We definitely don't know enough on this topic at this point to be able to judge it. Let's say you need a specific skill, well maybe a class specific item that gives you + to that skill will be all that you need. Plus if the mercs are going to more elaborated then maybe you can use one to counter the weaknesses of your build.
It's hard to wait, but we really need more info on what they're planning for the new skill system.

Sep 6, 2008Never thought the UI inventory in the past Diablos were that awesome. I think they weren't creepy enough and they were too bland. The new one got that gothic feel to it, so in a way it should feel even more diabloish.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Sep 6, 2008Yeah that's what Ureh is there for. It already has been said by Leonard and Bashiok that we wouldn't see Skovos in D3 but that the Artwork was to build a background for Sanctuary. It's probably the background for a new class or as some might want to believe a future MMO.Posted in: News & Announcements
Sep 5, 2008Posted in: News & AnnouncementsQuote from "hcjr1" »seems that they'll give us a rpg full of action, viceral action, but this time with a deep story, like a good rpg must be, be prepared to see somethig bigger than final fantasy, or god of war,or the previews diablos, or whatever you've seen about envolving game story:thumbsup:
$%#$ where can I buy this game now!?!... oh wait nvm :rolleyes:
It's an obvious improvement from the previous games, but I'm still glad to hear they're going to do it. When you look at SC or even WC you can easily find memorable protagonists from the story (like Zeratul, Kerrigan, Arthas, Malfurion, etc.), but looking at Diablo the only thing you find are antagonists or NPCs (The Butcher, Lazarus, Tyrael, Diablo, etc.). Sure we remember all of the classes' from both games, but we like never got to actually know them, like who are they in the first place, what's their past and why are they doing this. I think it's about time they give the main classes a personality of their own.
Sep 5, 2008Where's the Oblivion Knight? Okay they weren't that cool in D2, but in D1 they were really scary evil looking :evil:.Posted in: News & Announcements
And what about the Souls, who hasn't at least been killed once by a barrage of lightning coming at you from nowhere and then one of those ghastly being popped out of thin air.
Certainly both of them are more memorable than the Blunderbore and the Blood Lord (even though they were pretty cool too).
Sep 4, 2008Think about itPosted in: Unannounced Class
Diablo 1 -> Diablo 2
rogue -> act1 rogue
Warrior-> act2 mercenary/act 5 barb
Sorcerer-> act3 Iron Wolf
I have the feeling that we're going to see some D2 classes return as mercs, I can already see the pal and the necro come back.
Sep 4, 2008Some people just have to die sometime you know. They already got problems living 50 years without being eating out from the inside by boredom and all that weird stuff they repressed as a child. I mean when you've been doing the same things for a longtime it just gets boring after a while, and more than often people don't come up with a very big imagination so yeah life is boring... If tomorrow science invents a new way to enable the average Joe to live for the next 5000 years I predict that not even 1/4th of them would make it throught the first 1000 years, they'll just kill themselves after a while.Posted in: General Discussion (non-Diablo)
Me, I'm different. I'm a man of science backed up with one crazy imagination, I just don't know when to stop. Here's a little secret, the only way to truly live forever is to die a couple of times along the way. The tricky part is that you have to find your way back into the game everytime, just like Diablo :P.
Sep 4, 2008Posted in: News & AnnouncementsQuote from "Robiwan" »thats why i posted what i posted... so we all agree alaskanfire?
yes we know marius is kaput... my point is, he was so frail and dumb and stupid and weak, do you think his history might be revealed a little in D3... WHY HE GOT THE DREAMS? remember? he always had the dreams. Even before he met the wanderer.
What made him so special?
Marius is just one of Diablo's back up guy. You know the guy who do all the important stuff while Diablo's busy fighting Tyrael or something. I'm sure he got others, like that other guy Juris Khan, since he wasn't killed in Kingdom of Shadow I think we should be hearing about him soon. Diablo needs a way to come back on Sanctuary after all, but again that's another story...:evil:
Sep 4, 2008You know what they say, the bigger the merrier.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Well maybe New Tristram and its surrounding towns are going to be small, but looking at the concept arts of Caldeum, looks like it's going to be one huge city. Maybe they'll even have to put waypoints in the city to allow you to go from place to another.
Ureh too seems to be a huge city, but that's another story...:evil:
Sep 4, 2008This has been discussed plenty of times before, but looking at Blizz penchant for ridiculously big shoulders I think those "heads" are just in fact part of Diablo's shoulders and they have mouths just to make him look more creepy.Posted in: Lore & Storyline
As for the Triurn returning, I think there might be some twist to it. Like instead of worshiping the three prime evils maybe they worship Azmodan and the 7 deadly sins. I'm saying this because of that demon the Thousand Pounder who has the title of Gluttony Incarnate which suppose that we'll probably fight the other ones before finally fighting Azmodan.
