Maybe they'll update the bestiary or Cain's Journal.
Weird, I think I've just heard a fallen yelling Rakanishu!... or maybe is it just the wind?

Sep 16, 2008I gave some thoughts about an Asian Mage class a while ago. His skill trees were Offensive Spells, Support Magic and Traps.Posted in: Unannounced Class
Here are some random thoughts on the subject
Offensive would basically be different spells coming from various elements. Since no one ever uses skills like Fire Bolt, I think it could be a good idea to combine them with more powerful skills to make a single skill. Like at level 1-x it's just a Fire Bolt, from level x-y it would become a Fire Ball and then when the skill gets at level y the Fire Ball would become a ball of magma. This way you can put more different offensive spells in a single tree than the Sorceress had for all 3 schools of magic.
Support regroups all the buff a Mage needs to fight enemies. Skills like Mana Shield, Warmth, Frozen Shield, ect. Since the role of potions has been severly demoted, maybe the new Mage class could get a Charge spell that can be cast quickly to recover some mana. It wouldn't be overpowered because even if it's an instant cast it would still cost you precious time giving enemies the time they need to get you.
Traps would be an occasion to really combine Arcane Magic with the new environment system in a unique way. Like you could put spells on destructible objects to make them detonate after a certain time, or you could trap a door so that when enemies open it they would get blasted. You could put runes on the floor that when enemies step on them would create explosion of ice and lightning.
Traps may seem to overlap with Offensive, but I think of it more of a way to stun and slow down enemies. Like you could chose to be purely Offensive and deal massive damage but take the risk of being overrun by enemies or mix up Support and Traps to help you out. You can still use only traps if you want, but it would take you just a little bit longer to kill monsters and maybe it could focuse on different elemental magic (like Poison and Arcane instead of Fire/Lightning/Ice).
Again it's just some random thoughts
Sep 13, 2008Posted in: News & AnnouncementsQuote from "Kwic" »PS:"Another obvious move" < you seem to know everything lol. Give us next moves ;]
Very well, I predict that in a near future you will be able to make town portals only while being out of combat. I Never understood why the monsters didn't follow you back to town lol.
Sep 13, 2008Another obvious move but it's always good to hear that Blizz knows what they're doing.Posted in: News & Announcements
I still hope there's going to be locked doors and chests but only quest related, so that you have to go explore other areas of the dungeon and kill more monsters to find the key.
Sep 7, 2008Veltras posted a message on New character class to be revealed at BlizzCon 08.Diablo is a dish best served cold MwuhahahaPosted in: Unannounced Class
We're in for some serious long waiting
Sep 7, 2008I notice this a long time ago, you can see it more clearly in the skill trailer when he uses Mass Confuse and finish off the skeletons with his wand. It looks like some sort of liquid is coming out of the corpses which is weird coming from a weapon dealing arcane damage. On the WD class page you can see some sort of purple aura coming out of him so we can guess he's going to have some arcane base skills (like the Necro).Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Sep 6, 2008With Ureh and Zayl present in the game, it's pratically guaranteed that we'll see an Underground Necromancer city.Posted in: News & Announcements
Jay said that there would be more than one town per act and that we would get to have some nice surprise and seeing that Caldeum is pretty close to Ureh...
Sep 6, 2008Veltras posted a message on Have Better Drops at Randomly Generated Scripted EventsI think a more convenient solution would be to make monsters and bosses drop different type of items or uniques and avoid all purpose runs like Baal run in Hell. For example if you want unique item A or some type of gem you would have to kill monsters in some specific areas and if you want unique item B some set items, etc you would have to kill some boss in another area. Making each area dropping their own kind of good items would push the player at exploring the world and not just going in some dungeon teleing to a boss before killing him and starting a new game.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Items you get from quests and scripted events should be different in their own way too.
Sep 6, 2008Another thought on static environment. What did people do in most outdoor areas? They skim the edge of the maps until they found that little passage that leads to the next zone (maiinly true for act 1, 2 and 4). As for the other acts, well they all go in straight line anyway. Looks like randomness of graphics never brought that much to Diablo in most outdoor areas after all. Of course for those who still don't get it chests and enemies are still random along with quests and possibly NPCs.Posted in: News & Announcements
Sep 6, 2008Posted in: News & AnnouncementsOriginaly posted by me:
Anyway from what I gathered from this video, Skovos is an Island where a secluded society known as the Iskari lives (not sure of spelling). This society was apparently built by an Angel and her lover who is actually human and they are also the ancestors of both the Rogues and the Amazon.
Come on just a month and a couple of days before Blizzcon
Sep 6, 2008Again this is old news but it doesn't really have a bad side since enemies are still random (as seen from the screenshots) and combined with the new random adventures players still have a unique experience everytime they play outside. As it has been said before it's just to make the outside look more solid and believable.Posted in: News & Announcements
Also in case some of you don't remember D2 had its share of static areas (e.g. Catacomb lvl4, Durance of hate lvl3, Chaos Sanctuary, Mount Arreat Summit, etc.) and nobody ever gave a mind about the fact it wasn't random.

