Maybe they'll update the bestiary or Cain's Journal.

Weird, I think I've just heard a fallen yelling Rakanishu!... or maybe is it just the wind?

posted a message on An idea for the mage. archetype.
I gave some thoughts about an Asian Mage class a while ago. His skill trees were Offensive Spells, Support Magic and Traps.

Here are some random thoughts on the subject

Offensive would basically be different spells coming from various elements. Since no one ever uses skills like Fire Bolt, I think it could be a good idea to combine them with more powerful skills to make a single skill. Like at level 1-x it's just a Fire Bolt, from level x-y it would become a Fire Ball and then when the skill gets at level y the Fire Ball would become a ball of magma. This way you can put more different offensive spells in a single tree than the Sorceress had for all 3 schools of magic.

Support regroups all the buff a Mage needs to fight enemies. Skills like Mana Shield, Warmth, Frozen Shield, ect. Since the role of potions has been severly demoted, maybe the new Mage class could get a Charge spell that can be cast quickly to recover some mana. It wouldn't be overpowered because even if it's an instant cast it would still cost you precious time giving enemies the time they need to get you.

Traps would be an occasion to really combine Arcane Magic with the new environment system in a unique way. Like you could put spells on destructible objects to make them detonate after a certain time, or you could trap a door so that when enemies open it they would get blasted. You could put runes on the floor that when enemies step on them would create explosion of ice and lightning.

Traps may seem to overlap with Offensive, but I think of it more of a way to stun and slow down enemies. Like you could chose to be purely Offensive and deal massive damage but take the risk of being overrun by enemies or mix up Support and Traps to help you out. You can still use only traps if you want, but it would take you just a little bit longer to kill monsters and maybe it could focuse on different elemental magic (like Poison and Arcane instead of Fire/Lightning/Ice).

Again it's just some random thoughts

PS:"Another obvious move" < you seem to know everything lol. Give us next moves ;]

    :D

Very well, I predict that in a near future you will be able to make town portals only while being out of combat. I Never understood why the monsters didn't follow you back to town lol.

Another obvious move but it's always good to hear that Blizz knows what they're doing.

I still hope there's going to be locked doors and chests but only quest related, so that you have to go explore other areas of the dungeon and kill more monsters to find the key.

I think it's possible that mana/health leech comes back but maybe through a skill and it will also be severly nerfed (so you won't get all your life back in one hit).

Now that I think about it Locust Swarm shouldn't deal poison damage. Locust aren't venomous, they just bite off the flesh, so technically shouldn't it be dealing physical damage?

posted a message on Arcane Damage
I notice this a long time ago, you can see it more clearly in the skill trailer when he uses Mass Confuse and finish off the skeletons with his wand. It looks like some sort of liquid is coming out of the corpses which is weird coming from a weapon dealing arcane damage. On the WD class page you can see some sort of purple aura coming out of him so we can guess he's going to have some arcane base skills (like the Necro).

posted a message on Skovos not accessible in Diablo III
With Ureh and Zayl present in the game, it's pratically guaranteed that we'll see an Underground Necromancer city.

Jay said that there would be more than one town per act and that we would get to have some nice surprise and seeing that Caldeum is pretty close to Ureh...

posted a message on Have Better Drops at Randomly Generated Scripted Events
I think a more convenient solution would be to make monsters and bosses drop different type of items or uniques and avoid all purpose runs like Baal run in Hell. For example if you want unique item A or some type of gem you would have to kill monsters in some specific areas and if you want unique item B some set items, etc you would have to kill some boss in another area. Making each area dropping their own kind of good items would push the player at exploring the world and not just going in some dungeon teleing to a boss before killing him and starting a new game.

Items you get from quests and scripted events should be different in their own way too.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Outdoors are not Random Generated
Another thought on static environment. What did people do in most outdoor areas? They skim the edge of the maps until they found that little passage that leads to the next zone (maiinly true for act 1, 2 and 4). As for the other acts, well they all go in straight line anyway. Looks like randomness of graphics never brought that much to Diablo in most outdoor areas after all. Of course for those who still don't get it chests and enemies are still random along with quests and possibly NPCs.

    Originaly posted by me:

Anyway from what I gathered from this video, Skovos is an Island where a secluded society known as the Iskari lives (not sure of spelling). This society was apparently built by an Angel and her lover who is actually human and they are also the ancestors of both the Rogues and the Amazon.

Come on just a month and a couple of days before Blizzcon

posted a message on Diablo 3 Outdoors are not Random Generated
Again this is old news but it doesn't really have a bad side since enemies are still random (as seen from the screenshots) and combined with the new random adventures players still have a unique experience everytime they play outside. As it has been said before it's just to make the outside look more solid and believable.

Also in case some of you don't remember D2 had its share of static areas (e.g. Catacomb lvl4, Durance of hate lvl3, Chaos Sanctuary, Mount Arreat Summit, etc.) and nobody ever gave a mind about the fact it wasn't random.
