All kinds of new Diablo 3 goodies for you today! First and foremost, Blizzard has updated the Bestiary with a new creature: The Unburied! This nasty behemoth is apparently compromised of rotting corpse parts, disfigured heads, horns, sugar and spice. Ok, well maybe not those last two. See for yourself...
"Something is dreadfully wrong. Fear is in the air; I can feel it. I was but days out of Tristram when I saw a screaming ball of flame rip across the sky. Surely enough, soon after witnessing this harbinger of doom, I stumbled upon a badly mangled traveler. He was barely able to spit out the tale of the cursed monstrosity responsible for his broken body as his life drifted away. He called his killer "the unburied"." ... "Being born out of pits of human misery, these beings feed on human suffering. Wherever bodies are dumped together unceremoniously, the unburied may rise."
In other words, if you run into this big fella, don't expect him to hold your hand for a nice romantic walk in the park. Blizzard has also put up another nice media update with new concept art and screenshots, both of which feature the unburied among other things. Take a look and click on any of the images below to see the full high-res versions!
Concept Art (3 new images):
The Bone Reaver.
Wow. Another beautiful piece by Peter Lee.
The Unburied.

Alright, there's obviously plenty to digest today (and by the looks of the unburied, he's been digesting quite a bit as well). So what are your thoughts on all of the latest pieces of concept art, screenshots, and The Unburied? That one piece of concept art by Peter Lee is nothing short of amazing if you ask me. Also, judging by the concept art, I think I also want a Bone Reaver for a pet.
i like the new monster. maybe he looks like warcraft. but i dont play so i dont know. i know that he is very wicked looking. all those faces and stuff. looks like a bad ass.
now to talk about the peter lee picture. near the middle right of the picture you kinda see a circle in the ground. to me it looks like a defensive place. that big building looks wierd though too. im guessing there was a king who lived there.
In my opinion, the Unburied blows WoW's Abomination out of the water. It's way more creepy and terrifying. I'm most certainly going to keep my distance when I first run into one of those monstrosities
I also found the picture of the Bone Reaver to be very entertaining. It's something I would expect in a Diablo game.
I love the screeenshots too... Hell, I love it all.
Good lord. That thing almost gave me hives when I looked at it. Unreal. What a fantastic update though. This is the sort of update I've really been hoping for.
I'm sure if the abomination would've been made with the current D3 engine, it would've been very close to what the unburied looks like. And no, i wasn't really specifically aware of the WC3/WOW abomination (thanks for pointing it out though, the resemblance is quite uncanny), what i am aware about is that the unburied would fit well into a Warcraft based game, but doesn't strike me as being very Diabolical.
And you find this very "Diabolical", then?
Seriously, I don't see what obvious similarities there could be between the Uburried and the Abomination except that both are Undead giants of sorts, one has three arms and the other has multiple heads. One has one head and other has two arms. Yes.... I could see how this could be confusing..... To a complete idiot.
Well, this is quite a nice update considering we've gotten next to nothing for so long. The artwork as always looks awesome and I agree that the town could be new Trist; that would be cool. As for the screens and the unburied; nice to see a new addition to the bestiary and even to those bashing him, I think he looks damn good and evil. The screens are looking better every time, I like the barb shield in the first one....hopefully they will throw little tidbits like that in more screens next time. I'm pleased.
So why did you rush to this thread to tell us how you think that the monster is incredibly WoWish just because it doesn't 'tipify the Diablo feel'? Does every monster need to 'tipify the Diablo feel'? Or does everything you see including yourself in the mirror remind you of WoW and this forum is just a collateral damage to your illness? Would be nice to get to the bottom of that some day.
It's not diabolical you're thinking. It's diabloical.
This monster seems pretty extreme. I'm sure Blizzard will be pushing the envelope a bit with some of its new monster concepts. But I doubt many others are this extreme.
I like the new monster, but I think there should be less of them in groups. Like the fat grotesques which explode into Lamprey or the big demons which are summoned by the cultist. There is only one of those at a time, not 8 or so of them in a single mob
Or if they're going to have lots of them all in 1 area, at least have a few different variations of the model, a few smaller ones and bigger ones, ones with heads in different places etc
Aside from that, I like it. I think it fits into Sanctuary just fine
P.S - They shouldn't have that cloth down below... Thats lame. His genital area should be covered by a roll of fat
The only thing that makes any opinion hurtful is the way you say it.
It seems like they really like the bloated, decayed corpse look, like the monster summoned by the Cultists and now this creature. Oh well, I like him. Or her. Or it. As long as I don't start seeing Dark Elves or something, I won't complain much
Well, Doppelganger, if the Horned Hulk from a game called DIABLO 2 doesn't capture the feel of DIABLO 2, then why should everything that they may come up with the future? Furthermore, that makes it "Warcraftian"? Did you play a Warcraft game or you just pulled that out of your ass?
Which is more similar in style to which here, would you say?
But the most hilarious part is how every time you are trying to convince me that none of what you say has any meaning, that you are just typing meanlingless words that should not be responded, and any conclusion I may draw from your posts is automatically wrong, because there was no meaning to begin with, and especially the most obvious thing that you seemed to be saying is the thing that you most certainly were not saying. Either present your failure directly or stop posting meaningless things alltogether because they seem to provoke me for no reason at all somehow.
The Abomination looks like it's trying to hide a smile and just has that fat kid gone undead feel to it.
The Unburied looks more maniacal and serious.
2 Very different monsters, yet similar in some aspects; of course.
But that's expected as some would say.
As for me I love it.
The Peter Lee art is awesome as usual and it looks like we got some cool new screens as well.
Woot!

...'cause asfar as i'm concerned it might aswell come straight out of a lame arcadeish game based on the Spawn comics or whatever. But thats my "hurthful and disrespecting and controversial" opinion obviously.
And a Spawn bash to boot.
Damn. *shame*
I do feel Spawn should be left in the Comics where he performs best.
I never liked any of the Spawn based games.. they felt really shitty. And the graphics for the first one, well I've seen better PS1 games that were shittier that had far more superior graphics.
But this is a Diablo forum, so I'm just going to stick with Diablo. lol

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
Wow, everyone is so angry today! Well I for one will focus on the peter lee concept art. I love it, i want it, they need to release more of it. It completely captures the feel of what the game should be.
I could also have a pet Bone Reaver. It's nice of them to give us a little bit every now and then. Really, they are putting a lot of time and effort on this game.

And yeah, the loincloth makes the monster seem like less of an accident, and more intended to be some regular bipedal creature.