Aug 21, 2008Posted in: NewsQuote from ".KILLING-HAZARD." »good luck to every1 ... i will try my best
EDIT::: nvm i cant do it, dont have a blizzard account...silly me...
you can create one here
EDIT: I think you need to choose a Blizzard site first to get started
Aug 18, 2008I agree with Roper, people on the forums are complaining just because well that's what a lot of people on the forums do, and they chose the art direction because it's a cheesy topic to discuss.Posted in: News
Blizzard North did a kickass job, but all they did was merely introducing the franchise. Truly Diablo III is going to be greater than I and II put together
Aug 16, 2008Veltras posted a message on MTV - ‘Diablo III’ Designer Describes How Game Will Appeal To ‘Diablo’ Fans And BroadYeah but you need to actually kill monsters to get health globes, so if there's no monster then no health globes, oh and potions are still in game so it still an option.Posted in: News
Besides I think there could be easily a lot of improvement for pvp, specific place to fight like arenas, options like activating/deactivating items, etc.
Aug 15, 2008Posted in: NewsQuote from "Archie" »I know Inarius was imprisoned and all that, but who says that an Angel can't regrow their wings? How can an Angel, made of sound and light, have skin? I still think that we will see Inarius in some way, shape or form in D3. I actually think we will have an appearance by most Angels, Imperius, Inarius, Auriel, Malthael, Tyrael, Itherael, and possibly even Izual.
Yeah, that text about Inarius being imprisoned is old. Blizzard has refined the lore surrounding angels since then, they're not just humans with bird like wings like we usually see.
About Ureh, it's been a long time since I read Kingdom of Shadows but from what I can remember Zayl and Dumon destroyed the two stones allowing it to stay in the mortal realm and killed the king who was possessed by Diablo. So what's going to bring it back then and what does it have to do with that fiery angel. Come to think about it, maybe Diablo still has some ties in Ureh and this is where his essence will gather allowing him to reincarnate himself.
Aug 14, 2008Posted in: NewsQuote from "Medievaldragon" »What attacked them was some kind of feline-humanoid. They killed it.
Whoa, it has been some time since I read that book. I ordered Archive a month ago at my local bookstore and it still hasn't arrived, what a rip.
Aug 14, 2008You know what? I think all these artworks has something to do with Ureh.Posted in: News
In Kingdom of Shadows King Juris Khan received the visit of an Angel (forgot the name) in his dream which was actually Diablo in disguise. Has the fiery angel anything to do with this?
The Angel on the artwork looks quite demonic, could it be Inarius (Tyrael's Brother). People often theorized that Tyrael got corrupted, but if there is going to be one corrupted angel I think Inarius would fill that role more easily as he's been imprisonned in Hell for over 3000 years.
Lastly, as for the four-legged beast, I think it could actually be that demon that attacked Captain Dumon and his men at the beginning of the book. Maybe he will be an actual monster we fight inside the city.
Aug 12, 2008So nothing really new except that it cost them a lot of efforts to create 5 extra charactersPosted in: News
Still here's another unanswered question:
Since every classes is now a specific character with a specific personality, will it change the way you go through the story if you play male or female (mainly in the dialogues).
Aug 7, 2008Seems like Jay just figured out the secret combination to awesome Diablo gamesPosted in: News
add more MOOOS
I hope it will be a more hidden secret this time around though, maybe some sort of secret you can find in the game instead of looking at the list of the Horadric cube formulas on bnet
Aug 7, 2008Don't stand up if you can't take the heat.Posted in: News
We need someone who's tough enough for D3.
Blizzard isn't a person but a team, and the team needs people who are fit for the job, so hopefully it will bring nothing but good things :).
Aug 6, 2008I wouldn't be so sure, there will probably have other summons in the same flavor as the Valkyrie or the Shadow MasterPosted in: News
Aug 6, 2008Great news and confirmation of the obvious, I think it's pretty clear that D3 is meant to be the greatest game of its genre ever.Posted in: News
Quote from "shelledfade" »I guess its going to be a long wait guys. So much for a 08 release... probably not even a 09 either.
Stop it, we all know that D3 is going to come out on June 29th 2009 (you know DiabloI 12th birthday 1 + 2 = 3 it's just too perfect ;))
Aug 5, 2008Posted in: News
Nope but:necro: still represents one of the most important themes of Diablo, DeathQuote from "HARDCOREPOORE" »am i the only one who thinks the necro was the sole char that sucked mad dick?
Aug 5, 2008Necromancer back in the expansion?Posted in: News
Reapers for the win XD
Quote from "Daaavid" »What I spect is:
-Some kind of sorceress/mage
-A high defense class (like paladins in d2)
-????? (a ranged class maybe)
That's exactly the same thing as in D2. You need to make more mix up, here's a quick example:
Barbarian: Melee fighter + magic combat skills (like stun, ancient hammer, furious charge, etc.)
Witch Doctor: Druid (Summons + fire) + Necromancer (Curses and poison)
Pure Mage with magical traps and some buffs (like enchant/mana shield but more innovative)
Ranger + Paladin (I have a feeling for some Greek influences here)
Reaper: Assassin (shadow + combat skills) + Paladin (offensive auras) + Necromancer (Bone)
Jul 30, 2008I hope you'll be able to play on bnet 2 without too much lag (hopefully at the same speed as in single).Posted in: News
After dupes and hacking, lag is without doubt the biggest turn off at playing multiplayer.
Nothing more annoying than being attacked by invisible/invicible enemies
It's also true that multiplayer was kind of hidden for the new comers, if anything single player should have come second.
Personally if I want to play single, I just create a private game online where I am alone. This way I can still play ladder and switch whenever I want :).
