We're continuing to work on the issues currently affecting the Americas region, which are resulting in failed login attempts and service issues. We have identified the issue at this time, and expect services for Diablo III to be restored at approximately 11:45 PM PDT.

    Thank you for your patience

Thats 2:45 if you're east coast

That's 1:45AM PDT / 4:45AM EST if you know how to speak Blizzardese... :-)

    Quote from Lowborne

they were back up on time for the maintainance earlier today, why so certain they won't be tonight? just find something else to do.

That's not entirely true. The initial message (at 11:30PDT) stated that they were doing emergency maintenance and that servers would be back online at approximately 1:30PDT. Servers didn't actually come back online for stable gameplay until 3:30PDT.

I wouldn't set all of my hopes on the 11:45PST estimate though. They've consistently missed marks like these. I'm not saying that to rip on Blizzard... just saying... I'd be more surprised if things were working than if they weren't.

I honestly don't understand how people can eat that crap. I seriously wonder why those companies are still in business. Even after seeing stuff like this, I don't understand.

It doesn't taste as good as good healthy food, and it obviously is less nutritious thus causing a decrease in energy levels.

Yeah... what tastes good couldn't possibly be a matter of opinion could it? But I forgot... one of the main points of internet forums is people thinking their opinion is more correct than others.

    Quote from Snowmist

I can't see them being worth more later, I think if you try and sell them tomorrow, for $300+, you'll get the most.

You're kidding right? The WoW pet alone (unless I'm mistaken... I thought there was a WoW vanity pet) will cause this CE to be worth a fortune down the road. Let people who aren't playing come back for Mists of Pandaria... let me get into those pet battles and get super obsessive over them... then let them get the scent of a pet they dont have... convert to cash. It might not be worth it to you, but there are a lot of game players out there with a lot of money to throw around.

You would have to log into your battle.net account and check your region in there. If it's wrong then you'll need to contact Blizzard to have it corrected.

They already stated that at first you would only be able to play in the region that you're in. So if you're in the US... no EU or Asia play until they open it up. I think they said that would probably be happening shortly after the US went live depending on server stability.

They really don't have anything to work on in 2013 other than that mmo, except maybe the final SC2 expac, and maybe the 1st D3 xpac.

Right... nothing else. Nothing like multiple major content patches for Mists of Pandaria and starting to develop the concept for the WoW expansion to follow MoP. Oh yeah, and the announced console version of Diablo III. Yeah... nothing to work on at all.

posted a message on So the next question. Midnight May 15th we can play, but what timezone?
    Quote from viferno
Highlander trust me on this, they don't release on midnight in your time zone, its theirs, as people have said it wouldn't be "fair" to release it at different times, as I would be able to play it before you :P!

So, while Blizzard isn't sure yet (as stated in Bashiok's twitter feed) you know for them. It is without a doubt a fact that Burning Crusade and WotLK, for instance, were available to play when midnight hit in each time zone. On the flip side once I got home from the store and installed Cataclysm I had to wait until 3am to play. I'm simply pointing out that none of this has been set in stone in the past and shouldn't be assumed to be so in the future.

Personally, I think the game US Servers will be up and running at midnight PST the same way Cataclysm launched. However, I don't think this has anything to do with being "fair" to people. I think it just makes sense for Blizzard to base the things they do on their home timezone. I wouldn't be surprised if European servers go live based on the timezone for France. Since so many people will have the digital download installed already it makes more sense for it to go online at the same time. it wasn't that long ago that you didn't have any options since you couldn't do anything until you got the discs from the store anyway.

2 months is too away to put in where I work, but I'll definitely be taking a few days off. It feels even better knowing you're at home playing D3 and being paid while you're doing it!

    Quote from Corpsie

Nothing major is left, Jay Wilson tweeted the other day that patch 14 was what they intended to ship. just some tuning and balancing still to come.

Close, but we're not quiet there yet unfortunately.

It sure seems like you're taking that tweet out of context. He was referring directly to a question re: the skills that are in the game. He never said that the entire game was set for shipping. No one outside of Blizzard knows what they are working on or still have to work on at this point. There could easily be another beta patch (or more) before this game gets released.

