I think Messenger has a great idea. Make it a criminal mastermind type character. The name could easily be Thief or Rogue (maybe a different band than the Act 1 rogue so we can have a male.). You wouldn't want it too be to slow though either, so Blizzard probably wouldn't have to make stealth unless it was part of some sort of ambush attack. Great ideas though.

There are no stupid questions, just a bunch of inquisitive idiots.
That would be pretty fly if the class threw boomerangs and p'owned everyone. I would find it comical though if someone just cought the boomerang, although i know this is just a game, when i think about it in real life i picture someone just catching the thing after i threw it. Maybe unless the thing had spikes on it or something idk.
Actually, the more i think about it, the boomerang idea is kindof growing on me. If they made up a whole bunch of skills like multiple homeing boomerangs, where each of them seeks out a target ect and maybe they freeze their target like frozen boomerang or something like vally of exploding boomerangs. XD

That's the thing! It sounds funny at first, but it has some potential! Remember Mad Max II?
It could easily be adapted into the fantasy genre. It's not too far-fetched to expect, say, a higher level character to throw boomerangs made of pure energy (or something along those lines).
Well they can still do auras but i would just like to see something different this time, not 20 auras like the paladin has.

I agree, i dont want 20 auras, maybe five or six. and i dont want the auras to dominate the class. Maybe let it operate in a similar fashion the barbarians war cries did. What do you guys think?
That would be okay with me if they did that. Auras that only affect ememy monsters or even if there was one trademark aura ie accuracy gains for example. In the eastern sun mod there is a skill that really slowes down enemy monsters that i like, but thats just an idea. Perhaps the auras would have to be rather mild in order to justify them. Any ideas?
Well if they do implement auras they can have a big range on what their effects will are or will be. But for an archer type of character we dont need much just something for imp aim/mana regen another one for dmg reduct/health regen, you know the type of auras that make you choose which one you need or want to use, i just dont want another paladin i really hated having all those auras.

I find that, unless there's some flavor to back up the decision, implementing features like auras is nonsensical. Just throwing in a "imp aim/mana regen another one for dmg reduct/health regen (sic)" doesn't make sense. Think to yourself WHY a character would have an aura, then work from there.
If the ranged character is something like your generic fantasy ranger, would that character having an aura that increases health/mana (or any other variations along this vein) fit with the theme? I think it's best to tackle questions like this and to think of character concepts before saying, "oh, I think that the character should have an aura."
I'd love to see something like what you both said, basically a mercenary or paid assassin who focused on ranged weapons, a sniper. He or she would be a mix of World of Warcraft Hunter (without the pet) and Rogue (without the melee combat specialization). Bows or crossbows would be his usual tool of the trade. He'd focus on aimed shots: a slow rate of fire that did lethal damage.
This would be a dark character, but unlike the Necromancer who desires power and seeks it through occult paths, he would be down-to-earth, practical, greedy and criminal. He'd wear cloaks, cowls, hoods. Lots of black clothing and armor.
Anyone here play the Thief series of 1st person sneakers? Someone like Garret- very practical, cynical and worldly, yet professional and focused. Or, like the Thieves from the Majesty RTS; I really loved the line they said whenever they got gold: "My ambition has paid off!" A female version would be like the character Haley from the Order of the Stick webcomic.
Skills would include ranged attack stuff, stealth and some dirty fighting tricks for melee (usually to disable opponents or keep them away from you). Sniping shots (long cast time (aiming), but does a lot of extra damage- best done as an initial attack). Sand or dirt in your eyes. Garrotes (silences target; attacking a lone target does not cause other mobs in the area to aggro you for a certain amount of time; if you kill quickly enough, you will leave combat without attracting attention). Trick shots (example: shooting someone in the foot, leg, paw, hoof, tentacle, etc. to slow them down). Stealth (you can sneak by). Distraction 1 (making it easier to sneak by). Distraction 2 (distract an opponent, step back into the shadows, escape).
I love this idea. I think the character would be cool if it looked like the Assassin's Creed character, but with more dark features instead of lighter.

Yeah like a darker shade of Gray rather than the White/Silver he's got on. The red is just great. The brown is also good. Just a darker shade of gray would work with the design actually.
Actually yes i can picture the 5th class like that too just darker.

Yeah, I just can't see that design though in black. The grey works better. Especially with the red. If you have black it just makes the red look too bright and painful to the eyes. Grey kinda evens it out don't you think?
Well red and black is my favorite color mix i think that would make the character much more fun to play with since it would make it seem more badass. But i think that any mix of black/red/grey is good, so yea red and grey could work.

Well if you darken the shade of the red it could work. I dunno, I'm guessing Blizzard could pull that kind of thing off. When do you think they'll release the 5th character though? Maybe as a Christmas Gift or a Happy Holloween release? What do you think? At least, since they did mention this last character has been the longest standing character that has just gone through a lot of re-iterations and re-imaginations, we can expect it to be released soon. There's no other characters left. Plus once the characters are out all we got to do is wait another year for D3 to be released since they'll start talking about other things than just the characters. Like the story, the in game mechanics.
God i hope they dont reveal it at the next blizzcon cuz that means another year of waiting, but hopefully they reveal it sometime this year.

Yeah... Lol next blizzcon would be pushing it. The farthest I'll wait before I go crazy would be Christmas. Besides I doubt they'll do any major changes to the characters without the final character being released yet. So far its only the looks and color palette of skills they've been changing but nothing major. So, yeah, my guess is they'll only do the major changes when all 5 classes are complete. Man sometimes I love it, but sometimes I also hate it, when blizzard is so secretive about their games.
Unfortuanetly thats how they roll, its good to be secretive when you're going to release a big game like D3 but they just take forever to give us info on anything about it.
