We all know the bow skills damage were underpowered. Forget about multi shot straif, guided arrow ect. I am saying they need to make the bow MUCH more powerful.
Take a look at how insanely powerful the new barbarian and the new wizard classes are.
If they are going to be this powerful I want to see the arrows and bolts do damage like missiles.
At least make the ranged character be able to do as much damage per shot per second as the wizards ranged spells... maybe more because by default the ranged character is probably not inflicting status effects like stun and silence ect.
Let?s make the ranged attacks much more powerful. I am sick of playing as though Im shooting bbs at tanks.
Is it just me or has Bows always been the weaker of the choices when it comes to weapon choice. And I mean in all games. I have this notion in my mind that a bow will always be weaker than a melee weapon.

In real life an arrow can do a LOT of internal damage. In hell difficulty i would expect something asinine like a thirty pound arrow moving at lightning speed towards someone's face!

Well, in D2 bows USED to be the uber-end-all weapon for Amazons. Then they got nerfed so bad that they've become useless. Come on Blizz, just because a spell tree is too good doesn't mean it should be made worthless (overcompensate much?).
I think Blizzard probably realizes that bows are fun, but got over-nerfed. In Diablo 3 you can probably expect them to feel much more lethal.
I like bows as much as the next amazon. And I hope they make a strong showing in D3. Now about that 30 lb. arrow... Thats one muscular amazon. but enough talk of the zons bring on the archer class.

Bring on the Legolas class. Shield-surfing powers ACTIVATE!
Hell yeah, no doubt, the range class will make a comeback. This time will the help of the skill runes, man, additional magical damage and visual effect, it's sweet.
I want a speed-demon. Strong and fast, piercing, and destructive.
since theyre making a whole bunch of passive skills for all the characters, maybe one could be like some kind of passive accuracy skill where the more points there are in it the stronger the attack becomes. maybe that would make them stronger than they were. what are your thoughts on this idea?
for a real life function to see how well a bow damage would be in game. the bows are very accurate. but, at a certian distance. as you increase in distance, the weapon has less accuracy. and the bow is very deadly.
(just had a thought. they should have different types of arrows. like pointed stick arrow, broad head arrow, and then increase the damage of the arrow+bow damage. just a thought might make a new thread about it)
but also. it would depend on where the bow hit. if it hit the enemy in the arm. he might be disabled or might just have a battle wound. so the bow is a very tricky thing to get a average damage on.
i think the ranged class if using a bow. should have instead of dps, should have a distance per damage thing. so if you were to say 10 yards, that would be 30 damage, 15 yards would be 23, 20 yards would be 15, and 25 yards would be 7. or something along those lines. cause really if the enemy had a peice of body armor on. and your close. you would be able to get through the cracks of the armor. but if you were far away. it would be really difficult to get in the weak spot.
@ OP: Please assess the topic of your thread and choose the most precise and definitive forum or subforum for your thread's topic in the future. I've moved this from Diablo 3 to Classes Discussion subforum of the Diablo 3 forum.
Sorry for this really delayed response after I relocated your thread
 I am so nutorious for putting my posts in the wrong thread...i origionally put this thread in the..well um.. i mean i think i put this in the class discussion hahaha my bad im sorry
The avarage ranged weapon damage should be weaker then spells because it does not consume mana.
But the special bow skills should be strong as ranged spells, better in some aspects, worse in others.

anybody have any comments on this?
seems like a great idea, but might be too confusing when you want to see how much damage you do and you see three different ranges of numbers for each attack. Plus, people would really have to learn the distance in equivalence to yards in the game.. shouldn't be THAT hard though. I like the idea
Also, the disabling might only work for PvM, imagine being a barb who got shot in the arm in the arrow and only being able to use your shield. You would be screwed.
You should make a thread about the arrow types, just so you can go into more detail on them and see what everyone has to think.
I raped with my bowazon. I hit 7k dmg np with guided arrow. I dont feel the spells need to do better damage, but the bows should have more dmg. Also have some more item choices, there were only a couple in d2, and they were pretty hard to get. If you didnt have a faith or wf, you might as well camp at town.

It was hard as hell to get the faith bow. The first couple of years I played diablo 2 i was one of the "poor kids" with no internet acess. No I can not expalin the logic behind this. This ment having to go solo. Trading for these items were not possible.
OK, now back to the real world where everbody has the internet. Still it was very hard to get the faith bow. But honestly, why should be wait the WHOLE freaking game to get one of the very few bows that are actually any good....and have to wait three quarters of the game to get it?

i agree. i spent like two years playing a bowazon. and i never got the faith bow or windforce. and i had a rich account. i had lots of stuff on my characters but i was never able to complete my zon.

Sure it needs to do a bit less damage, since you can deal it from range.
But Before LOD and before 1.10 Bowazons were really powerful.

There were items that could ignore armor defenses already in Diablo 2 - I think.
