posted a message on 1.13 Assassin
The new 1.13 character specific posts makes me LAUGH so hard it just made me decide I will never play Diablo 2 ever again!

I know it's always been like that, and changing this could have being a pretty hard job of game redesign. But the news content just perfectly shows how Diablo 2 is a poor design game. Blizzard decision to remove Stats point attribution is a blessing, annyone who could have complained about it should look at the 3 last news on diablofans.com.

How can a Barb/Amazon/Necromancer/Sorc/Assassin, or anything you could think of require the EXACT same stats attribution? Why is there a stats assignment button for Energy? Do someone really put points there? I mean, of course not, but... why? Why is Energy so bad? Why didn't blizzard add some side bonuses from Energy rather than plain mana.

When looking back at Diablo 2, if the game was coming out today, it would receive the worst game of the year award. lol

posted a message on Brainstorm : RUNES
    1. I would love to have some runes that add a certain element to the spell, not just duplicate it, make it homing, stuff like on a fireball, there is a corpse explosion rune, if you kill the target with the fireball, the body explodes and hit the other mobs. Etc..

    2. D3 could benefit from some rarity in runes. Like Lesser nd greater ones. lesser being a little boost that as no real personality (very ez to design) and greater (rarer) ones that change the spells nearly completly like the duplicate, like homing etc.. These would be rare (around 10) but would be kind of rare, lessers would be as easy as gems from d2 to get.

    3. No, that is the main point of runes, they are supposed to be a way to customize a spell, a modifier, it's not a winning combination system.

    4. Passive skills should need any kind of runes. So no, some spells are just not designed to have any customization. Only a few would logicly work, and that refers to #3. If you can't use them all, use none.

    5. 1 in each skills, but a way to add new rune socket could be a cool design.

    6. Some, i hope so.

    7. Destroy the lesser ones, preserve the greater ones.

    8. Nah, would definatly force people to stack 1 type.

    9. I think Blizzard already named some already with characterizing name.

    10. i think it's a very great way to make a spell look different and be used differently over the time. As a old D2 player, i was, kind of bored of the Whirlwind or any other classic skills like that, frozen orb.. If we could sightly change their mechanics or visual by just adding random runes, it has to be great.

posted a message on [Blizzard] Who has only used one B-net Key, and haven't been banned yet??
I rly hope Blizzard can keep any kind of hack out of Bnet. I know this is fairly impossible, but at least, act fast and ban accounts. This should be interesting though, with the new battle.net accounts. If you hack, you are banned, so you need to buy a new game to play again, that SHOULD make hacks a bit less popular, hope so.

posted a message on What Would Make PvP Better?
Blizzard have a serious job to do to make the pvp a very strong, balanced and organised PVP. Few reasons.

    1. Diablo isn't about PVP, at least as its core feature, so the game design needs to be very open to make PVP a viable competitive mode. Which was not in Diablo / Diablo 2. At least for PVP games, I am not talking about PKing.

    2. Another issue that the developper will probably face is that, unlike most pvp games, shooters ? la Unreal, RTS ? la StarCraft or other RPG and MMO like WoW and warhammer, players' characters hit VERY hard. In fact, they hit so hard they can kill another player in 1 or 2 hit. That makes the pvp very limited into any kind of gameplay skills. In another way, it makes the pvp a very fast paced game, and tend to promote pre-game strategies over thinking while you fight.

But, if blizzard wants to bring PVP to a certain degre where we could see real esport competition like we recently saw with WoW and some other rpgs. Blizzard will have to think of their game balance with the PVP in mind. The solution could be easy, make the monster hit stronger and boost player's hp or make the player hit less and lower the monsters hp, if of course Blizzard wants diablo 3 pvp to be a bit slower.

The best thing about this game is the modding possiblity, they already said this is a kind of testing game. They plan to make it a MMO. But as soon as I finish playing the game with the Vanquisher.

I will run into the Modding part and make Diablo 3 classes and bosses, oh yeah!

posted a message on Boss Farming Idea
    The real question would be:

Will bosses be the best farming spots in Diablo 3? Or will there be random very high level dungeons where you can always get better items scaled with your level. So players would simply stop farming Diablo in Hell because there is just better random heroes stalking somewhere that has a higher level and a higher treasure class.

I would personaly appreciate some kind of scaling random dungeons. That even after killing Diablo or any end boss in Hell, there is still very hard challenge for you to accomplish, a bit like the uber demons from Diablo 2, but a bit more "realistic"...

let's say you are level 50, you go in a hidden random dungeon level 50, unique monsters drop level 40 items. Then, you are level 80, you go in another hidden random dungeon, there are level 80 monsters, they drop level 75 items. This way, people never... get too powerful.

