Quote fromThey never said there wouldn't be PVP in D3. They just said the focus would on co-op. Man everyone has their ass cheeks in a pinch about the PvP deal. Honestly I think a lot of it has to do with greifers wanting to make sure they can kill people at portals.
Wait a sec... you misunderstand. "Organized" PvP in D1 and D2 was never acknowledged by Blizzard. Jay says in the video - they are taking more of a formal approach - meaning they will have look at each class now from a PvP perspective. Unlike D1 and D2, which was pretty much a PvP free for all and really had no sense of natural balance or a formal venue for it to take place.
Of course everyone is on edge about PvP - it's pretty much the sole reason everyone stuck around and played D2 for so long. That's why I did anyways. The fact that Jay actually said they are looking into it is a GOOD thing.

whoa you actually have friends now? cool. maybe you should ask them to come play D2 with you so they can protect you from all the big bad pks running around ruining every game

yes, im talking in terms of a wow pvp server though (where u can actually go kill a low level player in a neutral zone). you can always "pvp" in arenas on a pve server.
people play on pvp servers because they like the option of open ended world pvp.
0
THEY PLAY ON PVP SERVERS BECAUSE THEY LIKE PVP

PK and Griefing happens on WoW pvp servers all the time. The 2 million players who play on those realms seem fine with that.

40/60, 45/55. Okay - if you want to be technical. Sure.
WoW numbers show us that the PvP community is alive and well. Having things like PK, PvP and Griefing is good for business. We're talking about millions of potential sales based on that alone. PvP and PK will be in D3.
I'll shoot myself in the foot when D3 comes out and I'm proven wrong.

That's why when you were killed by another player your ear dropped? Okay sure what ever you say. I guess the hostile button never really was mean't for PvP huh????

Some community manager says he doesn't like griefers so everyone should assume PK is out in D3? Right... I wouldn't put my money on that.
You act like using the custom game features is some kind of huge burden on cooperative play. I got a HUGE news flash for you. It actually helps cooperative play. Why?
Here's a two major reasons for you:
Private games with friends
Level restrictions keep unwanted high level players out.
It's nice not being stuck having to join public games all the time. I can actually group with my friends and avoid unwanted hostile players? WOW HOLY CRAP WHAT A CONCEPT. WOW HUGE BURDEN HERE!!!!!!!!!!!
LOOK: Want some real numbers?

Look at all the people who play on WoW PVP realms. It's close to 50/50. Fact is: People who want PK totally out of the game are an annoying vocal minority and nothing more. Move along.
Good night.

That's why Blizzard makes the best games. Both sides still have options.
PK was completely preventable in D2 (bugs/hacks excluded)
WoW had PvE and PvP servers.
If that past is any indication of what D3 will hold, I'd sack up and stop crying about it already.

How is my logic flawed? RPGs are based on choices. A PK chooses to go hostile. You, player have any number of tools at your disposal to deal with the threat. Regardless of gear, level, skill.
That's what what made D2 awesome and that's what made WoW awesome. Blizzard would have done away with any sort of "PKing" a long time ago if they didn't think it fit into there version of what an "RPG" is

Learn to play. 6-7 people could easily kill a hammerdin.

I personally FULLY support that PK still be in D3 because at the end of the day Diablo is supposed to be a role playing game. Players should be able to chose how they play the game and not be forced into rule sets based on how certain portions of the population feel. That's the true essence of what an RPG is supposed to be.

There is no solution to the problem. People want both. You have to find a middle ground.

It adds the most important thing that any game can ever have:
Skill
0
make game
set level restriction to 5 levels
...
what's the problem?

"I definitely remember running with my friends, and someone toggles it, and bam everyone is dead and your one friend is laughing. Ok, ok, good joke I guess, and then you run back and *bam*, you've toggled it to get them back. After a while everyone usually agrees to a truce because it's just a waste of time. But I also remember running with random players and losing extremely nice items because of it?"
What the hell is he talking about? His friends going hostile for fun? Losing items? Toggling hostile randomly in a group of friends? YEAAAA OKAYYYY. This guy has no clue what-so-ever. He sounds like he never even played D2 - which the hostile system was far superior.
I also don't know how much more cooperative you can get with a game like D2 or D3. You join a party. You go kill. I see lots of room for improvement there!!!! NOT!!!!
