the trees would be from as stated in the title... amazon, assassin, and druid. from the amazon there would be "range" attack skills, like d2. from assassin there would be traps, but more than just fire and lightning. from druid there could be summoning. just a thought, please give me feedback on your opinion

I still think ranger is a good idea, traps, bow, and... some other tree... don't think we really need a melee skill tree... I mean let them dual wield like swords and such just don't give them skills to do with it.
I know a lot of people don't want the archer class to have pets, mostly due to the rampant WOW hate. But in some ways it makes sense to have a pet the same way casters have summons, you are a ranged class so you need something to "tank" for you while you rain down death upon your enemies.
DnD did it first, as they did pretty much everything first.
I'd actually want to see offensive plant skills. Something like that WC3 skill that a hero could cast that entangled people. It's kinda like a trap, but more druid/ranger-like.
I think it's a gameplay technicality just as potions out of thin air, summons, or pretty much anything for that matter. aka they'd appear out of nowhere. How does a druid summon wolves in hell?
A few summons doesn't bother me, as long as it doesn't come to rival the summoner class.
Yeah this should be fixed in D3, no mercs. In LOD everyone has a 1 powerfull summon that can tank almost anything, btter than golems and such.
Btw I hate pet thing in WoW. Played 3 years of hunter there and sigh that crap. I always wonder why can't they make an option where if you spec Marksmanship you would lose the pet but gain some insane ranged skills that will stop enemies etc. Pet is a terrible burden there, you have to feed it, you have to control it, make it attack on every monster and then it always loses agro if you have too good gear. Luckily with good gear the monsters die before reaching you
I rather would like to see something pure archer type in D3, with some survival skills.. traps and such. Passive tree, bow tree, survival tree.
I love mercs. I don't see how they tanked better than golems. Maybe after you uber equipped them, but playing through normal mercs get killed left and right.
Mine didn't. I always felt that properly geared (and not necessarily über-geared) they were way to powerful.
I must have been doing something wrong... because after I'd played through the game a few times I'd make characters in solo with a good amount of magic find and as much gold as I wanted and load my merc up on equipment and it'd still die to almost any boss/miniboss/unique mob of monsters.

Yeah I think that we will see rather than a new class (Ranger) we will se a revamped version of the Druid. But I think it would make slightly more sense to divide its skill trees into 'Hunting Skills' (Bow Skills and Traps), Lycanthropy (Shapeshifting and Summoning), and the final tree of Earthen Magic (Similar to D2 skill tree).
For some reason I just dont believe that they are going to make any type of pure ranged class. I think they will give one character bow skills (like above) and another character the spear/javalin skills.
The Ranger/Hunter class is very likely to be in D3 in my opinion. I mean, what other practical "bow" type class can you think of? My guess on the skill set was also Bow/Crossbow, Summoning, and Traps, like many of you mentioned.
I believe that the female druid artwork on the blizzard website is actually a female hunter/ranger.
I think a class with a summoning tree should be saved for expansion.
i think they should be genocided altogether except for the wd. The tree thing is pretty smart, though. Never really thought about it, and as long as the skills themselves remain unique and original (watch me tear my hair out when I see multishot and werebear form on my ranger's skill tree) i love the idea.

I think you misread what he meant, he meant the ranger will have traps like assassin, ranged skills like the amazon, and pets like the druid.
Rangers are pretty much where WoW got the idea for hunters.
Anyway what ranged class do you want?

Hrm what could be the last tree?
That would be KICK-ASS
DnD did it first, as they did pretty much everything first.
Amazons had Valkyries.
A few summons doesn't bother me, as long as it doesn't come to rival the summoner class.
Maybe the backstory is these could be from the same lands as the druids.

Wait what? You don't want mercs?....
