I recently went to an auction where they were selling props and costumes from the latest Narnia film. This is what I bought:



Lord Octesian's full costume set ($40) + dwarf armour set ($110)

Not sure if my information is accurate or not though, I haven't seen the film.



If Narnia was actually any good, these might be worth something.



There's actually a breastplate that goes with the armour, but its crappy non-adjustable fibreglass so it doesn't actually fit me. I'll work on fixing that.

This is the armour set. Inside the hat it says "miner", so I assume that means dwarf, especially since everything is so small (the greaves are meant to cover the knees, but I am too tall).

Kalan is actually Mendeln's new name. It means 'Teacher' in Trag'Oul language (while Rathma means student).

Also, I think you may be looking at words like 'find' and 'found' too closely. Its like me saying "I made a cubby house and now I have found my safeplace". Ehh I dunno.

I honestly forgot Blizzard occasionally updates the DIII site. My mind completely gave up hope of receiving any official news until some big event occurs. SO this is good, thanks.

People who are completely secure about their sexuality have no problem with complimenting other guys. Which is good, because compliments should always be shared! Or else they go unreceived and are wasted.

Hey Seth, that was a nice news post you made. You're an inspiration to us all.

Umpa65, I actually read your entire post and agree with a lot of the things you said (though, to be honest, it seems like when it comes to this movie everyone on both sides of the fence are just repeating themselves over and over again). I think it's important to think of a movie like this less as "have we experienced this idea before?" and more like "what does this new version of the idea offer us?". In many cases, the answer will just be "entertainment". In this case, though, I think there is more.

Beyond the obvious 'splosions and pretty shiny things that keep this movie interesting to the eye, the relate-ability of the characters was tremendous, despite their obvious physical differences. They still felt genuine (at least to me) within the context of the film and the na'vi were an interesting, if not totally original, group of primitive warriors.

I think, perhaps, the most important point to make about this film, though, is that James Cameron has been imagining all this since he was a child. The script was finished over 15 years ago. The only reason this story didn't exist many, many years ago was because it was not technically possible at the time. How much less 'cliche' would this story have been in 1995 than it is now? Considerably.

In the end it just comes down to personality of the viewer. What they feel they have seen enough of vs. what they care enough about to see again. What they enjoy vs. what they would rather avoid, etc, etc. As long as you watch it before you bash it, I have no problem with anyone disliking it - not to mention, as long as they let me keep my own opinion as well.

I remember when I read over the transcription of this interview and thought the same thing, but also realized even if it was a "leak", 1) we basically knew that one of the remaining classes would be some manner of ranged attacker, most likely a variation of an archer since they're in every RPG, and 2) he was either 1) really only using it as an example or 2) was confident enough that we would all be smart enough to realize that a ranged attacker is an integral part of the class archetypes and so would have to be in the game eventually, so he didn't feel particularly wrong in releasing a possible hint of it before the announcement.

My honest opinion is that it was just an example, since he used references from Diablo II and applied them theoretically to Diablo III to prove a point.

I certainly don't agree with you here. I thought the politics within The Sin War Trilogy were fantasticly complex, and to point that out I am going to give you the list of the different factions and their interactionsn with one another that web them together.

You have the Three Prime Evils and their relationships with their children and followers, you have Inarius' relationship with both the Prime Evils and Angiris Council, you have Tyrael's relationship with the Angiris Council as well as with the Naphalem which are both seperate entities, and you have the Angiris Council's political relationship directly with the Prime Evils themselves. Not to mention, you have the Naphalem caught in the middle of this who could potentially be a power to be reckoned with, and you have the Mage Clans who up to this point aren't even part of the Naphalem. Oh and don't let me forget Trag' Oul, Rathma, and Mendeln who eventually become yet another faction all by themselves who are tyring simutaneously to keep all the others in check.