Original question to him was "Why changing the lvl req. for skills: for testing, or for polishing, or to silence the demanding of the release date? :)"

Jay's response: "what is currently in the beta is what we intend for ship, but we're still tuning and things can change."

posted a message on Big News Inc? + Error 395000 Server-wide!?
    Quote from Molster

oh and he said "fun" not "big".

Seriously... there is a significant difference between "something fun planned" and "big news". If he had said "big news" for real I would be expecting a release date. Due to the fact that he simply said "Diablo 15 year anniversary is in 9 days! (We have a little something fun planned for the week after.)" leads me to expect a ton of disappointed Diablo fans and a lot of forum rage.

I realize Blizzard wants to keep the hype machine running, but even I'm starting to get really burned out on it. I think that for a company that knows how eager/rabid their customers are for an upcoming product that it's a borderline slap in the face to keep throwing out these vague statements. They know without a doubt that people are going to read into them and even though it's the people's own fault for jumping to conclusions... Blizzard keeps putting those morsels out for them to attack. I'm not trying to speak for anyone else, but it's my opinion that I wish they would just STFU until they have a release date.

I hope they don't end up tweaking this game into the ground. Sometimes a game ships without every desired component. WoW expansions are definite examples. Content that was desired or even announced as being included wasn't in the game at launch. That's what they make patches for! Don't get me wrong... I'll be buying the game if it comes out in 2012 or 2014. I'm just tired of the tweets and forum posts that start the community stirring and lead to nothing.

posted a message on Is it possible to play a difficulty setting harder than Normal in D3 beta?
    Quote from AugustAsh
So do you know if it is possible to level up high enough by rerunning the beta content over and over to get to a harder difficulty?

No, the only way to reach the next level of difficulty in D3 is to finish the current difficulty... that means complete Acts I - IV. Since you can only play Act I in the beta... it is impossible to reach the next difficulty mode.

posted a message on Why is the D3-CE not available for pre-order on amazon?
    Quote from Laevus

I seriously doubt that all of the CE have been sent out to suppliers and there will be no more since I have been checking all UK retailers regularly for it and haven't found a single one listed. I find it highly unlikely that Blizzard would ship the CE to US retailers and completely leave out the UK market.

I'm not suggesting that they've been sent to retailers. What I'm saying is Blizzard decides on a number of CE's to make (let's say 250,000 for the hell of it). They have to hire companies to make 250,000 of each item that goes in the CE's (things like the Diablo 3 skull memory stick holder, the hard cover art book, etc.) Those are being manufactured now. I don't know how they decide how many to make, but experience tells me that once they decide... that's it... they don't make more. If they just made more as needed then it wouldn't be very collectible or special. Bad business? I guess you could look at it like that. It sure doesn't make sense that they wouldn't want to sell more of the expensive version if they could. There's a downside to making too many of them too, because it seems like once the first week of release is over... any unsold CE ends up sitting in inventory forever (as I said above... I still see Cataclysm CE's sitting on my Best Buys shelf). So I'm sure they put a lot of thought into how many they make. Plus ordering up another 30,000 is probably way more expensive than the initial "big" order would be per item. One thing is for sure... there will be lots of them on ebay.

posted a message on Why is the D3-CE not available for pre-order on amazon?
Hate to break it to those of you that didn't get a CE (I didn't either as I wasn't even aware that it was officially available for pre-order), but you're gonna be out of luck unless you want to purchase one on ebay or luck into a store that has some extra on the shelves (like a Walmart or Best Buy). Once the pre-orders for Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King sold out... they were gone. I remember this very well because the WotLK pre-order sold out in like 3 days or something and my wife was ready to kill me because I missed out on it. There won't be more.

Like I said, there's a small chance you'll find some on store shelves on the day of release (there are still Cataclysm CE's on the shelf at my local Best Buy). Blizz has had companies making the contents of the CE for a long time now and they had them make a specific number of those items that go in the box. They've never printed extra CE's int he past... they aren't going to do it this time.