Sep 4, 2008Posted in: News & AnnouncementsQuote from "necronergal" »OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! nobody noticed this????? how can you not. its the first thing i noticed.
so the horadrim was established in 897. ok that is ok to me.
mephisto soulstone under kurast area in 902. ok sounds reasonable.
diablo captured and horadric monastary built. 918. ok
and im skipping the rest cause it mostly gameplay.
baal defeted in mount arreat and worldstone destroyed.....!!!!! 1265!!!!!!
ok this makes me think. horadrim. only surviving horadrim. dekard cain. now we dont know how old he joined horadrim(i think) but we know he was with the capture of the prime evils.
which would mean 902-1265 he has been alive. WTF.
this guy is over 200 years old???????????????
begin discusion of this old geazzer now.....
I think I understand what your trying to say, but Jered Cain is Cain's grand father or something like that, so there's no problem here.
Sep 4, 2008Cool update, Skovos apparently isn't a location we'll go to in D3 but it serves as a background from one of the new classes...Posted in: News & Announcements
There's a strange mage looking guy standing on a rock in the second artwork. Strange, maybe he's conjuring that sandstorm or whatever it is.

Jul 19, 2008Anyone noticed that Ureh is just next to Caldeum, that's pretty suspicious.Posted in: News
Also does this look like a ruined city to you?
Jul 18, 2008There's a lot of interesting theories going on around here.Posted in: News
This may be unrelated, but I remember during the WWI that they said something about the Race from which the Rogues originated and I thought it was related to this city for some reason I can't remember.
Diablo III - World Lore and Environment Art Panel
Leonard Boyarsky - Lead World Designer of Diablo III began the discussion panel for the
Diablo III World Lore and Environment Art Panel. Skovos and Caldeum are some of the zones to
be explored in Diablo III. Skovos is an ancient city where the rogues come from.
- Richer History and Deeper characters: NPCs will say where they come from to make it feel
like you are playing in a living world to reflect their culture and philosophies. Caldeum
population have a eastern kind of look.
EDIT: I just check the map and Skovos is actually one of the Amazon Island, is it possible that the Rogues actually came from the Amazon?
Can't wait to go the Amazon Island
Jul 11, 2008What's the difference between getting a big lot high runes/sojs/godly items and getting a big pot of gold?Posted in: News
To get a lot of good items you need to do a lot of runs, hoping that someday a monster will drop something. But what usually happens is that you only get crappy items. Then what you do is wait for someone to make a game asking for this item and try to charge him the big price for it to screw him over. Like the other day I tradded a fal for two facets + some crap and then a couple of days later I found someone who tradded one of the facet for 1 hr.
To get a lot of gold, what you need to do is to kill a lot of monsters. It could take forever but as long as you're killing stuff you'll get there eventually piece by piece if you must.
So what's the difference? With D2 tradding system you had to spend a lot of time trying to trad crap for good stuff, while if gold would be more important you could get good items directly by tradding gold instead of trying to trade sh#t all the time.
Jul 5, 2008Posted in: NewsQuote from "paikdoosan" »Why would Diablo III be more WOWish if they made a Paladin. Diablo already had a Paladin originally and WOW got it from Diablo.
That's weird, I didn't play much to it but as far as I know Warcraft II had paladins first before Diablo 2 came out...
Imao Paladins don't belong in D3 and certainly not as he was in D2, we need something new and fresh.
Quote from "Sly_dawg19" »4.Rouge
And heres why: This one is completely obvious, DUH. There will be an Amazon type character, Rouge fits male and female, it can encompass all aspects of fighting. This is a no brainer.
Rogues are like Amazons, there's no such thing as a male Rogue...
Jul 4, 2008Lol, I made the exact same thread yesterday.Posted in: News
Anyway, as long as the classes are more unique and there's more class specific quests and interactions with NPCs, I'm in.
Just can't wait to know what the other 3 classes are.
Jun 23, 2008Posted in: NewsQuote from "tRaDiNgYo" »That would mean the teaser would be for another expansion...
You must have spend too much time in Mephisto's Jungle, the fever has gotten you now.
Diablo 2 Salvation died years ago.
Jun 23, 2008Lol, you dig up the old SC2 countdown thread, Good one Magistrate.Posted in: News
For some reason Mockery haven't posted anything yet. Weird that he would post something about a SC2 countdown but nothing about the current countdown.
I just found another hidden message in that new picture.
Cool off guys, soon enough you're going to feel the cold chill of Terror...;)
