DotA needs to really die alraedy, the game is decent, not all out awesome, and the community is full of elitist pricks; keep the plague of DotA away from Battle.Net 2.0.
LMAO someone isn't very bright. Did you not notice it's being made by a Valve team (which is led by Icefrog), and thus won't be on b.net or bnet 2.0. Oh and LoL is a free-to-play game that isn't nearly balanced, and isn't nearly as fulfilling or worthwhile compared to the original DotA, or HoN (and thus expectedly, DotA2). LoL was made by the original maker of DotA who ditched it because he didn't think it was popular enough. When it did pick up, he made LoL and tried to make a profit from it (with the collector's pack or whatever). And yet even LoL only attracted the less-serious players from DotA. So please kid, keep it down.

Dota rocks. Hon is awesome... I hated LoL... hope Dota 2 will be good. I want cool graphics and 100 heroes. different maps, more than 4 skills per hero, more customization in every aspect of the game.
Edit: after reading a bit, im kinda skeptical towrads this whole dota 2 thing. I mean, they said that they are not touching the gameplay, just improving graphics and adding voice chat, acheivements and a coaching system. Sounds like HON...
Hmmmm.... wasn't DotA made into its own franchise of League of Legends?
And btw DotA sucks, keep the elitist shit community out of Battle.Net 2.0
You're entitled to your own opinion but you shouldn't come out trash talking the game like that. Just because there are some elitist rage-a-holics that play DotA and make it seem like a bad game, it's no reason to say it sucks. Next time you come out talking like that, or out of anything for that matter, make sure it's a closet - that way you'll at least be applauded for your efforts and respected among close friends. Also... not that there's anything wrong with that.
If they take their time on it, DotA 2 should be a great game.
Wasn't DotA made into a Genre(Kinda) and less of a 'franchise'.
Oh, and, you will ALWAYS get elitists in a community. You will not, and cannot, change that. I see DotA as a good attraction for elitists, so they stay out of the other games.
The whole 'DotA Genre' overall isn't too bad. I don't know why you've developed so much hate for a... MAP?

Thanks Akuma But I talked to my friends (who are absoltely stoked for DotA2, where I'm content with just HoN), and they said since its Icefog + a Valve team making DotA2, it would be hosted and available trough steam, and not b.net. However, either way would be cool.
Personally, I might just stick with HoN for the simple reason that it is higher-level (even though I do suck badly), everything is really really balanced, bugs and glitches are fixed early and often, lots of new add-ons compared to other games. The main attraction (for me) in DotA 2 is how they're going to use the new Source engine for it, as well as the resurgence of Slark the Murloc Nightcrawler. <3 Now, if DotA2 was free (or relatively cheap), contained all the new add-ons that HoN has and DotA didn't have, then I would definitely get it. But otherwise, I don't see way I should have to move back to DotA2 when I have HoN. Right?
edit: My bad Akuma! I thought you had said that DotA2 would be on bnet. ^^'

I've been Ullion since you've ever been here methinks. When I first joined up I was Killer-Swift though. In terms of memory, I was the leader of DFAC when we all played ikariam?
I only got into DotA around last October. My roomies totally got me into it, haha.

I like the whole genre. Dota was great, HoN was better (except it missed some quality heroes from DoTa. I play LoL every now and then mainly because it's free but I'm not certain of why but LoL seems a little less satisfying than DoTa and HoN. Maybe it's because you can't just get an agility heroe and get Deso/Shieldbreaker and pwn the shit out of everyone.
Funny thing, just as i was typing this, my friend called me saying that he and a few of our friends were thinking of starting a HoN team to maybe even compete and asking if i wanted to be the 5th player haha..
Alright, I apologize for my bashing earlier, I had too much experience on WoW forums (and other gaming forums) and a topic of DotA will usually turn into a debate on how bad it is (imo).
DotA is a decent game, but it has spawned one of, if not the worst communities in the history of gaming, surpassing even FPS and the WoW communities in terms of jackassery. It's this that I (and many others) dislike DotA, an example of my earlier attempts at trying to get into DotA:
Me (Player 1): Hi guys I'm new
Player 2: Omg noob gtfo
Player 3: GG, noob game
-Player 3 leaves game-
So yeah I'm a little biased against DotA and I believe it should die and just stick with HoN and LoL.
And I support Riot's lawsuit again Valve on the DotA name
I believe all the DotA games are good (aside from Demigod), and I enjoy all of them to an extent. I mainly play LoL though.
My main gripe with the original DotA is it is on Warcraft 3, which runs like shit and the interface is and looks like shit. I have gotten too use to the smooth interface on LoL which runs quite well. It is also very attractive and not too large, unlike the Warcraft interface. As for HoN, well, I just did not like the speed of the game very much. A little too fast paced. Also, I could never tell which person is my enemy or ally; the same holds true to DotA. LoL tells you this very nicely. I also like the fact that LoL has more actives.
As for balancing, I assume most people are ignorant to take a stance on this, since most people have not researched it themselves and take opinions of others and from general communities. They all have imbalances, no surprise. I cannot speak for DotA or HoN, but LoL and has some pretty amazing imbalances. Hell, even one of the MAPS is unbalanced. Dr. Mundo, Garen, and Mordekaiser are all 3 ridiculously OP heroes, especially on the unbalanced map previously mentioned. Mundo is typically fine on 5s though...
As for community, they are all terrible. LoL is no better, as some people claim it is. Not at all. As for being more casual, probably. It is free and has a cartoony look which typically attracts the more casual players.
Do not even get me started on people saying one game is harder than the other... the difficulty levels are all of the same, because it is a team vs. team online arena-like game. If it is "easy" for one team, it is just as "easy" for the other. It crosses itself out.
As for DotA 2, it is basically the original DotA; even bringing over many of the characters. I probably will not care for it if it brings nothing new.
Only time I get true nerd rage is when I die on HC in a very familiar spot.
BUT ANYWAY.
Yeah I think they should just stick to the way things were, especially if they're going to *copy-paste* everything. I want something new and exciting... something like... DIABLO III!!!!
And why was Demigod that bad? It wasn't the worst. It was my first DotA-related experience and it was pretty awesome for me. Sure there aren't that many chars (10, last I checked) but they're all unique and are good for their own reasons. They also have quite the variety of maps and do not limit themselves to 4 skills you can level up but rather other passives unique to their character. Their item's weren't that great and if you've played on multiplayer for long enough you would have an advantage over someone new(this happened quite a bit).
But I guess I liked it more for Single Player since I needed to learn the genre as I was quite new to it. The graphics and music weren't that bad either(I quite liked it).