In diablo 2, you reach level 70, you are pretty much done in pve. You can level up till 99, but you won't face too much challenge anymore.

With the scaling dungeons, even level 99, there is still a challenge, monsters are level 99, they drop level 99 items etc..

    Quote from "dorgeismydog" »
Im talking about on weapons, steal hp/mp % by hit. That is something I dotnt hink theyll be doing away with. And yea, personally I do think that enemies have mana, and using so much should exhasut skills, it works fine on other games, but the counter to that, which is still easy, giving all enemies some type of physical attack.

And as for bosses? There BOSSES for a reason, why cant a bamf have bamf mana regain? Thats the simple, perfect solution to bosses, and even so, ESPECIALLY bosses have ALWAYS hade physical and magical abilities. Andariel. Tal Rasha. Mephisto. Diablo. Baal. You really cant make a great boss without the perfect physical and magical attack combination

Monsters/bosses never had Mana in Diablo 2. The mana stealing is just a fake, you gain mana from your damage, not the mana pool of the monster. Or a monster would difinatly run out of mana after a while, when everybody knows it doesn't happen. Blizzard never implemented this, it's not even a hidden math. THEY DONT HAVE ANY MANA. So you whole point is biased.

Also, for mana stealing, it's a good thing some character has different energy types. Like a certain class that don't use "mana", he couldn't get the benefit from mana stolen % bonus because it would be overpowered (theory) that brings a better diversity in the classes.

    Quote from "3CXOD" »
Umm.. are you talking about damage converted to mana?

Either way they will need to think of something because there are enemies in Diablo that have mana steal abilities. I guess they will probably end up cutting out mana steal abilities from enemies?

Mana steal from monsters doesn't benefit the monster, it's just a different way to give the player a challenge, making the spell casters have a hard time. It's the same as Stamina steal. Monsters don't have stamina either.

    Monster has:
    Fixed HP
    Fixed Damage
    Fixed Speed
Occasionnaly, spells, that deal a Fixed amount of Damage and that a FREE of use, so they can use it for 3 years, just test it out on a Fallen Shaman with a lvl 90+ After an hour, the monster will keep spaming is Fireball and revives. They don't have mana, and the spells don't cost any mana.

posted a message on Inactive character deletion??
its not limited to 1 class per account. But I remember hearing that the new battle.net account system would help Blizzard maintain a certain balance with the number of characters each player has, giving these account the opportunities to keep their characters for **ever**. Like WoW yes

    Quote from "wariord" »
No, the game will not have any DX10 or DX11 features. Its all DX9. Honestly, don't expect blizzard games to even have optional DX10++ features for at least 4 more years. And don't expect blizzard games to be DX10 minimum for at least 8 years. Blizzard always tries to make their games work on a large range of systems. D3 will look pretty good and all, but for 2011, the game will have fairly old looking graphics to what will be available at the time.

As for the tons of people asking what system they need to run this on high... you DONT need a core i7 with a gtx 295 and 20 gigs of ram and so on.

An average dual core paired with an nvidia 8800 series or ati HD 4000 series will run this game on high no problem. You wont run it on 3 monitors at some insane 5000x2000 resulution... but you get the point. Wonder what eyefinity with an HD5870 would look like... ha.

8 more years? you push a little... It only took 2 yours to go from Dx3 to 6, then around 4 years to go from 6 to 8.

Now it's 9, but seriously, the next gen-mmo blizzard is working on will probably take advantage of the next directx.

DirectX10.1 don't have alot to deal with, more optimized shaders, shader model 4. This "CAN" bring some cool stuff, but as we could see, it didn't turn out too well even in Directx 10 games like Crysis where DirectX10 brang more problems than enhancements.

DirectX11 tho brings some cool stuff that existed in the pass that we can see on Xbox360 and PS3. Tesselation (very awesome to see, google it), Multi-threading features, post-fx like depth of field/lighting effects, standarization for better shadows, raytracing, etc..

surpisingly enough, I just made a assassin like 2 hours ago. That was my first assassin too (i played my friend's assassin back in 1.09 but never made one). I did act 1 and figured out i didn't want to play the game all over again, so I downloaded a hero editor, and put myself lvl 95, equiped her with the best 1.09 gear (no $%/ed up "ruin" words) and made a martial build, this was awesome, dealing 12 000k on 3rd charge, was fun, for.... 10 mins.

USA and North America? First time I hear USA isn't in North America..

They should do : French America (woot), English America, Spanish America, etc..

Baishok said that they are currently using Dx9.

still, things can change. It's nothing to upgrade from an API version to another to use new features as options.

But as far as I know about DirectX10, 10.1 and 11. What could Blizzard find so interesting in these APIs to support/require them?
