Quote fromThey never said there wouldn't be PVP in D3. They just said the focus would on co-op. Man everyone has their ass cheeks in a pinch about the PvP deal. Honestly I think a lot of it has to do with greifers wanting to make sure they can kill people at portals.
Wait a sec... you misunderstand. "Organized" PvP in D1 and D2 was never acknowledged by Blizzard. Jay says in the video - they are taking more of a formal approach - meaning they will have look at each class now from a PvP perspective. Unlike D1 and D2, which was pretty much a PvP free for all and really had no sense of natural balance or a formal venue for it to take place.
Of course everyone is on edge about PvP - it's pretty much the sole reason everyone stuck around and played D2 for so long. That's why I did anyways. The fact that Jay actually said they are looking into it is a GOOD thing.

Let's be serious here... how often was this really ever a problem? 1 out of 20 games? 50 games?
Unless you're soloing all the time in public games? I fail to understand how anyone could possibly have a problem avoiding someone trying to kill them in D2. You quite possible would have to be brain dead.

It creates a more open ended gaming experience. I hate to use WoW as an example but playing on a PvP server leveling from 1-60 was one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I've had.

What about them? They can't join a clan. There's only 1000 of them out there,
Oh wait, add that to the list:
Join a Clan.

Yes it can. Got friends? You might want to look into that....
In fact when I played D2 I was in a private pvp clan that was close to 50 people strong. We had our own rules based on balance issues and went from there. You may have heard of GimmeItam on USWest?
I never played in public games. EVER. Always with friends. Always in private games.

I think it adds a human element to the game, it actually feels more dangerous. That's the risk you run from making public games.
If it's that much of an inconvenience to use the helpful built in features of the game you're never going to see the other side of the argument.

I want to play with players at my level. I want to play in private games. I want to keep people I don't know out of my games. That's what those features are for first and foremost.
As an added bonus they work pretty good against PK prevention.
Learn to use them, you're gaming experience will be 100 times better.

So play with friends? So place a level restriction on the game you're in? Is one player near your level really going to take out your whole group? How do they even know where you are exactly when they can't see your location? In D2 you have every advantage over people trying to kill you.
And if you need a baby sitter 24/7 from getting "pked" when there's tons of ways to avoid being killed then you should go back to playing single player.
I hope to god the make a separate realm for you guys.

Private games
Level restrictions
Make a town portal, head to town
Leave the game
Why this even an issue with some people is beyond me.
EDIT: Also for the record I was never PKed in D2.

This is not a problem because the same thing, relatively, is happening to items of equal value. However if the whole entire D2 economy was based on one item, say a SOJ for example - you would see inflation - which is exactly what happened.
Really the problem here is finding was to A: Keep hacked/duped at items out of the game B: creating enough variety with skills, builds and classes where items hold a constant value.

Let me spell it out for you:
The root of the problem always has and always will be duped items.

If you really played Diablo 2 over B.net then you know the economy sucked because of the myriad of duped items everyone had.