How many stories in general leave you a feeling of really not knowing who the bad guy is? You have Inarius betraying Heaven, and Lilith whose betrayal of Hell is essentially just as severe; both the Prime Evils and Angiris Council being equally pissed off about this. The Angiris Council, who supposedly represents total goodness, openely makes dealings with the Prime Evils essentially out of respect. Even the Naphalem could potentially become Sanctuary's worst enemy - as seen by Uldyssian's inability to control his powers - that you can't even rule them out as being the potential villian somewhere down the line. In my opinion, The Sin War Trilogy cleary deviates from the cookie-cutter fantasy stories that we've heard so many times.

I sort of see your point here, but we need to remember that they faced Uldyssian, who was clearly created to show us the potential power of the Naphalem to identify them as one of the power houses of the universe. If the humans are helpless or significantly inferior to the Angels and Demons then you don't have a story. Lets also remember that the Naphalem are essentially half angel and half demon; it's not like they are just a normal mortal species like the wildlife in the Torajian Jungles.

Again, you have to look at Uldyssian as the extreme case. His purpose is to show us the maximum potential of the Naphalem's powers, hince why Heaven and Hell would even want to be involved in the first place.[/quote]

Yeah I suppose it was obvious that she was more than she seemed but I thought her story was pretty interesting. Yes she was a demon and did horrible things to Uldyssian, but the Naphalem were her children. How far would you go to save your children? Her story is no where near cookie-cutter in my opinion.

I suppose I was a little dissapointed in how well a mere "human" could match up against immortals from other planes of existence, but we need to remember that Uldyssian altered the Worldstone in such a way that it essentially became his world. I would assume that if they were in Heaven or Hell that he would not be able to accomplish what he did.

The book explains why the spirit was restless with rage when it gives you the backstory between the demon and his angel lover. What this does is it adds yet another issue for both Heaven and Hell to focus on instead of just focusing on one another and thus making the story more complex. This "mix breeding" was esentially another way to put angels and demons on the same level instead of clearly making one of them good and one evil.

The "Ask Lore Questions Here" thread is more enjoyable and informative to read than the books, ant to top it off, better written.

As someone else said, arguing about writing styles is futile and very subjective. However, I will respectfully disagree with you that the story is generic and not complex. I would have to say that having a 10-year-old child (Cedric) being skinned alive by Malic so it could be worn by a Morlu as a desguise is a pretty dark element to have in any story. I could go on but I think that illustrates my point.

a lot of people make threads on the bad things of diablo 3, or a list of greatest fears. lets be positive for a little bit. what has blizzard gotten right with diablo 3?

Depending on some factors I might be willing to do this.

Job-realted experience:
- I have never worked as a concept artist before, but i have been drawing since I was a little kid.
- I am designing websites ( html and flash) It's my part time job.
- I am studying in architecture so I have some experience with programs such as Autocad and 3ds Max.

Strong points:
- Since i'm studying architecture, I have a good knowledge of how to draw architectural entities.
- I am also equally good at drawing people/monsters and other biological organisms (as you can see in my drawings)
- I have some experience in flash/photoshop/3ds max
- I am very enthusiastic about this whole thing since it's something that has interested me since i was a kid.


Weak points:
- I tend to be a perfectionnist so sometimes it takes me a while to finish my drawings.
- I don't have a lot of experience in coloring and finalising drawings in photoshop ( I will buy a pad in the next weeks and begin studying painter).

Problems/complications:
- My semester ends in about 5 weeks, I don't know what delay you want your project to be completed in but this might be the biggest problem.

It does refer to only male witches being the traitors though, so yes I was wrong about there being female warlocks, but "warlock = male witch" is certainly not the only definitive term (and its certainly not a definition that isn't based on culture).

Haha, I think Deckard Cain grew a beard so he could do a "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!" cutscene with Diablo.

The two pictures of Diablo in Diablo III so far that we've seen are from the cinematic trailer here and the splash page currently here, which is also used in the upper-left portion of the top banner of this site.
