How about a bow class character with auras!? The bow class was one of the support characters in my opinion so why now take that to the next level by giving the new ranged class auras such as health/damage/defense increases? I like the passive and magic tree but I agree with the person who once noted that there where 3 kinds of evasion ect which was really boring and used up a lot of your skill points.
In my opinion, the previous amazon had some good skills but only when you had crazy good weapons/loot. If you found your self in nightmare/hell difficulty and you weren't having much luck finding better weapons you could be stuck for days...gasp.. longer trying to make your character survivable again. Thats why I didn't like the amazon in diablo 2.
I really liked auras in Diablo 2, until I realized how buffed up hammers got from concentration. As long as they weren't OP I would be happy. But.. I don't think auras will make a comeback, and if they do there will probably only be two or three. How often did you see a pally with maxed out prayer? Aura's with a ranger character would be a good idea if they good fit it to the character, it worked so well with the paladin because he is a holy knight type character.
For an alternate ranged character, I'm thinking more of a samurai type - light sword and bow.
I think the Amazon was one of the best classes from the Diablo series (from a design standpoint), but when they nerfed bow skills to the point of uselessness they effectively destroyed half of the class' usability. Plus it always annoyed me that thrown javelins were godlike, but pikes were worthless. I think they should remake the Amazon, but make sure each weapon specialization gets equal lovin'. The passive & magic tree definitely needs some reworking.
Maybe stances would work... although I wouldn't really call stances the same as self-auras. When I think "stance" I usually think of incompatible spells, which doesn't really fit with auras which are generally just buffs without a downside. That being said, I think stances could be made to work with a ranged character.
I don't think this "support-class" is going to be in DiabloIII. Blizzard already said that none of the classes will have any special function like "healer" or "tank". In theory every class will be a damage class.

I don't see this as a support class... it's not a healer, tank, or anything like that, it's simply a hero with a bow. I can't see where anyone said anything that would suggest that this is a support character.
I felt the bows were underpowered in the game. Only when you found "the" ultra unique and powerful bow did you start to p'own other people and thats where I can see people complaining about "it not being fair" so the only point of my idea of the auras was to combat this problem.
Aura's fail. They should not be in Diablo 3 as far as I'm concerned. (Always overpowered.)
Bows, Crossbows are good enough, no lame aura based stuff please.
Just because they were never properly balanced in diablo 2 does not mean they cannot be balanced in diablo 3....and really they werent that overpowered in D2 anyways...maybe concen aura for hdins thats about it tho
D2's Auras will never come back because the short-keys system changed.
But, if the barbarian can increase his allies defence, i'm prety sure other classes can do similar stuff.
And balance, in 99% of the cases, are a question of numbers, not design.
i don't know what you'd call it, but i'd love to see a an archer class combined with some blademaster (and even sneaky) abilities.
just a few of the latter skills, like blade skills for pushing back monsters so you can pound em with arrows/bolts, and maybe also a "backstab" type skill where you can sneak up and just rape shit from behind.
That combined with archery skills might be too much and too overpowered, but hell, it'd be kick ass.
I'm thinking like an assassin, but not in the D2 sense. like a sneaky bastard who is lethal with weapons. throwing knives would be nice here too if they could make them not a joke.
I personally would like to see a retooled Assassin, with more emphasis on ranged combat instead of that Trap crap. I never caught on to traps, and they didn't feel all that natural. Personally, what I would like to see is something more like the Oblivion assassin, bows and blades, with a little bit of stealth (via skill or magic), quick attacks, and poisons. It would be pretty killer, though I have a feeling many would scream "WOW ROGUE REMAKE"...

There are no stupid questions, just a bunch of inquisitive idiots.
I seriously do hope they won't make an asian styled class, I don't want to see a ninja nor a samurai when I walk around ...
Yea... seriously... if there will be some kind of oriental thing suddenly popping in the diablo lore just because they want to add a ninja or a samurai class, it would be too cheesy....
Huntum sea monster wif sharp stik. Good aim. use bow and arrow wif rope to use drag and knife technique. Makeum healthy paste from water plant. Useum shell and bone from dead sea monster for armor. Commandum the power of the sea. Makeum and sail ship for faster travel. Swimum and dive under water hold bref for long time. Commandum sea creature when near water. Findum treasures better than other. Sniffum enemy wif good smeller. Catchum fish for eat and feel good. Fire monster run in fear.

"hunter" or "headhunter" or something maybe...
Or like a ranger/pirate/ship guy/thief. Fast scimitar sword's play, good knife throwing and bow use. No shields, dodge and critical hit skills along with thievery.
Van Helsing type of character. I don't know their called exactly but it fits the Diablo killing demons theme perfectly. He/she can use harpwns(harpoons)!

I'd love to see something like what you both said, basically a mercenary or paid assassin who focused on ranged weapons, a sniper. He or she would be a mix of World of Warcraft Hunter (without the pet) and Rogue (without the melee combat specialization). Bows or crossbows would be his usual tool of the trade. He'd focus on aimed shots: a slow rate of fire that did lethal damage.
This would be a dark character, but unlike the Necromancer who desires power and seeks it through occult paths, he would be down-to-earth, practical, greedy and criminal. He'd wear cloaks, cowls, hoods. Lots of black clothing and armor.
Anyone here play the Thief series of 1st person sneakers? Someone like Garret- very practical, cynical and worldly, yet professional and focused. Or, like the Thieves from the Majesty RTS; I really loved the line they said whenever they got gold: "My ambition has paid off!" A female version would be like the character Haley from the Order of the Stick webcomic.
Skills would include ranged attack stuff, stealth and some dirty fighting tricks for melee (usually to disable opponents or keep them away from you). Sniping shots (long cast time (aiming), but does a lot of extra damage- best done as an initial attack). Sand or dirt in your eyes. Garrotes (silences target; attacking a lone target does not cause other mobs in the area to aggro you for a certain amount of time; if you kill quickly enough, you will leave combat without attracting attention). Trick shots (example: shooting someone in the foot, leg, paw, hoof, tentacle, etc. to slow them down). Stealth (you can sneak by). Distraction 1 (making it easier to sneak by). Distraction 2 (distract an opponent, step back into the shadows, escape).
I still think that this could be a really cool idea with the bow class having a few, maybe mild, auras. Perhaps with a bit of short sword action, idk. Honestly, I would pee my pants in excitement if they made this class. Its everything that i like in a character class. I dont doubt they can address any of the balance issues regarding being over or under powered as many people complained about with the paladin's auras in diablo 2. If they do I just hope they dont try and nerf it too much with in reason of course. XD
