Ormus is pretty high on my schedule to be beaten with a lead pipe in front of a church. As is the palace guard in Lut Gholein, instead I'd dip him in brown gravy and lock him in a cage with a pack of bears that're geeked on speed. Finally, I have no personal use for Elzix, so I'd chop off the remainder of his limbs, but I'd switch methods after I cut off a limb. First I'd use a hand saw, then a dull knife, then an olive fork and finally several pieces of frozen pizza crusts. After that, I'd pelt him in face with Gummi Bears, granola bars and used Teletubby dolls for several hours while laughing at his predicament. As a final gesture, I'd take his sorry excuse for a human stump of a body, place it on the front of a loaded ballistae, locate the nearest stone wall or hardened structure, make him listen to the beginnings of the first four seasons of American Idol, and then fire the ballistae.

    Therapy, seek it.

I'll be starting HC with the 5th unannounced class(that is if it is a ranged bow type, I enjoy the physical ranged archetype of rpgs). Melee Wizard or Monk is a tossup as it all depends on if they make the melee wizard viable in the final release. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be trying it out. Battlemage has always been my favorite archetype in an rpg going back to morrowind.

Take a look at the conjuration tree at the bottom. If the end tree looks even remotely like this one you will both have the survivability(images stoneskin) and the melee damage(this is taking into account that weapon stats will affect spectral blade damage). Should be good times.

I'll be playing HC from the start as well if it is available. As for classes, most likely the unannounced class first, then monk, then melee wizard. I doubt I'll play WD or barb as those aren't my cup-o-tea.

maybe it doesn't define diablo pvp as an abstract concept, but it sure as hell defines it in terms of gameplay. is there any serious PvP player out there that doesn't have teleport? as i see it, that's a serious flaw, it completely ruins the game, you see two people teleporting like there's no tomorrow and, after a bit, one decides to hit the other and it's mostly over. take teleport out of PvP and it might turn back into something approaching 'fun'.

Except it's not like that at all. Maybe to you, since you've never seriously pvp'd in diablo, but in reality it's completely different. As Vladdracul said, teleport does NOT define diablo pvp, it's just another tool that everyone gets because it is available to them. Why handicap yourself just because you think you're somehow better than using teleport? In the end, even without teleport, diablo pvp was and is still some of the most skilled fighting you can find in an rpg.

I won't comment on the SF/Tekken vs Diablo because I've never played them competitively, but when comparing CS 1.6 or CS Source(lol when I did : S without the space it made the smiley) to Diablo 2 pvp it is very very close skill wise.

Totally agree with this. One of the things I loved about Titan Quest was monsters dropped what they were using.

@Zoobi: none of those games is remotely comparable to diablo; they don't have MP and aren't loot-driven games. the only thing they have in common is being RPGs. i got bored of mass effect quite fast, yet i still play D2, often SP. explain that to me, then.

You're a different kind of player. All there is to it. That post was from MY perspective, not trying to determine other players playstyles. You're the kind of person who has to have a carrot on a stick(i.e. loot) to play a game over a long period of time.

I'm the kind of person who has to have a challenge to play a game over a long period of time before I get bored. Completely different playstyles for completely different people

Although I don't quite understand the point of playing single player past once or twice. So you can get better loot for killing.......monsters? I can see how some people may like it, but it's definately not for people with my mindset/playstyle.

Oh lol, umm... If you Make a character, and you think he is good, and you enter pvp late-game and get pwnt in the face, you go and see why.
When you figure out that its because the pve people have just played mind numbingly for weeks without sleep, you may have to do the same (grinding) to make a difference, making all aspects of the pvp stage boring.

Die continuously, or grind till your braindead to not die.

From what ive seen, pvp lovers like ballance in order for their skillz to make a difference in the tide of battle.

Totally untrue. A person that plays the pve side of diablo almost exclusively won't have the skill to beat a pure pvp player(meaning someone who doesn't search for perfect statted gear, but has some of top gear available). I enjoy the PvE when it's available in any game, but PvP is what keeps me playing for long periods of time in any game genre.

For example, I've played Bioshock 2, Dragon Age: Origins, and Mass Effect 2 in the last couple months. Obviously Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2 just came out recently. I played through DA:O twice, once good, once evil. I will likely do the same with Mass Effect 2. However, I will continue to play Bioshock 2 online because the multiplayer keeps the game fresh. You're always playing different people(especially since they don't have dedicated servers) and it's basically a new experience each time you play. Sure you play against people with the same weapons/loadouts, but varying skill keeps the game fresh.

Point of the story? For players with my mindset, you can only play through a games story so many times before you grow bored and move on to the next game. PvP helps extend a games longevity and I think Blizzard realizes this.

Especially since Blizzard is making the drops of the game not have astronomical chances to drop, tough to get still, but not nearly as tough as its predecessor.

You have to admit that insignificance in pvp can drive you to grind for the most effective items, making teh game boring?

I have no idea what you just said.

PvP definately. I like both, but PvP keeps me entertained for a long time. Can only AI monsters so many times before you get bored.

I don't think releasing two cinematic trailers for the 2 classes that don't have them is going to set back the development process too much. Just cool little snippets of lore and seeing how badass the classes are.

posted a message on Class Introductions
So the monk and the wizard both have class introduction trailers. I'm assuming the 5th class will have one when it's revealed. However, that leaves out the barbarian and the witch doctor for introduction trailers.

My question is, do you think that they will make trailers for the barbarian and the witch doctor? I'm assuming that because they were introduced when the game was revealed that it was an oversight on their part not to have a sort of cinematic trailer like they did with the monk and the wizard. If you believe they will make them for these 2 classes, what do you think the trailers will entail as far as the lore goes? For the wizard, she went deep into a tomb to fight a(I would assume) undead king. The monk is on a journey through the desert to rid it of evil and finds the cult and a demon under Belial's command.

Personally I think the barbarian's will somehow relate to the arreat crater and how he escaped from the worldstone's destruction.

The witch doctor's will be about his leaving of his tribe to venture out into the world to defeat the prime evils.

Just a little something I thought of after watching the monk/wizard cinematic trailers for the umpteenth time and remembering that the barbarian and the witch doctor didn't have them.
