I think that Tyrael has actually been using us as puppets teetering the balance of good and evil on the edge and in Diablo 3 he will give a final push towards evil and the world will be thrown into chaos. He will reveal that he is actually the mastermind behind the evil, The Fallen Angel Tyrael (not archangel) (he's like the Lucifer of hell) and Baal, Diablo, and Mephisto are really his children but they were getting to powerfull for him to control. Thus he has you destroy them. And in the end you must fight and destroy Tyrael.
That's just my opinion.
actually i think he will be more like that other fallen angel in the game. he will try so hard to stop the evil that it will eventually consume him. it will be a tragic turn of events it wont be a sudden unveiling that shows he was really an evil mastermind all along.
Whenever a great evil comes unto the realm of man, a great good of the same scale follows and vise versa, with the single purpose of extinguishing the other.
The balance is determined by how things turn out in the end, this is how it is has been since the beginning of time.
To suggest that Tyrael is evil in any manner is preposterous, as it is clearly shown that he plays a most important part in tipping the balance towards the side of good.
I cant see how people who have no clue about the lore of the game just find a character and say "Ooh, Cain might actually be evil and he will bring Diablo back to life", "What with that Tal Rasha person, he is still out there and he is evil", "Natalia is actually Andariel who is not dead and she destroyers the world".
Enough I say, there are plenty of powers in the universe of Diablo that still have an effect on the balance between good and evil, be it gods, elements, dragons, and demons or angels both familiar and unfamiliar to us, but just taking a name you know and saying "He's actually a bad guy", thats not as near as what you would expect from a even the worst thing Blizzard can come out with.

- Everything you ever wanted to know about the lore of Diablo and never knew where to look (In construction).
I don't think should be 100% evil, but it would nice if he was half-corrupted, so sometimes he is good and sometimes he is bad... Kind of like a Frodo type of concept
Yea that would be awesome. You could choose to be good/evil each able to interact with each other. You could choose to kill angels or little demons fun.
To be able to choose between Good and Evil would be good, specially for the replay.
But, back to the topic, I don't think Tyrael would become evil (or be turned in anyway).
Acordig to wikipedia, there are still some great devils:
Azmodan, Lord of Sin; Belial, Lord of Lies; and Lilith (Unless you consider to REALLY be her in Patch 1.11, and that beating her is canon)
Those could be explored, and they could do whatever and ressurect all the prime evils (even if one by one, as you try to stop their evil plans...)
Then, I see that Tyrael has no real reason to be evil. Specially considering how he helps you in D2.
In my opinion having Tyrael be the main evil character in diablo 3 would just be pure ownage. Also getting to choose if your character was good or evil (in which case agaisnt or with Tyrael) would be great. Even if Tyrael doesn't become evil, I would still like to be able to choose good or evil, and I would probably choose good first since most people will be evil, and I want to kill most people >=)

I'm just being really open here, but if you watch LoD's final cinematic, as the view zooms down to the bottom of the Worldstone Tyrael seems to be dropping to his knees... I'm not sure - but that's what it seems like he is doing. Impaled by a shard? Possibly. Dying after his ritual? Possibly. Baal breaking out? Possibly.
Hey Lainour, REMEMBER ME???
I sure hope so.
I stick with my Decision as of about a year ago that Tyreal is DEFINITELY evil! He's Going to screw us all.
Cain seems like he ready to tip over dead anyways... Tyrael says that he will not let Cain perish so far from his homeland when you enter Act 4 - Tyrael is pretty much telling you Cain is getting old and frail, and could die at any moment, especially on a journey that he is undertaking.
Tyrael seems like he is good, but he knows a lot of information that we don't, and that could lead to his corruption. Demons may want his knowledge, if he is isn't secretly evil already.
i posted somewhere else so long ago that i thought cain would die. he would sacrifice himself for the good of humanity and to keep back the legions of hell. tyrael although might do the same or instead of cain. he can also lead the forces of light. thing is that tyrael is good or else he wouldn't have destroyed the worldstone. he will be a big part of diablo 3 though, like cain was from the first to the second. in the first he was just a town wiseman and in the second he is a big part of the game.
tyrael is just another npc that helps with your quests but in the second he will be a much larger piece of the game.
It would be great to have Tyreal and Cain play bigger roles in quests, maybe have an archangel henchman? Anyway, i digress. They would have major roles in the story and play a major part in the outcome or ending of the story.
But another idea is to have different stories depending on ur character maybe? How about different story paths depending on quests, time of completion etc?. Is it worth moving away from a linear story line and start playing around with that a bit? Personaly i think it would add to the replay value if there was more than one way to play out the story.

Riddle them with fear!
Kill them if they get that far...
Of Course Tyrael Must Turn Evil So That The Game Must Have Interesting Story
And We Could Play A New Way
U Know Angels Turn Evil That Means new Monsters
But..................... diablo Must Be The "lord Of Evil"
U Know What I Mean
Tyrael Must Be Just A Side Kick For diablo!!!!!!!
