Quote fromThey never said there wouldn't be PVP in D3. They just said the focus would on co-op. Man everyone has their ass cheeks in a pinch about the PvP deal. Honestly I think a lot of it has to do with greifers wanting to make sure they can kill people at portals.
Wait a sec... you misunderstand. "Organized" PvP in D1 and D2 was never acknowledged by Blizzard. Jay says in the video - they are taking more of a formal approach - meaning they will have look at each class now from a PvP perspective. Unlike D1 and D2, which was pretty much a PvP free for all and really had no sense of natural balance or a formal venue for it to take place.
Of course everyone is on edge about PvP - it's pretty much the sole reason everyone stuck around and played D2 for so long. That's why I did anyways. The fact that Jay actually said they are looking into it is a GOOD thing.

I think you're taking it to the extreme here. The whole of Act3 in D2 is contradictory to what you are saying. It's absolutely plausible to introduce a class like the which doctor to the story line.

it's too early to say what role they will play really

They did. The class is called the Which Doctor

hopefully it shows a larger version when you mouse over it or something... i'd gladly take more room in my inventory over cool art

Which Doctors practice:
Necromancy
therefore they are:
Necromancers
I don't think you can really apply the old lore to new lore in this case. Considering what we know so far, I don't think Blizzard is ultimately concerned with "old" Diablo lore. This is a new game with new concepts and story lines.

unless they totally revamp the necro i don't know how you can honestly consider having a nerco class, as we know it currently, and a which doctor in the same game. it would be a waste of everyones time. the fans boys are just going to have to suck it up on this one.
the witch doctor is actually a necromancer!

Assassin/ranger mix - Think d2 assassin, meets d1 rouge.
Wizard - summoning demons and using more arcane types of magic.
Holy/Dark Knight - think paladin meets nerco - can choose between holy spells or unholy spells (think bone spells, direct damage, no summons) but still has a primary melee focus with auras
