just wanted to say what i thought about the art of D3. i liked the colors when i u get outside. it is very stylish and great.
+I'd like to see wind. outside, there's rain. hail. fog. but wind? Yeah it seems quite difficult to render such a thing, but if there was wind, the game will be AWESOME.
The gameplay video marks the presence of wind outside and even inside the Forgotten Tower (dungeon). Unfortunately, in Blizzard's dictionary wind means scripted and repeated movement of objects in the same direction, speed irrespective of environmental factors such as monsters/ characters running past it or higher wind speeds.
Watch the gameplay video carefully and you'll see that the purple (eek) curtains always move in the same fashion and speed. Ditto for the grass where the monster lays a trap for the Witch doctor.

The third 'photocrafted' pic is awesome, just what i would expect from a 3d diablo game
For the most part I agree with him, but not on every point.
That's the lamest way of saying "we don't want to bear additional costs to give diablo 3 a new artistic direction as screamed by thousands of diablo 2 fanatics."
Blizzard could have made the environment darker and the characters more saturated and detailed to propel the character at the center of attention.
Instead they chose the easier way. That's pathetic
The gameplay video looked really great in terms of monster design and general behavour of these monsters.
One department in which diablo 3 can surpass its glorious brother is the A.I department.
In Diablo 2, monsters were moronic enough to remained grouped when the sorceress striked some devastating spell on them.
I wish Blizzard works hard on the monster A.I and the Mercenary A.I (if there are mercenaries).
For instance,
1. When a player casts a wide scale spell, the crowd of monsters shoud disperse and come back when the spell is over.
2. They should retreat back when they are in smaller numbers (after you have kicked their literal asses ) and wait for back-ups before they come charging.
3. Monsters should also be intelligent enough to lead players into traps
As for mercenary A.I, the gameplay video showed at one point the two mercenaries/ guards (when barb rescues cain) of which one stood behind another, that is plain stupid.
Mercenaries should be able to take cover, retreat when necessary and not run into walls, etc where they are trapped by hordes of charging monsters.
This should make the game more interesting and challenging and would really step up from the diablo 2 'goodness'.
From the gameplay video, all corpses of monsters that are killed just vanished into thin air. This must surely mean that good ole necro is coming back from the dead.
Even if the necro relied on corpses to raise skeletons or skeletal mages, it made the game more fun cause you have to kill first then use your skill, thus putting action first.
Originally you could argue it wasn't him. The situation has now been cleared up.
As the Barbarian is standing over one head, you can also assume that the new diablo only has one head. Which quells rumours he has more than one. A rumour that to me sounded pretty silly. As I never saw three heads, I was not nor am I still convince that there is 3 "mouths". The so called other two mouths just look like shoulders of a demon, which can be any size, shape or form.
May be Diablo has lost two of its side horns in a battle with Tyrael or something. The void left by the two horns 'look like' two mouths, but in fact they are not.
And when diablo yells, it appears that he has three mouths, which is in fact false. The smoke before diablo creates an illusion that makes the void spaces appear like mouths.
Bashing polygon amounts is the dumbest thing you can ever do when attacking the graphics of the game. Yes. They are low. You know why?
The game is in alpha stage.
The game is not intended for highly high-end computers.
The game is played with a top down view that's pretty far from those candles, so their poly count doesn't matter.
That's about the most pathetic excuse for not providing gamers with kick-ass graphics (a-la-Crysis).
When game developers build a game, they should provide gamers with a game that is great at graphics, gameplay, fun, storyline and cinematics. Game devs should not be making any compromise.
I seriously believe that these signs/ shadows/ figures/ writings or whatever-the-hell-they-are, are hints to the diablo 3 storyline or the unnanounced three character classes?
I don't know if these signs exist in other art works; may be it could be another mndfuck by beloved Blizz
It might change, but that has nothing to do with the petition. It's logical progressive game development. All we needed to do was express our... disapproval, and they would have worked on it. The petition was childish.
Frankly I'm fine with the design. It's not game altering at all... And everyone saying they won't buy the game is full of shit.
And you suggest we expressed our disapproval through what (if not a petition) ?
Yes I saw the small off shoots of the comet, but the comet is NOT a demon. I will say that with almost 100% confidence.
Yes but maybe Tyrael or angel Imperius is carrying some kinds of demon stones that are going to revive dormant demons?
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram Cathedral seeking clues to defeat new stirrings of evil, a fiery harbinger of doom falls from the heavens, striking the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. This fire from the sky reawakens ancient evilsand calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells, once again.
did you guys see small flames bursting out of the initial giant comet? It could be that these small flames represent the demons that are going to bring chaos to the world of sanctuary and will be the bosses at the end of each acts?

One-handed barb would still kick monster-ass

The only thing wrong is the purple thingy on his head. Blizzard's choice of colors could not be any wrong.

You are blindly trusting Blizzard and taking everything they are offering to you.
Gamers gotta fight to get the best of games, not accept everything that game devs throw in front of them.

Just my two cents.

20 - 11 = 9
9 = 2009
I believe the projected date of realease is 20th November 2009

Dude, why did Blizzard name the game DIABLO 3 if good ole diablo is not coming in some form or other?

I noticed these strange 'signs' on the New Tristram artwork found on d3's website.

What's your opinion about that?
Graphical glitch or tanglible hint?
