How about this...if Adria is an immortal being walking the Earth in disguise...what if she were Auriel, the Angel of Love? That might explain her desire to help the residents of Tristram, as well as her foreseeing the town's doom.
That actually make some sense. But Adria is mutual on things if she were an angel in disguise she would try to help the light. She never supports light or dark. She is vary mysterious and I dont think she is mortal in anyway.
Look at the quote she says to the anvil of fury quest
There are many aftifacts within the labyrinth that hold powers beyond the
comprehension of mortals. Some of these hold fantastic power that can be used by
either the light or the darkness. Securing the anvil from below could shift the
course of the Sin War towards the light.
She knows WWAAAAAYYY to much to be a simple mortal and she knows the people of tristram way to well and she has not spoken to them much. She will be in Diablo3 and im hoping that she reveals or we find out what she truly is.

If you want to arrange it
This world you can change it
If we could somehow make this
Christmas thing last
By helping a neighbor
Or even a stranger
And to know who needs help
You need only just ask
I apologize if this point has been raised/dismissed, but I'm of the opinion Leah de Soto is somehow related to Adria. I was watching the cinematic and compared Leah's likeness to Cain's sketch. The two were remarkably similar -- the eyes, noce, lips. The glaring difference, really, is the poise and confidence in Adria's countenance. Both also wore peculiar pendants around their necks, though they were of completely different design.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
All in the Forger's wake is left bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the dark Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.
