From the gameplay video, all corpses of monsters that are killed just vanished into thin air. This must surely mean that good ole necro is coming back from the dead.
Even if the necro relied on corpses to raise skeletons or skeletal mages, it made the game more fun cause you have to kill first then use your skill, thus putting action first.
Yep. One can also come to that conclusion seeing many witch doctor skills being inspired by the D2 necromancer - he has his own summon skeleton, explode minion (similar to corpse explosion), confuse, and fear. Blizzard has stated each class will have unique abilities, so one can infer they wouldn't have the necromancer as it would feel redundant.

If you don't have anything good to say, say it on the internet.
Perhaps the necromancer is more like in the Sin War books. What happens, is that when someone or something dies, the soul or spirit of that person is attracted to the Necromancer, and will stay with him/her for a period of time. Then the Necromancer is able to summon that specific person or creature at any time thereafter, until the spirit leaves. It could be something like that, giving the Necromancer the ability to raise the spirit rather than corpse at any moment after a kill. I think it could also be cool that if the Necro were to enter a cemetary, he would gain more power than ever before, due to his ability to control the souls and to bring everything to life. This could make for some interesting class specific quests.
In my opinion, the Necromancer isn't gone from the game yet. In the books, the class was set up to be the most important class in the entire Diablo franchise. As stated earlier, Blizzard said that the WD does not replace the Necromancer. It may replace the play style of the Necro from DII as the ranged spellcaster/summoner, while the new Necromancer would take over the Druid play style as a Melee/summoner.
Personally I think a necromancer should be less summoning and more curses/dagger skills.
No doubt the witch doc will be the summoner class.
Would work with Archies idea above aswell: using the energy of souls rather than animating corpses. Corpse explosion is a vital spell in the necromancer arsenal though...
True, that corpse explode is a vital spell in DII. But it could be phazed out in DIII for cooler and more destructive spells, since that is the direction they are taking.
Although, Blizz devs did recently say that they are going to try and lengthen the time of how long the bodies remain on the ground, as long as it doesn't bring down the performance of the game with 100+ bodies. So, it could go either way.
