Erm, sorry, my bad I post so much most of these days that I sometimes forgot what I'm talking about.
Yes, I think the age issue is an interesting aspect of it. My guess is that its some form of powerful magic she has. Even a powerful Horadric mage like Deckard Cain can't cheat his age very well. If she is, indeed, a demon in disguise, she would not have to worry about age.
I honestly haven't the foggiest. If I had to guess based on information we already have, I'd say maybe that spider lady we saw in concept art, Lilith, or... Hm... You know, maybe the reason it seemed like Adria disappeared into nowhere because she never actually left Tristram. Maybe she "dwells" down there or something.
I was thinking Lilith since I started reading this thread, it would explain why the evils were resurrected in tristram (Lilith resurrected the evils).
On a further note why would Lilith try to resurrect the evils if her ultimate goal was to turn the people of sanctuary into nephalem (Unless she had somehow bent their will)?
Is that what her ultimate goal is? To make humans... powerful? I guess, I just don't understand why. Is that in the books somewhere?
Yeah, if you want me to spoil it for you I will.
Since we defeated Lilith and the prime evils it makes sense that they would return to hell. In the books it states that time is not relevant between the realms of heaven, hell, and sanctuary. So that could explain the amount of time it took for them to return to sanctuary, or maybe they were just rebuilding their forces, perhaps warring with Azmodan and Belial.
I just don't get why Lilith would want the humans to become so powerful that they could possibly do her in, or any of the other evils of Hell. Of course, since humans are split between Heaven and Hell, it could go either way. I just never knew that before.
Maybe blizzard is making the Pandemonium event of the uber bosses part of the story line. Even though that part of D2 isn't actually part of the story line; it did explain that lilith commenced a ritual of dark summoning to bring back Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, which they became more powerful than the actual quests in which you were ordered to kill them.
Yeah, the reason they were more powerful is because they are their most powerful when they're united. I forget where it says that in the games, but I'm pretty sure it does. I just wish, if they are truly going to make the Pandemonium events cannon, that they would have added some NPC speech or some books to go along with the Uber quests. Oh well.
Well, since the bothers are at there most powerful when together, why not combine them into a single creature, since there is no protective barrier to stop hell and heaven from conquering sanctuary, then they could summon a creature stong enough to contain that level of power from the abyss. Seems like were finding out what the final act maybe; detroy most prime from of the three bothers. One head for diablo, Mephisto, and Baal.
Oh my God, you know what would be awesome? If that was Lilith, or she possessed that statue somehow, and it came to life- all the pillars falling and such- and you had to fight her. That would be a terribly awesome boss introduction
Anyway, on to the rest of that post: I hope Lilith doesn't become the focus, though. It would be like a Queen of Blades for Diablo- kinda like cheating us story-wise in a way. I don't know, that's just what I'm feeling.

I don't think she will be the focus of the game, maybe of the first act though. Kind of how Andariel was the focus of the first act in D2.
I'm still confused about the parameters of the dark summoning that Lilith performed. In most summonings the summoner has complete control over the summoned, I just cant imagine a summoner with the power to control the three greatest evils of all time at once, even Lilith, daughter of Mephisto. Maybe she had help. Maybe since their souls were in a weakened state it was easier.

@ Daemaro: Yeah, I agree. It actually looks reminiscent of Diablo's head. The one in her hand, anyway:
I'm not genesis, but yeah.
They also go out of their way to show it in that picture AND the one in Cain's Journal.
Not to mention in 20 years of aging she's still smoking fine.

What feminine demon would be carved under Tristram anyway?

I have a theory that the final patch for d2 will add on to the 4th act and tie up all the loose ends of the pandemonium event.

It really looks like a ancient shrine to Lillth to me.
Maybe she wanted the prime evils resurrected so that it draws attention away from what she is doing.
Kind of like a decoy.
I mean here it looks like the same dungeon and appears as if they're trying to create or revive some giant creature.
