I just heard a kid in General chat talking about how easy the game was, and how they were nerfing it because everyone else was bad. I viewed his profile, and sure enough he had a full clear of Inferno as a Barbarian. I felt it a bid odd that he only had 120 hours of "time played," and only 1.5 million gold collected. I decided to inspect him, and that is when I realized that he is wearing nearly 100 million gold worth of items.
Call me crazy, but I some how doubt that this guy got his insane gear (talking perfect Legendaries in every slot) by playing legit. If this is a sign of what the future holds after the Real Money Auction House goes live, this game may be hard to take seriously. Especially from a PVP standpoint.
Not to sound like a dick, but... welcome to Diablo? The absence of a RMAH didn't stop people in D2 from spending $$$ on gear, not sure why you would expect anything else from "legit" play in D3.

I don't know, I just found it really irritating to hear someone who blatantly bought every item they are wearing with real-life money talk about how the game was too easy, and that everyone else was simply bad. While I played Diablo 2 (mostly offline), this is the first time I have experienced true "pay to win." I played Combat Arms extensively, and League of Legends. While both have paid features, there was no true "pay to win." Similarly with Warcraft. You could have the most gold in the game, but you will never buy most raid items with it.
He could be a Auction House Hero too (i.e. spent all his time buying and selling on the AH to make a ton of money). But yea, he could of also just bought gold.
Legendaries in every slot? Legendaries are not even the best gear, nor really that high in value.
I made a point of saying "perfect" for a reason. It was all Legendary/Set mix (another sign that he bought his items with real life money, because most legit players know these items aren't generally good). Regardless, in this case, every single one of them were truly "perfect" Legendaries. IE. Level 60, and not a better version of that item could possibly be found. His shittiest item was a level 53 "String of Ears" belt, but it was literally the 30 million gold version (20% damage reduction, high str/vit, resist all). I didn't see a single item this kid was wearing that would cost less than 30 million gold.
Hey, just ignore it. It's pretty simple, really. Just play the game as you want to play it. I really couldn't care less if someone is buying a way to "win". It's not gonna affect my playing at all.

I agree that it is best to ignore it, but I'm afraid that people like this who voice their opinions on balance, and difficulty settings are doing a great injustice to those who played the game legitimately.
Secondly, when PVP does go live it makes me wonder if someone who didn't spend real life money on their armor will even have a chance at having a decent win-loss ratio. :-\
Making assumptions is pretty dumb. How do you know he didn't farm his gear? Or got lucky with early drops and sold them for millions on the AH?
Even assuming he paid for his gear, so what? It all comes down to time == money. If you want to spend time farming your gear, that's one way to look at it. If you rather spend money, why does it matter?
And PVP isn't supposed to be balanced, so not sure why the pvp complaint.

I loved D2....but it was a cesspool of cheaters and item buyers. I was heavily into melee tournaments on East Lad.....and I played 100% legit. I built my Zealot the old fashioned way and was proud of it. It sucked going up against guys that obviously (usually admittedly) bought all their items, including a full inv of 3/20/20's. But when I took their fucking ear their was an added sense of pride in the accomplishment.
Anywho....it is what it is....this is the nature of the creature we know as Diablo. My advice is to not allow what others do to affect your gaming experience in any way. People are going to use their wallet to get to the top whether Blizzard sanctions the transactions or not.

Perhaps because I have over 10 million gold collected, 300 hours played time, and still don't know anyone who has gotten a single drop that could fund the type of gear that this man is wearing with his measly 120 hours of time played, and 1.5 million gold collected.
As far as justifying that time is money, that defeats the purpose of the game for me. I work full-time, and I play a game to have fun. Saying that it is better to spend your real-life money on a game because time = money defeats the entire purpose of a game. Actually enjoying playing it. Comparing time spent in the game to time spent at work? Only if the game isn't actually fun to play (which is no the case).

Here's a piece of advice that may help you out in the world. People derive enjoyment from different things. You don't like paying for items and like to play through everything and earn it? Cool! Kudos to you! That doesn't make you better than the person who derives enjoyment from min/maxing his or her character, and if that person can afford to, why the hell not buy his gear?
Amongst my 2 level 60s, I currently have 25 million gold, probably have spent 5-10 million and I definitely know I could have made atleast 100 mill+ if I had leveled faster/gotten into Inferno faster/not rolled a barb first. Don't judge.

Once again, this kid has 120 hours of played time and only one level 60 character, 1.5 million gold collected, and is wearing over 100 million gold in items. Something doesn't add up. Blizzard actually came out and said the reason that accounts get hacked are because a lot of players buying gold illegally. I don't even know why you're questioning this.
Saying that it is better to spend your real-life money on a game because time = money defeats the entire purpose of a game. Actually enjoying playing it.
It defeats the entire purpose of the game... for *you*. Maybe the entire purpose of the game for this kid is to troll and aggitate people like you? Maybe this is his only way to shine in life... he could be a very inisgnificant person outside of the game. At the end of the day... whatever he did... it doesn't (or at least shouldn't) effect you or your enjoyment of the game. Even when they add PvP to the game it won't make him "good" at PvP. If he doesn't know his skills, when to use them and how to move then he'll get annihilated. And guess what... he'll rage quit. It still won't effect you. And if he did get power-leveled or buy gold... he'll end up getting hacked eventually anyway cause he'll probably go back for more.
You can't let shit like this bother you. People are generally pretty fucking stupid, especially the random people you meet playing video games online. First thing I would to is block communication from the moron. Then you don't have to listen to his stupidity and can get back to concentrating on playing the game. I mean, honestly, how does this affect you? PvP isn't even implemented yet.

Because it's completely plausible that he was one of the early people to get to Inferno and sell those drops for millions of gold. Now if he just killed Inferno Diablo last week, that's another thing. Until you know that, you are simply drawing a conclusion with zero evidence.
You've made your point, you played 300 hours, they played 120. Instead of playing the extra 180 hours, he spent $$$ and saved some time. So what? It's his choice. It's also your choice to play the way you do.
I despise people who buy gold, but it surely isn't impossible to have farmed 100 million gold so far.
Just takes a ridiculous amount of farming. 120 hours is impressive but not unreasonable timeframe to farm that much - and as others have said, he might have gotten his gear cheap.
Your scenario is what will happen after RMAH goes live though.
So I have to admit I find your point fairly irritating... you have no proof, evidence or anything to suggest that he bought his gear beyond his time played and gold looted. If you looked at my account you would see similar stats, less than 150 hours played and I have no idea how much gold looted but the VAST majority of my time in the game is spent on the AH or on trading sites. It's what I enjoy so I may have only found a few million in game but I did rush to inferno and was able to sell a few pieces for a couple million to start.
Since then purely from trading and playing the AH, scanning for under priced items, typos in prices etc... I've racked up well over 180M. It does not count your time on the AH towards your time played, just because someone spends a lot of time trading DOES NOT mean that they purchased gear. You may be absolutely correct, however since your current argument also hits players like myself I'm a little offended. In terms of legendaries and sets, Its not an optimal build to be sure but there is a degree of shininess to being full legendaries... (I've played with it... just for fun)
The game is about item discovery and that lottery system but its also always been a game based around trading and economics.. (at least for myself)
Anyways, just wanted to put my 2c in but please be careful how / why you condem people...

In PvP you will be matched against people with similar gear and win/loss ratios. I.e. if he has godly gear and you don't, you won't be playing against him; however if you do have godly gear you will probably destroy him since he has no skill. Irrelevant bitching.
