I found this on wow insider: Pardo says Warcraft IV is "one of the ideas on the table" after SC2

Our good friends at Gamedaily recently got a chance to sit down and talk with Rob Pardo, VP of Blizzard, and he dropped hints about yet another new game that they might be working on. No, not Starcraft II, or the rumored Diablo 3, or even the long-awaited (and unfortunately, probably never coming) Lost Vikings sequel. Nope -- he hinted that after the release of Starcraft II, whenever that happens, Blizzard's RTS team might be hard at work on... Warcraft IV.
Don't hold your breath, of course (this is Blizzard we're talking about) -- this would be after the current real-time strategy game is done, and Pardo says it would be "one of the the ideas on the table," so it's not exactly in the planning stages yet. But it's interesting to hear that Blizzard may still return to the Warcraft universe under the RTS banner -- we've seen such a different aspect of the world in the MMO, it would be very strange to go back to controlling these units from the top down.
Pardo also says that a console version of WoW is pretty much out of the question at this point -- if there is going to be a super-successful console MMO, it's not going to be World of Warcraft, as this game was designed for PC and has gone through so many iterations since that Blizzard isn't at all interested in trying a port. We are still waiting for that playable version of the Molten Core console game, though...
Could this figure not be someone completely new? Two of the lesser evils who have yet to appear in a Diablo game. Could it be Azmodan or Belial emerging from the ice? Does one of them see the fall of all the other rulers of Hell as their time to rise? Will I stop asking questions?

sounds like a load of shit to me, return to the wc universe? when the fuck did they leave it
Personally I'm growing to hate a lot of you speculators. It's making me ill reading all of these. I've seen so much bullshit in this thread it's really makes me want to get a group of people and drink some funny looking kool aid.
Every 2-3 posts is some god damn image of Diablo/Diablo2box art hell even unofficial images of Diablo (Diablo 3 fan box art). You're all so damn blind to the fact that there could be a new release or announcement that you're just grasping at every little morsel you can to make it seem like this is going to be a Diablo related release. When really it's probably not related. I want Diablo 3 as much as the next guy but come on. We got some SithDiablo guy saying " It's common sense, it's going to be D3".." I knew last year it was going to be SC2" man I'm not buying it. You're saying its common sense but you're just dodging everything that comes your way in relation to proof.
Who are you guys honestly trying to convince here? The non-believers or yourselves? Call me ignorant but it looks like you're trying to convince yourselves, clawing, scratching trying to find something that could be tied to Diablo. Diablo holding 3 fingers out? What now? Diablo's throwing gang signs? Come on man. This is getting rediculous.
Call me jaded, but I have a very strong feeling that a LOT of people that are being morons and speculating, digging, clawing, beating off to their diablo 2 battlechest. Will be the ones crying like abandoned children that have realized Daddy really didn't just go to the store he aint coming back. I don't play wow, I don't play starcraft. I don't think it's wotlk and I would love to see Diablo 3 but you're all setting yourselves up for a big fall and sites like Diabloii.net will be burned to the ground after the WWI and it turns out their "Inside source" is just a bunch of words that turn into a steaming pile of shit. I'm not saying stop speculating. Have your fun, but do it with a little intelligence.
i just dont understand why they would not do what everyone is hoping for !!! i dont see any other game having so much hardcore fan. of course any game they will do will go gold, but not as much as diablo could.
Hey, if there IS another teaser, then, we're already a bit more than 1/3 of the way there. Just 2/3 more! I haven't gone to sleep yet, I plan to hit the sack in the late afternoon [7:30ish], wake up at about 1:30, talk on the forums till about 3, wake up at about 9:30 to 10:45 in the AM. Sleep yo day away!

Blizzard's splash screen changes for June 27th: A "Lost" penguin and Death Knight imagery
Posted Jun 27th 2008 3:55AM by Daniel Whitcomb
Filed under: Events, Blizzard, News items, Galleries, Rumors, Worldwide Invitational Good Morning everyone! It is now June 27th, and as expected, Blizzard's splash screen has changed yet again to reveal more of the mystery behind what they may be announcing at the Worldwide Invitational, which begins tomorrow. What exactly they're announcing is still up in the air, but there have been some interesting revelations, especially concerning the mysterious purple monster everyone's been wondering about.
The new graphic, named ice5.jpg, doesn't seem to have changed the cracking ice much, but what has changed is the "eyes." There's now very little doubt that they are glowing eyes instead of snow flecks, and to be frank, they do look remarkably like the eyes of Arthas the Lich King from underneath his helmet -- although the ethereal feel of them and the strange ridges being formed in the vapor are also very reminiscent of the Protoss. Whether these ridges indicate Arthas' helmet or the face ridges of a Protoss or a demon might still be up for debate, but this overlay of Arthas on today's splash screen by Zach is very convincing -- the eyes match up pretty much exactly. Hopefully, we'll know for sure who it is tomorrow.
In addition, the new rune, located just above the breaking ice, is that of a snowflake, which brings to mind the Frost tree of the Death Knights (even if the frost rune shown on the official Death Knight page doesn't quite match up). Tipster Allen notes that the new rune looks a lot like a Norse Bind-Rune, specifically one known as a compass or the "Helm of awe," which is often used for invulnverability -- perhaps a Lost Vikings reference, or a nod to the Viking-like architecture seen in many screenshots of Northrend?
All This new imagery would seem to be a killing blow of sorts for a Diablo 3 announcement, but it is also worth nothing that the new frost rune is in the correct area for the Pentagram theory to continue to apply. In addition, all 5 runes have lit up, so if you weren't able to get a good look at them before, you certainly can now. Gallery: June 2008 splash screen speculation
What's really sort of interesting, though, is what our purple monster friend reveals, which I'll discuss after the break.
We finally have a face for our strange purple monster, and we can now confirm that it is in fact a penguin, as we've received the full image. The two new pieces of the purple penguin puzzle are entitled 08.jpg and 42.jpg. It appears those who believed in the Lost numbers theory have been vindicated, as the file names of all the images now match the sequence of numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42) that pop up time and time again on the hit show. Whether this just indicates that someone at Blizzard is a fan of the TV show "Lost," or that we can expect something Lost Vikings related at WWI, is still up in the air. This does mean the Powder name is probably out. I sort of liked that name. Farewell, Powder the Penguin, we hardly knew ye!
It is also worth knowing that two new words have appeared in the master CSS file. Harbinger is the word attached to 08.jpg, which suggests that it is, in fact, preceding some announcement, or could just mean the penguin is a "harbinger" of the WWI. After a bunch of dots, as if to indicate some type of drumroll, 42.jpg's line shows up, this time appended with "evilpenguin," just in case you had any doubts as to whether this creature was a penguin or not.
More rumors have popped up today about the splash screen and the WWI announcement it heralds, of course. Some people are predicting Death Knights before WoTLK, which may be supported a bit by the overwhelming Death Knight imagery that has appeared in today's splash screen. Some are saying that fourth rune represents Pax Imperia: Eminent Domain, which was once owned by Blizzard, and may indicate that they have recovered the rights and intended to revive the franchise.
For now, I'm saying that the new Death Knight imagery heralds something major about WoTLK coming out at the Invitational. Is it playable Death Knights before WoTLK? Maybe, but I'm not completely convinced. It will be good though. Still, we have lots of rumors floating around about Diablo 3, and the pentagram theory still works, so who knows, maybe we'll just get lots of good news coming our way tomorrow.

Then how come WWI art has Diablo with his soulstone? It's in 2008!
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
lol.... listening to all of this nonsense makes me a sad panda
