow that was unacceptable to you. Why people seem surprised that they come on to a fan site and find fans there always confuses me.

Hey, I know. Let's argue, fight and be nasty about it with each other over something none of us know a damn thing about.

Unfortunately Blizzard seems to generate a lot of hate. It seems like many people like the thought of them failing as well. I would think this simply comes from them being the most popular. If someone else were then they'd probably be getting the hate instead.

I have to admit that I initially thought for sure it was a bunch of people that didn't have authenticators. The more I read though the more it's pointing to something else. I guess the thing is... for many years now people have been getting hacked due to their own lack of security or ignorance so it's easy to jump to that conclusion (and I still feel it's a fair assumption to make). Blizzard will have some serious wounds to tend if this does turn out to be a security hole on their side.

I suppose that Blizzard has to take the good with the bad though. They're reaping the benefits that come from having rabid fans... they're going to be held to a higher standard as a result.

I thought they said that rare packs have the same chance to drop gear as bosses. That way people wouldn't be doing a run at one boss over and over like they did in D2. In other words, don't focus on what Diablo or any other boss drops... start running dungeons and look for those packs. Maybe I'm wrong on this?
